2012 Cardinal Classic
The Delaware Defenders 7th grade team went to play in the Cardinal Classic in Salisbury, Md on March 24-25.. This was a great 1st tourney of the season for us. Although we lost in the semi's on a last second 3 pointer, the team played well. We have a lot of new additions to the this years roster and that's gonna make this team very exciting to watch. The team was led in scoring by Terrell Barnes. The leadership play of Shannon McCants was very key as he directed the players to the right positions and knocked down some key shots. Trevon Alderman's hot shooting also contributed to the success of the team. New members, Jariel Quintana, Gary Brightwell and Ali Salaam all played well in their first action as Defenders. Good job fellas. This is just the beginning of 2012.
13u - Charlie Smith Memorial Tourney - 2012

In their season and organizational debut, The new 16u team of the Delaware Defenders won the championship of The Charlie Smith Memorial tournament but beating Mt. Defenders 13u Heading to Tenn!
The 13u team played in the Mid Atlantic District Tourament this past weekend. We recieved a Div 2 bid to the AAU National Tournament in June. We defeated the King of Prussia Patriots 56-30. The team was led in scoring by Deondre Carr with 16pts. The team played excellent team defense which led to a lot of fast break points. In the second game, we played The Malvern Legends and won 58-40. This was a complete team effort game. Although Trevon Alderman led us in scoring with 16pts the entire team played an outstanding game. We lost to Rip City in the 2nd round of the playoffs so we finished 2-1. Congrats to the fellas. Hard work pays off!
Once Again - Defenders take over Blue/Gold game
This year's Blue/Gold was great to watch as 3 former Delaware Defenders suited up again as teammates. Ray Anderson, Anthony Bowers and Tomir Gibbs all had excellenct senior seasons and were selected to play in this years game. They all played key roles as they beat the gold team. Ray led the team with 16pts. I'm so proud to see these guys continue their growth as young men and I'm excited to see what the future holds for these and other former players that will be graduating this year. The Defenders had a great year throughout the state of Delaware!
