MSBL HAWKS BEGIN 5th SEASON!

The MSBL Hawks will be starting their 5th year of existence this upcoming 2011 season. Each year the team has improved and it looks to continue that trend next summer. The Hawks Baseball Organization, in existence since 2001, congratulates the older Hawks and plans for many more enjoyable and successful years to come.

THANKS FOR A GREAT 2010 SEASON

Thanks to all the players, families, and friends for a fun and improved 2010 season. The Hawks finished 10-9 and entered the post season as the nujmber 6 seed. A competative but short run was made through the playoffs. The coaching staff greatly appreciated all your efforts and looks forward to an even better year in 2010.
JANUARY 2010 IMPORTANT DATES!
January 10, 2010, Columbus Ohio
TEAM MEETING - Sunday, January 17, 5:30pm, RHSportfit, New Albany... We will be discussing offseason workouts, review probable schedules to include possible travel dates, solidify our roster, meet the new players, discuss uniforms, and discuss player fees. Email has been sent to all the players.
MSBL BANQUET - Saturday, January 30, 6:30pm, at Huntington Park in the Upper Lounge... The cost is $10 per person... Included in the cost are 3 kegs of beer, soft drinks, hot appetizers, finger sandwiches, other snacks, and cookies/desserts... All players from 2009 and all new players for 2010 are invited to include girlfriends/spouses.
OFFSEASON WORKOUTS - Offseason workouts will begin Wednesday, January 20, 7:30pm at RHSportfit in New Albany. Workouts will be every Wed, Fri, and Sun at 7:30pm and are Strength, Speed, and Agility training with a trainer... We also have the lower and upper cages available to us at 8:30pm for hitting, tee work, and throwing. All workouts are voluntary, so make the ones you can!
MCKEE NAMED 2009 HAWKS MVP!

CONGRATULATIONS Chris on being named the 2009 team MVP in a very close race between three players, Chris, Adrian, and Scott... Thanks Chris for a great year and always being there for us... we all appreciate your friendship, hard work, dedication to the team, and those always fun to watch "knuckleballs"...
2010 SEASON UPDATE!

Hope everyone has had a great Holiday and is looking forward to the 2010 MSBL season. The Hawks will be having a meeting sometime in January to plan offseason workouts, review probable schedules, solidify our roster, for new players to meet the team, and to just spend some time together. Keep an eye out for an email just after the first of the year.
The MSBL banquet will be in late January or early February at Huntington Park in the Upper Lounge, more info to come as it is received from the league. All current and new players are invited to include spouses and girlfriends.

Thanks to all the players, families, and friends for a fun 2009 season. Injuries took its toll this year on the pitching staff and made it tough gain any ground in the division. Thanks to all the players who stepped up to pitch and play multiple positions when we were a bit low on bodies. The coaching staff greatly appreciated all your efforts and looks forward to a better year in 2010.
The Hawks finished the season 7-13 and will be entering the playoffs as the 7th seed. Our first round playoff game will be vs the Cardinals and the winner will take on the Braves.

MSBL BANQUET - GOOD TIME HAD BY ALL!

Thanks to all who attended the league banquet at the Bogey Inn. It was a great time to see everyone and the Hawks cleaned up on a few prizes... Besides Alan receiving the MVP award MSBL jersey and batting gloves, he also won a door prize of a large bag of somewhat usable junk!... Adrian won an MSBL sweatshirt and a CD holding case from the '90s... Mike Morante won something, we just couldn't tell what it was and Mike Shambaugh didn't win anything (a far cry from last year)... Chad, Ralph, and Tony enjoyed the dark beer coming from the Miller Lite Tap!... and the donated MaxBats looked good when they were presented to the League and Torunament MVPs... Congratulations to all the winners and thanks for coming!

- The 2009 roster was set and the 2009 probable schedule discussed
- Traveling before, during, and after the season was discussed, with several option being researched
- Uniform decisions were made on Colors, Hats, and Jersey's
- Indoor workout dates and locations were solidified
- Expected expenses, league fees, field fees were accepted
CAPITAL CITY CLASSIC TOURNEY
October 4-5, 2008, Columbus Ohio
The Hawks had a great time participating in the Capital City Classic Regional Tournament held in Columbus Ohio. The team had the pleasure of playing the Columbus Knights, the St. Claire Shores Cubs, and the Detroit Angels. Thanks to Tony Martin, Sam Sygula, Jeff Felker, and Tony Lombardi of the Cleveland Roy Hobbs Shamrock Cubs for joining our team this weekend and thanks to all the fans who came out to see us.

The Hawks finished the 2008 season 12-9-2 after losing to the Indians 12-3 in a tournament game held at Hilliard Davidson High School. The Hawks had a rough time in the field, comitting six errors with several coming at key points in the game. The Hawks appreciate all those who attended Sunday's tournament game and hope to see you at the Capital City Classic on October 4.
The coaching staff would like to pass along our heartfelt thanks to all of the 2008 Hawks for being on our team. We appreciate all the hard work and dedication that was evident throughout our season. We really enjoyed playing alongside all of you this summer and look forward to a lot more fun in 2009... Thanks!
HAWKS FINISH 10-7-2 IN LEAGUE PLAY

The Hawks finished the season with a 15-0 victory over the Pirates on Sunday August 24. The game was well played and well pitched featuring a 4 hit shutout from Brent Russo, a 3 for 4 nite from Mike Morante, and a 2 for 3 nite with a triple from Kyle Robinson. The Hawks committed no errors and banged out 11 hits.
HAWKS CONTRIBUTE IN ALL-STAR VICTORIES!

In the 3:15pm All Star Game... McGloughlin, Wuersig, Perz, and Shambaugh went a combined 5-8 with one sacrifice, a walk, 3 RBI's and 3 runs scored in helping the American Division to a 10-8 win over the National Division.
In the 7:00pm All Star Game (MSBL vs MABL,18+ League)... McKee, Riley, and Shoaf made some spectacular and key defensive plays in helping the MSBL to an 11-10 victory over the younger league in a very hard fought game.

JOHN PARKER 2007 MVP!

John Parker was named the Hawks 2007 MVP for his high level of excellence both offensively and defensively. John led the team in many offensive categories including batting average, on base percentage, and doubles. John also played multiple defensive positions at a very high level with minimal errors. Thanks John for a great season and good luck in Tennesee with your new job and new team!

In their inaugural season, the Hawks lost their final game of the tournament 2-0 to the #2 seed Astros in a very well pitched and played game... The coaching staff would like to thank all the players, families, and fans for their participation in a great summer of baseball and for making the Hawks first season a success..
