Fruitland Soccer Club & Salisbury Futbol Club Merger

May 8, 2015

Below is a letter that was emailed to all of the familes of FSC & SFC.  The FSC Board is quite proud that we were able to come to an agreement with SFC that will benefit our youth soccer community.

In order to fully welcome the new club created by this merger, our FSC Board must first stop and say "Thank You" for the support, encouragement, investment, time........etc that was needed for our soccer club to become something we are all so proud of.

Thank you,

Rich, Galen, Brian, Ryan & Chris

Hello FSC and SFC families,

The Salisbury area has seen incredible growth in youth soccer over the last 5-10 years. The sport's future on the Eastern Shore is bright. Participation is up. Opportunities have expanded. The level of play has improved significantly. Both Fruitland Soccer Club and Salisbury Futbol Club can take great pride in their respective contributions. It is in this spirit that we are extremely proud to announce a formal partnership between the two clubs.

Starting in the fall of 2015, the travel programs will be combined under a new umbrella organization named Salisbury United Soccer Club. It is our goal to form competitive teams at all ages (U9-U18) in both genders. Provided there is enough talent and desire, multiple teams within an age group will be formed. We will strive to be as inclusive as possible. Salisbury United will provide players with the opportunity to participate in the top local/travel leagues, elite regional tournaments, Maryland State Cup, and Showcase Events. Teams will be selected using an open and impartial evaluation process on the following days: May 27th, June 2nd, and June 4th 5:30 -7:30 pm, Crown outdoor fields. Check our new website for more information

The FSC/SFC partnership will continue to provide U6-U14 Recreational soccer either through Salisbury United SC or through each individual club. More information on that will be forthcoming.

In addition to our performance on the pitch, we will hold all of our players, parents, and family members to the highest standards of behavior which will be clearly defined in our code of conduct. We will expect our young players to conduct themselves with humility in victory and grace in defeat at all times. Continued community involvement will be sought and encouraged. Ultimately, we all want to build model citizens whose love for the sport lasts a lifetime.

We do not expect any significant change in financial outlays as compared to current costs. Scholarships will continue to be available based on financial need. Salisbury United SC will be administered by a mutually agreed upon board which will also include a designated Technical Director and Director of Coaching. Individual coaches have been vetted by both clubs. They will be required to have background checks and pursue appropriate licensing. Although not dogma, Salisbury United teams will have a common developmental approach and style of play. We will expect players/families to be fully committed to our process in order for our young players to thrive, progress, and have fun.

 Thank you,

 FSC & SFC Boards
