EGSA, West End Soccer and Ewing Girls Travel Soccer Merger

Dear Ewing Soccer Citizen:

There are many opportunities to play organized soccer in Ewing. They are now offered
by four different organizations that are actually run by a pretty small number of people.
People on the Board of Directors of the West End Soccer Association (WESA) and
the Ewing Girls Soccer Association (EGSA) have talked about a merger for years?
sometimes among the same people at different board meetings week to week. We think
now is the time.

Some aspects and benefits of a merger include:

  • The size of each program has been shrinking over the years, but the number of tasks
for volunteers has not. Consolidation will give us some economies of scale.

  • Despite many opportunities to play soccer in Ewing, finding the right one can be a
challenge. Consolidation will offer a ?one stop shop? for players and parents.

  • The mix of opportunities will not change. There will still be:

    • A recreational program for boys and girls (formerly WESA)

    • A recreational program for girls only (formerly EGSA);

    • Youth travel soccer teams as exist now or may be created (WESA and EGSA)

    • Indoor co-ed youth and adult recreational programs (formerly Township)

    • Adult co-ed recreational 7v7 program, spring & fall outdoor and winter indoor (formerly Ewing 7v7 Soccer of Ewing)

    • Other opportunities as demand permits and leaders step forward.

  • Field scheduling and maintenance will be simplified.

  • A proposed new name of ?Ewing United Soccer Association? (EUSA) will emphasize
    a Ewing identity.

As the fall season shapes up, we will communicate through existing channels (like this
email) but you may need to create a new registration record on a new website.

For more on the merger, please continue to visit our website for more information.

Ewing Girls Soccer Association
The Ewing Girls Soccer Association (EGSA) is a recreational program that provides girls between the ages of 5 and 17 the opportunity to play competitive soccer outside of a travel soccer or school team environment. The focus of the program is on fun, instruction, and making and growing friendships. All girls are assigned to a team without being required to try-out. Please be advised no child will be allowed to participate in the season until the Ewing Township Code of Conduct form is signed by both the player and parent/guardian.
