2009 Varsity Flag Football Playoffs
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
1. Posted below are the 2009 Varsity Flag Football Playoff Bracket and Game Schedule. Please note that this message is going out to all CYO schools. However, only 60 schools have qualified for the 2009 playoffs.
2. FOR THE QUALIFIED 60 SCHOOLS -- There is no playoff meeting for the coaches. Consequently, PLEASE CAREFULLY READ THE INFORMATION HEREIN. TO VERIFY YOUR REGISTRATION IN THE PLAYOFFS, YOU MUST CONTACT THE CYO OFFICE BY 5 PM THURSDAY 11/5.
3. Admission Fees: $4 per adult and $1 per student. Please make your fan base aware that admission is charged at all CYO Playoff games.
4. Top team on bracket is home team.
5. We are aware of the conflict for some schools with a Loyola tutoring program. However because of the large number of schools affected we could not accommodate any time requests. We did speak to the manager of the program and she is aware of the conflict. They ask only that your principal notify them of any students who will miss the class due to a playoff game. We greatly value the service Loyola provides for our schools and understand its importance but it simply is not feasible to schedule the playoffs around it.
6. All coaches must present their coaches card when checking in for the playoffs and to the officials prior to the start of the game. Uncertified coaches may not be on the sideline. NO EXCEPTIONS.
7. As always, coaches will be held responsible for the actions and safety of the players and spectators from their school. Sportsmanship and safety are priorities in the CYO program.
8. There is no grace period for CYO playoff games and all start times are approximate. Games will begin immediately following the conclusion of the previous one. Teams should arrive at the site at least thirty (30) minutes prior to the listed game time.
9. Protests cannot be filed during the CYO playoffs. Coaches may appeal to the referee, but the referee’s decision will be final.
10. 1st Place conference trophies will be available at the check-in table at all 1st round locations. Referee fees should also be turned in at the check-in table. Referee fee is $30 per team per game. No referee fee for the Final Four and Championship games.
11. Selection process: CYO seeded all 60 teams based upon the following criteria: how each team finished in league, strength of schedule (including participation in tournaments) and input from coaches. Consideration was also given to travel concerns when possible.

Flags are available for purchase from CYO. They come in yellow or red and the sizes of the belt range from Small to XX Large. $4 per belt. Please ensure that your belts fit your players as officials will not allow belts with knots or belts that have been lengthened.
Please note the flag football rules are available under the Governing Manual tab of the homepage. The rules have been updated and revised. Please ensure that your team meets the uniform requirements as the officials will enforce these rules. That is, no pockets, belt loops, etc will be allowed for safety reasons.

Hey coaches, looking for flag football rules? They can be found in the Appendix of the Governing Manual which can be found on the CYO home page.
Please remember that all flag football games shall begin with a pre-game prayer involving both teams at mid-field. The Home Team shall be responsible for leading the pre-game prayer, samples of which can be found in the Appendix of the Governing Manual.
