Tim Barbaro, David Butler, Conor Donachie and Justin Samardich were selected to represent the Garden City Grays in the Boys of Summer 16U All-Star Game.

The Garden City Grays reached the traditional July 4th cut-off date for tournament selection in first place with an 11-3 record in the LI Connie Mack League - Sandy Koufax Division (13-14). As a result, the Grays were selected to represent Long Island in the prestigious Metro NY Association Qualifying Tournament sponsored by the American Amateur Baseball Congress (AABC). The Tournament, comprised of six regional representatives from the five boroughs (Manhattan/Staten Island combined), Westchester and Long Island, was played at the American Legion Brooklyn Field Complex.

The single-elimination opening round saw the Grays handily defeat the Our Lady of Grace team from Queens, 12-4. Moving into the double-elimination championship round, the Grays opened with a tightly contested 6-4 loss to the Brooklyn Cardinals. This set up a win or go home game against the tournament favorites, the NY Bonnies. With their pitching staff depleted, the Grays were outgunned by the Bonnies, 10-4. The Cardinals easily won their semi-final game and squared off with the Bonnies for the championship. That tilt saw the Bonnies win a close one to claim the 2010 Metro NY Association berth in the AABC Northeast Regional and a chance to advance to the AABC World Series in Tennessee.

Congratulations to David Butler, Joseph Malandro and Thomas Zwicke for being selected to play in the annual Greater NY Sandlot Athletic Alliance All-Star game at MCU Park, home of the NY Mets class A farm team, the Brooklyn Cyclones. The boys were nominated by their coaches and participated in an earlier tryout at Eisenhower Park.

While all three boys played well in the game, a special congratulation goes out to David Butler as he was selected co-MVP of the game. David collected two RBI doubles and pitched two innings of shut-out ball to help his team to victory.
