Ranger All-Stars
Congratulations to the four Ranger All-Stars that were selected to play in the Minor Division All-Star Game on Sunday, June 28. The selections were Garrett Slider, DJ Engle, Dylan Frendlich, and Dan King. Each player played very well and represented the Rangers with tremendous pride. The game was a joy to watch for all.
Rangers Shut out Royals in Second Game
Rangers continued to hit the ball well and pounded out 13 hits in a game called by the 10 run rule. After pitching the final 2 innings of the first game of the double header, Dan King struck out 8, issued only 2 walks, and pitched a one hit shutout against the tough Royals. He also earned the victory in the second game of the double header. The defense was really focused and made the defensive plays when needed. The leading hitters for the Rangers included DJ Engle with a Home Run, Pat Ware with a triple and double, Connor Kelly smacked 3 singles, Garrett Slider, Austin Ferree, and Austin Layton added 2 singles each. What a night for the Rangers.
Rangers Win On Late Rally 14 - 13
In the first game of a double header for the Rangers and 2 outs in the bottom of the last inning, Dylan Frendlich singles to get on base. The next batter, Austin Ferree, hit a single to shallow right field driving in Frendlich for the game winning run and the Rangers defeated the Indians 14 - 13 in a game that provided more excitement then ever expected. Leading the hit attack for the Rangers was Garrett Slider with 3 hits, DJ Engle, Dylan Frendlich, and Austin Ferree had 2 hits. Patrick Ware provided a huge 3 run double in the first inning. Caleb Gray, Austin Layton, and Connor Kelly also provided big hits for the Rangers. Dan King came in in the 4th and 5th and struck out 4 of 5 batters he faced and picked up his first pitching victory of his young baseball career. Way to go Rangers.
Rangers Bats Explode Win 16 - 2
After being somewhat sluggish with the bats over the past couple of games, the Rangers bats exploded and pounded out 26 hits and defeated the Red Sox 16 - 2. Austin Ferree and Garrett Slider each had 5 hits, DJ Engle pounded out 4 hits, Zeke Roddy, Dan King, and Connor Kelly had 3 hits, and Parker Twigg, Austin Layton, and Dylan Frendlich each contributed with singles. Austin Ferree picked up his first victory as a pitcher in his young baseball career. $ pitchers for the Rangers combined for 15 strike outs, issued only 4 walks, and gave up 3 hits. The Rangers record now stands at 3 - 5 - 1.
Astros Defeat Rangers 12 - 2
After holding the game tight for several innings, the Astros broke the game open with some timely hitting and defeated the Rangers 12 - 2. Hits for the Rangers included singles by Dan King and DJ Engle. Better luck next time Rangers.
Poor Hitting Leads to Padres Victory
The Rangers came out flat and were defeated by the Padres 13 - 5. The Rangers defense was somewhat flat also and did not make the plays needed to stay in the game. The Rangers collected only 4 hits and were not able to take advantage of the 13 walks issued by the Padres pitchers. Hitters for the Rangers included Garret Slider with a triple, and Dan King, Zeke Roddy, and Austin Layton with singles.
Yankees Comeback Sinks Rangers
After leading 8 - 1, the Yankees stormed back and beat the Rangers 10 - 9 in a well played game by both teams. Each team pounded out 10 hits in a game to be remembered. Leading the way for the Rangers was Dan King with 3 singles, Austin Ferree with a double, Connor Kelly smashed 2 singles, and Garret Slider, Dylan Frendlich, Luke Hamilton, and Austin Layton all singled. Players making tremendous defensive plays for the Rangers included Garret Slider, Auston Ferree, and Dylan Frendlich. Keep up the good work Rangers.
Rangers and Royals Tie 13 - 13
The Rangers and Royals battled to a 13 - 13 tie during a game that consisted of 31 walks issued. Leading the way with the bats for the Rangers was Dylan Frendlich with a double and 2 singles, Austin Ferree, Luke Hamilton, and Austin Layton with 2 singles, and DJ Engle and Dan King with singles. Defensively, the Rangers continue to improve and know where the ball needs to be thrown.
Rangers Loose to Indians
The Rangers struggled hitting the ball during the game and lost to the Indians 5 - 0. Collecting hits for the Rangers was Dan King with a double and Connor Kelly and Austin Layton both with singles. Pitching was strong for the Rangers by Connor Kelly and Dan King giving up only 5 runs, 6 hits and striking out 8 in a 5 inning game.
The Rangers have a busy week ahead while playing their 2 scheduled games and working in a makeup game with the Royals. Players are asked to be at hitting and fielding practice at 6:15 on Tuesday. The game scheduled with the Yankees on June 11 has been changed to Saturday, June 13 at 6 pm at Abrams. Players should be at the field by 5:30 for pre-game. The Rangers vs Royals game will finally be played on Friday, June 12 at 5:30 at Abrams. All players should arrive at the field by 4:25 for pre-game warmups. Players can arrive as early as 4:15 for extra hitting practice. This puts an extra burden on the parents and players but thanks for all your help and cooperation. Go Rangers Go!!
Ranger Battle Hard, End Up On Short End
The Rangers and Astros finally finished the game the was halted due to lightning nearly 2 weeks ago. The first 3 innings of the game was played on May 28 and the final 3 innings was completed yesterday, June 6. The Rangers just couldn't push across enough runs and at the end, lost to the top ranked Astros, 4 - 2. Pitchers for the Rangers, Garrett Slider and Dan King, held the Astros to 3 hits and struck out 12 batters. Leading the hitting attack for the Rangers was Garrett Slider who smashed a home run and also had a single. Patrick Ware ripped a single and scored a run and Dan King also smashed a single. The defense played a tremendous game with big plays coming from Dylan Frendlich at third and a nice catch in the out field by Austin Ferree. DJ Engle continues to do a great job at catcher and threw out a runner trying to steal 3rd base. Timely hitting for the Astros, 2 run homer by Caleb Harden and an RBI single for Conner Brode, proved to be the difference in the game.
Rangers Win
The Rangers pounded out 11 hits, including 2-run homers by Garrett Slider and DJ Engle, and beat the Padres 8 - 6 on Tuesday, June 2. Slider also singled later in the game driving home another run. Other players having hits for the Rangers included Dan King with a triple and single, Austin Ferree with 2 singles, Connor Kelly smashed a double, and Dylan Frendlich, Caleb Gray, and Patrick Ware ripped singles to help the Rangers in the winning cause. Pitching for the Rangers was Garrett Slider, Connor Kelly, and Dan King. The three held Padres to 6 hits, allowed 6 walks, and struck out 11 batters. The Rangers will complete the final 3 innings of a game, stopped by rain, with the Astros on Saturday, June 6 at 6:30 at Abrams. Go Rangers Go!!

Rangers Win
The 2009 Rangers season got off to a great start with a 10 - 0 win over the Red Sox. Pitching 3 strong innings for the Rangers was starter Conner Kelly followed by 1 inning of relief by Dan King. The Rangers held the Red Sox to just 2 hits. The Rangers bats were alive and were lead by several players. DJ Engle had 3 singles, Austin Ferree ripped a triple and a single, Conner Kelly had 2 singles, Dylan Frendlich ripped a double that cleared the bases for 3 RBI's, and Caleb Gray and Austin Layton both smashed doubles. It was a great team effort by all players on the team. The Rangers will play the Royals on Tuesday, May 26, at Abrams Field at 7:30. Players should be at the field by 7pm.
The 2009 season will open up with the Rangers hosting the Red Sox on Friday, May 22, 2009 at Abrams Field at 6pm. Congratulations to the four 2008 Rangers that were recently drafted to Dapper Dan Major League Teams. Darion Roddy was drafted by Coach Ray Haines and will be playing for the Cardinals. Ryan Dunn was selected by the Tigers and will play for Coach Brad Reed. In adition, Colin Wilt was selected to play for the Reds and Coach Marty Matthews. Coach Dave Hickle picked Grant Wolfe to add some additional power to the Orioles. The Rangers Family wishes all the players the best of luck with the upcoming baseball season.

Astros Defeat Rangers, Advance to Championship
The Astros were just too much for the Rangers Saturday evening at Long Field at the Park and advanced to the Championship Series with a 13 - 2 victory. The Rangers were led on offensive by Luke Hamilton who had a double and 2RBI's and Dan King who had the only other hit for the Rangers. Pitching for the Rangers was Darian Roddy, Grant Wolfe, and Ryan Dunn, all of whom had a great season for the Rangers. Thanks to all of the Rangers players for your hard work this year. Each player improved in various ways as the season progressed. Even though the season is over, please continue to throw, hit, and have catches with friends. I would also like to thank the parents for your support and commitment throughout the season. It was a great season. GO RANGERS!!!!

Rangers on ALLSTAR TEAM

Five Rangers have been selected to play in the All Star Game on Sunday, July 6, 2008. The game will be played at Long Field in the Park at 6pm. The players that will represent the Rangers will be 10 year old Grant Wolfe, and 9 year olds Ryan Dunn, Darian Roddy, Colin Wilt, and Garrett Slider. Good luck to all the Ranger players and all other players in the game.
Rangers Defeat Red Sox 12 - 2
July 5, 2008
After falling behind 2 - 0, the Rangers came firing back at the Red Sox and won 12 - 2 at Al Abrams Field. Dan King provided the offensive spark for the Rangers and smacked 2 doubles, a single, had 3 RBI's, and knocked in the game winning RBI in the top of the 6th for the Rangers. Also, King excelled at second base by stopping a hard hit ball in the hole, throwing the batter out at first, and ending a rally for the Red Sox in the 5th inning. Ryan Dunn added some offensive power by ripping 2 doubles and knocking in 3 RBI's. Darian Roddy smashed a triple and double and had an RBI. Garrett Slider hit 2 singles, had an RBI, and had a nice play at third base. Grant Wolfe, who ended up being the winning pitcher, smacked a triple and had 2 RBI's. Others providing offense for the Rangers included Conner Kelly with a triple and RBI, Luke Hamilton with a double and RBI, and Kaleb Gray had a single. Kelly provided the defense needed in the outfield by playing the ball well, fielding the ball, and getting the ball to the cutoff men when needed. Great job Rangers!!!
Game Changed to Al Abrams Field

The game scheduled at Long Field at the Park for 5:30 on July 5, 2008 has been moved to Al Abrams Field due to the City of Cumberland closing Long Field for the fireworks. All players need to be at the field at 4:50 for warmups.
Rangers Rally Sinks Nationals
July 2, 2008
The Ranhers rallied after trailing earlier in the game to win 8 - 6 against the Nationals. Winning pitcher Grant Wolfe came in to pitch the final inning and a third, recorded 4 stike outs, and shut down the Nationals. Wolfe also lead the Rangers at the plate and ripped a big triple knocking in 2 RBI's. Darian Roddy knocked in a key run with a long sacrifice fly. Roddy also pitched 2 innings early in the game for the Rangers and did a great job on the mound. Other RBI's for the Rangers came from Ryan Dunn, DJ Engle, Zeke Roddy, Austin Layton, and Dan King. Colin Wilt continues to do a great job behind the plate for the Rangers as the catcher. The next game for the Rangers will be on Saturday, July 5, 2008 against the Red Sox at Long Field at the Park. Game time will be at 5:30 pm.
Late Astros Rally Sinks Rangers
An 11 run 4th inning for the Astros ended up being to much for the Rangers. Trailing most of the game, the Astros bats came alive and took the lead for good in the top of the 4th and won the game 15 - 8. The Rangers were lead by Grant Wolfe at the plate with a double, 2 singles, and 3 RBI's. Darian Roddy had a single with an RBI. Conner Kelly and Colin Wilt also provided 2 RBI's each for the Rangers. In addition, Kelly took over at shortstop and provided some strong defense for the Rangers and assisted in turning a great double play to end an Astros threat in the second inning. Austin Layton came in the game during the second inning, when starting shortstop Ryan Dunn got sick, and reached base twice and stole 2 bases. The next game for the Rangers will be on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at 6pm at Al Abrams Field. The Rangers need to be at the field by 5:25 for warmups.

The game scheduled against the Angels on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 has been cancelled due to a conflict with the fields. Coach King will notify the team when the game in rescheduled.
Rangers Bats Unload on Red Sox
A Sunday afternoon game at Long Field at the Park resulted in the Rangers beating the Red Sox 11 - 1. The Rangers bats rapped out an awesome 18 hits against a solid Red Sox Team. The Rangers were lead by Colin Wilt who slugged a home run, a single and had 4 RBI's. Luke Hamilton ripped a triple and also had 4 RBI's. Garrett Slider smacked a double and single to help lead the hit attack. Joining in with other hits was Ryan Dunn, Conner Kelly, Dan King, Darian Roddy, Grant Wolfe, DJ Engle, Austin Layton, and Kaleb Gray. Additional RBI's were provided by Layton, Engle, Roddy, Kelly, King, and Wolfe. Leading the way on the mound for the Rangers was winning pitcher Grant Wolfe. He was followed up by Dunn, King, and Slider. Pitching was exceptional for the Rangers. The catchers again did a great job and all the fielders did a great job getting the ball back into the proper bases. Way to go RANGERS!! The next game for the Rangers will be at Long Field on Wednesday, June 25, at 5:30 pm.
6/20/08 Game Time Changed
The game time scheduled for the Cubs vs Rangers at Flynn Field has been changed from 7:30 to 5:30 Friday evening. The Rangers are the home team and need to be at the field at 4:30 for warmups.
Makeup Game on Sunday 6/22/08
The game rained out with the Red Sox several weeks ago has been rescheduled for Sunday, June 22, at 2pm at Long Field at the Park. The Rangers are the home team and need to be at the field at 1pm for warmups.
