Labor Day is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers.  And during this time many Americans celebrate Labor Day by enjoying this Country’s National Pastime – Baseball!  In fact our hardworking, dedicated parents and athletes were in full force playing baseball in several 3-day Labor Day Tournaments.  With temperatures in the high 90’s it did not stop our Rough Riders from creating some heat of their own.  Three of our teams made it to the championship game with one team (14U-Flores) coming away with the championship (Click here to view picture).  Our other 14U team led by Coach Zapata went undefeated (5-0) going into the championship game.  Unfortunately the team suffered its only loss by a very close margin taking home second place.  The team averaged 5.6 runs per game and only allowed an average of 2.4 runs per game (Click here to view picture).  Coach Hernandez also led his 10U team to the championship game and unfortunately came up short, taking second place.  Coach Hernandez’s team had a great tournament only losing one game in pool play.  They scored 51 total runs in the tournament, averaging 8.5 runs a game and outscoring their opponents by 4.3 runs per game (Click here to view picture).  Also in action was Coach Moreno’s 12U team.  Coach Moreno’s team advanced to Monday’s championship round but lost a close game.  The 12U team played a great tournament in a field of nine teams.   Coach Eric’s 12U team also played in the USSSA Labor Day Tournament and played a great tournament.  Coach Eric’s team advanced to Monday’s championship round as well, losing in the quarter finals by one run.  In fact, both losses in the tournament were lost by 1 run only.  Coach Eric’s team scored a total 30 runs in the tournament, averaging 6 runs per game and allowing only 2.8 runs per game.

All our teams, coaches, and players deserve a lot of respect and admiration for all the hard work they put in to able to play competitively against talented baseball organizations.  During this 3-day tournament our teams played a combined 28-games and won 19 of those games.  This represents a better than half winning percentage, 67% winning percentage to be exact.  Congratulations to all our parents, coaches, and athletes.  Job well done!
