Patterson - All that stood in the way of the rookie Gaucho football team's road to the Super Bowl was a rematch with the Central Valley Raiders. The Gauchos would strike first on the opening drive of the game and added a PAT kick to take a 8-0 lead. The Raiders answered on the ensuing drive to pull within 8-6 but that would be all the scoring the Gauchos would allow as the El Cap defense tightened up and the offense scored 25 unanswered points to advance to the first Super Bowl in the Gauchos short history. The #1 Gauchos (10-0) will face the #2 Oakland Jr. Raiders (10-0) in the Bay Valley Super Bowl this Saturday Nov 23rd @ 2pm at Atwater HS.

Our mighty Gauchos did well vs. The Central Valley Raiders yesterday considering the somber moment with our player's injury. Our starts finished their season (2-7) with a 31-6 loss. Though they were amongst the youngest and smallest in the league these lil guys played with immense heart and never quit. Gaucho starts... we salute you! Our rookies improved to 8-0 with a dominant 39-7 win over a ta...lented Raider (5-3) squad. Our JV Gauchos (4-4) were in a barnburner against a very good Raider team and fell 27-18. Our Varsity Gauchos (5-3) had a tune up vs. the Livingston Wolfpack and won 43-7. Special thanx to Livingston Football & Cheer for coming out and supporting their kids. We appreciate you and your enthusiasm. Our Rookies & Varsity have qualified for the playoffs with the #1 seeded Rookies and #5 seeded Varsity... our JV is going through tiebreaker calculations as they are in a 4-way tie @ 4-4. We will know this evening if they made it.

All of our kids that participate in selling the minimum tickets @... $5 per ticket will receive an equipment bag that they will keep. Raffle prizes include an ipad, tv, xbox, free registration for 2014 season and more! we must meet a reserve to be able to have these items for raffle...... other proceeds will go towards trophies, banquet and season expenses. Top 3 ticket sellers will receive special prizes as well! More news on this early next week.......
Have a balance with us and have issues taking care of the balance? sell ads for the program book... we will credit 50% of the cost of the ad sold to your balance.. must be done by next friday. Inbox us if interested thanx.
There seems to be miscommunication in regard to our minimum play rule. We explained it when we had our parents meeting in July but to revisit it: All players MUST attend practice everyday in order to participate in the game. If a players misses a day of practice they will receive only a portion of their minimum plays. If a player misses two days a player will most likely sit out for the entire gam...e at the coaches discretion. If a player misses three or more days of practice in a week, they will not play at all in the game for that week.
Coaching staffs are putting new plays in and preparing for that week's opponent and if a player misses practice that impacts the team. We understand that players fall ill or simply cannot be there in certain instances, however we must adhere to the guidelines set forth. In a game where all players have played a significant amount, it is the coaches discretion whether the player that was absent will receive playing time, however they are not required to. Also if a player attends but refuses to practice, that doesn't count as being at practice. thank you for your understanding.
Week 4 update
September 30, 2013
Congrats to our mighty gauchos on their wins vs. The Patterson Bengals today! Starts 20-7... rookies 38-27...& varsity 25-19..... Gaucho up! ! Last week the Gauchos traveled to Patterson to play the Patterson Bengals. Gauchos swept them in some interesting events. It was a great weekend of football to say the least. Yesterday your Gauchos hosted the Central Valley Bulldogs out of Ceres. The Starts had a tough day to a very good team losing 40-0 (1-2), The Gauchos Rookie team endured an ugly win 30-12 (3-0), the Gaucho JV fell a few plays to short losing 26-12 (2-1) and the Gauchos Varsity squad lost with many mistakes 30-12 (1-2).
As a Reminder: NO ICE CHESTS are allowed at Bay Valley Gridiron Conference games. Only one team ice chest is allowed and is subject to search. If you bring an ice chest to the gate you will be turned away. Also no outside food is allowed.
We still have a limited number of T-Shirts for sale..... sizes S, M, L, & XL.... $15 ea. We also have a limited number of Hats S/M & L/XL for $25. The 3 people that pre-ordered hats we have yours as well. inbox us if you're interested and we can arrange to deliver at practice tomorrow.
FYI: Complete your arrangements for registration and/ or fundraiser if you have a balance. Otherwise we will have to move forward to the penalty stage. That's something we hope we don't have to do. Please get your payments in. thank you.
Fyi: only credentialed staff are allowed on the field and sidelines. Parents are not to leave the stands and enter the field area. No exceptions. Also we witnessed a couple acts of poor sportsmanship from a few members of our crowd on Sunday. Parents signed a code of conduct and are expected to act accordingly. We do not condone this disruptive behavior. If you become a constant problem you will be asked to stop attending gaucho events. Keep it as loud as you like..but keep it positive. Thank you.
Hello Gauchos, We had an iquiry about the fees paid and to what they cover. The $150 registration fee covers, field use charges, organization insurance, use of top of the line football equipment (no player retains any part of the football equipment after the season ends). The $100 fundraiser is used to pay for the player game jerseys which they do keep and the help with admin fees and league fees.... Without going too much in depth I hope that gives you a pretty good idea. Just want to make the point clear the ALL football equipment (Practice jerseys, Shoulder pads, Pants, Helmet, Chin strap) is not yours, it belongs to Gaucho youth football and will be returned at the end of the season

We also have a number of players that do not have birth certificates, report cards and school ID's (Varsity level) in. If we do not have these items your player will not be certified to participate. Please take care of these items this week. Fundraisers are also due. Practice Location We have been working to get over to El Capitan HS. Our president spoke with the principal today and we could be moving to El Cap soon. So until we do, we will remain at GVHS. We understand that some of you are inconvenienced by this, however we would rather have a safe place to practice than nowhere to go.
Game Jerseys / Fan Jersey / Last Names
We are expecting our game jerseys to be in by Wednesday or Thursday prior to our first game. The cost of custom tackle twill last nameplates is $10 and we are requiring you to contribute $5 towards this cost while we will cover the rest. This must be paid this week. For fan jerseys cost is $45 and we must have the orders in by sept 1st and a minimum of 30 pcs to place the order. These are custom jerseys and will take 4-5 weeks to arrive. We will have a list of player jersey numbers in order for you to select the correct number that goes on your jersey. Please choose your size accordingly as we are not responsible for the wrong size.
Fundraiser / Sponsors
We are looking for businesses to sponsor us. We would like to purchase equipment bags for the kids as well as raise additional funds to pay off our equipment bill. We are further exploring the possibility of doing a Gaucho discount card. We were thinking a $5 card with some nice discounts to some of your favorite restaurants in the Merced area. We would print at least 500 and require each player to sell 5 cards for a total of $25. We are still discussing this.
Minimum Play Monitors:
Each of our levels need 2 dependable adults to monitor opponent plays for their players. This team of 2, will be on the opponent sideline and must not be overly cheerful or communicate with our staff or our side of the field. If interested please let us know. thank you.
Reminder: All parents must remain off the practice field & sidelines / game field on game day.
No ice chests or outside food / drinks are allowed at any of the facilities. Only water is allowed
when we play on the turf at GVHS. No other drinks or food are allowed on the field. Thank you
for your understanding and cooperation. Each hosting team charges a gate fee for the games.
Gate fees are $5 adults $3 kids and $2 seniors. We will provide breakdowns on ages soon.
All players / cheer in uniforms receive free entry to the games.
We will release the official schedule when it becomes available from our league, There were 3 new teams added and now the schedule is being revamped. We don't expect our schedule to change that much if at all. We do know that we are hosting games Sept 14, Sept 29, Oct 5 and Oct 26. We will be scheduling our volunteers by level per game. Starts are responsible for Sept 14th (you will not work when the starts are actually playing, we will have other volunteers fill in during that 2 hr time slot) Sept 29th Rookies host, except during the Rookie game. Oct 5th JV hosts and Oct 26th Varsity hosts.
Fourth week of practice and things are click clacking!

If anyone has a nice D-SLR camera.... please make sure to bring it out to practice and float around to capture Cheer... and all of our football teams in action...... our president carries his camera around and shoots when and what he can but if someone else would capture moments as well.... that would be greatly appreciated.
Gaucho Parents please remember the coaches and board members put in many hours, not to mention they all donate their own time they could be with family members. Please treat them with the same kindness you would want to be treated with. They will make mistakes, they have made mistakes, they are only human. Thank you for support and in advance for your understanding.
