The end of the season
We have reached the end of our 2011 season and now we look forward to gathering together to celebrate and thank our children and coaches for all of the hard work the put in to make this a successful season. Our team football records may not have ended as we would have hoped but this game is often more than just what the records reflect. Both our Varsity and JV teams earned their way into the playoffs and developed and grew in skill and knowledge of the game. Our freshmen had to fight for every yard and kept most games within 6 points. A strong showing for all 3 teams that were bringing many boys into the sport for the first time at all levels. Our young ladies learned, grew and cheered loud and proud weather it was 90 and sunny or 40 and rainy. That’s what our league is all about. Introducing our youth to the game of football, giving them an opportunity to participate in a team environment and get outside and develop physical and mentally. Any moment we can encourage a child to get off of the couch, put down the controller or cell phone, and get out and dedicate themselves to a team is a victory. Looking in to the eyes of the boys in the end zone at the end of the game it was obvious the passion for football is strong in Crestwood.
I would like to thank each and every child who came out this season and gave of their time and talents. Your hard work and dedication is to be applauded. Keep working hard and great things lie ahead for you as you continue to grow and develop. Let nothing stand in your way, hit hard, stay low and cheer loud. We are Crestwood!
I would also like to thank the Coaches for all of the hard work and dedication it takes to field a team. Long hours of preparation, watching film, developing new cheers, and hours on the field practicing as well as playing go often unnoticed. It is draining but rewarding at the same time. Your passion is contagious and it shows. We are grateful for your time away from family and obligations so that you may instill the passion for the game in our children. I thank you and the children thank you. Next I would like to thank all of the parents for giving our league an opportunity to work with your child. Your support makes this league possible. For every person who held a yard marker, made a walking taco, sold 50/50, or volunteered in any capacity. We couldn’t do this without you. And a huge thanks for your generous support for our fundraiser this year. This was much needed infusion that will help to keep costs for families in line and provide a safe and quality program.
And finally, I would like to thank the Board of CYF. This season would not be possible without all that you do. You are truly a great group of people to work with. Unless you have served on the board it is hard to appreciate the scope of what is asked of them. They shoulder the load and keep the league moving without recognition but shoulder the criticism. You have grown this program year over year in a time when other sports are seeing record low participation. This is a testament to your efforts. With all that being said, I ask each and every parent to please consider stepping up to help keep this program moving forward. We have many opportunities to help from coaching to board positions. We are at a critical juncture in our development and we need people to step up and help carry the load. We have asked in every newsletter over the last month for those interested parties to please contact the Board and throw you hat in the ring. Please take some time to consider adding yours.
In closing, let me share some quotes that have inspired me, I hope the do you as well.
One person with a belief is equal to a force of 99 who have only interests. John Stuart Mill (1806 - 1873)
The secret is to work less as individuals and more as a team. As a coach, I play not my eleven best, but my best eleven. Knute Rockne
A life-long blessing for children is to fill them with warm memories of times together. Happy memories become treasures in the heart to pull out on the tough days of adulthood. Charlotte Davis Kasl
Thanks and Go Devils! Michael Rowe
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!
Thanks so very much to everyone that came out to the reverse raffle saturday evening. We managed to sell out all of the raffle tickets in time for the big event! A special thanks to all of the parents, volunteers, team moms, and everyone else involved in making this incredible night happen. Thanks also to Mr. Hanford Dixon who came out and really enjoyed himself as well.....to say the least! :-)
The night was a HUGE success and everyone had a GREAT time. It was good to see so many parents come out to support this great program. We cannot do this without all of the great parents and volunteers in this program. We raised a very good amount of money for CYF and a great time was had.
We'll be doing this again next year - no doubt!!
