Tom Corbo
1931 - 2010

Cranbury Baseball mourns the passing of Thomas "Tom" Corbo.

Mr. Corbo had been involved with Cranbury Baseball for over 45 years.  Over the past half century he had served the league in many capacities including league Treasurer and of course as manager of many teams throughout the years.

Since the inception of CRANBURY BASEBALL in 1960, the organization has provided the children of Norwalk with a thriving environment to learn and enjoy the game of baseball. Our goals have remained simple over the years- to introduce the sport at an early age, starting with our 4 year old Liberty League, and continue teaching the fundamentals as players advance through the league. Better still, by offering a fun and stress-free baseball experience, our players have the opportunity to learn about teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, self-esteem and physical well-being.  Throughout the Cranbury program, our coaches strive to offer a balanced instructional approach- teaching so that kids really KNOW the game and rules while also promoting a relaxed setting where kids are free to make mistakes and encouraged to try new things as they develop an understanding of the game. More specifically, CRANBURY P.O.N.Y. Baseball scales the size of our diamonds to match the physical capabilities of the players within each division. Pitching mound distances are also scaled to the ability of the player in proportion to the size of the diamond. Outfielders can play in a position proportionately equal to that played by a major leaguer, and the double play, squeeze play and various strategy tactics, become a probability rather than an impossibility. The 70 foot base paths and 48 foot pitcher's mound in our 11 and 12 year old Bronco League better prepare a player for the 90 foot diamonds found in Babe Ruth and High School baseball.

As we approach our Golden Anniversary, CRANBURY strives to offer our community the finest baseball experience in town and is proud that our diamonds can serve as such an important environment for our kids to play, learn and grow.
