Stingrays Win Winter Chill
Covington, Ga-- In their first tournament of the spring 2010 season, the Georgia Stingrays won the Winter Chill Tournament in Covington, Georgia. Competing in the open division, the Stingrays started the tournament with a 3-2 win over the Longhorns in the tournament's 8:00am opening game. The Rays immediately turned around and played the eventual tournament runner-up, the Thunder, losing 9-5 after a late five-run rally by the Thunder. The third game of the day pitted the Stingrays against the Pressure. After an eventful game, the Rays roared back and won 9-8. The final pool play game came with a multitude of possibilities, as there were four teams vying for a spot in the championship game. Despite the pressure, the Rays held off a late-inning rally to beat the East Cobb Bullets, 6-4.
In the championship game, the Stingrays got a measure of revenge, by defeating the Thunder in the Championship game 4-2. With the win, the Rays earned their first tournament title of the young season.
Despite the cold temperatures and the long day, a number of Stingrays had exceptional days at the plate and in the circle. Jessica Goddard (Sequoyah HS, 2011) led the way offensively, hitting .556 with a double and a triple, while accounting for nine runs (four RBI and five runs scored). Audrie Pryor (Creekview HS, 2012) also had a standout day offensively, hitting .467 with a triple and two doubles, four stolen bases on four attempts, three RBI and four runs scored.
Also contributing were Molly Uhrman (Kennesaw Mountain HS, 2013), who hit .333 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and four runs scored, and Rachel Mixon (North Forsyth HS, 2013) who also hit .333, had two stolen bases, four walks, and four runs scored.
In the circle, Mixon and Savannah Smarch (Peachtree Ridge HS, 2013) shared the load. Mixon went 2-1 with a save and an ERA of 2.93 over 14.1 innings. Smarch went 2-0 with an ERA of 3.66 over 7.2 innings.
Next up for the Stingrays will be the King of the Mountian Tournament in Covington on March 27th and 28th.

Georgia Stingrays Second Poker tournament
Tournament Registration Information
For the second time in as many months, the Georgia Stingrays will be hosting a Texas Hold 'Em Poker Tournament at the Woodmont Country Club in Canton. This month's tournament will take place on Saturday, February 27th at 7:00pm.
The initial buy-in is $50 with options to re-buy and add-on throughout the tournament. Fir1st place prize will be a big screen, flat panel TV and Additional prizes will be based on the number of entrants! The Stingrays will also offer raffles throughout the evening. Food and a cash bar is also available!
Click on the accompanying file above for registration information. Anyone who registers before Saturday afternoon will receive extra chips at the start of the tournament.
All proceeds will go to the Georgia Stingrays softball team.
