Give It A Ride wins 2011 Victorville Toys for Kids Tourney
Congratulations Give It A Ride! The team went undefeated into the championship and saved the best offensive drive for last. In the championship our bats were unstoppable- 14 runs in one inning? Yeah, we've got that. Great defense too! Thanks to Bryan, Willie, Joe, Derrick, Russell, Mike L., Mike C., Terry, Joey, Ryan, and Frank for playing! Good to win a tourney again. I'll be talking to Valley Sporting Goods to see what kind of team gear we can afford with our voucher that we won. Stats coming soon......

Cracked Bats!
The other morning we cracked 4 bats at bp. Thankfully, each had a different owner. It's been cold lately though, so you might want to keep your batting practice balls inside the house until right before bp and if you have a bat warmer, fire that thing up in the microwave (just watch the element.....they tend to overcook and pop easily as they age). See you at bp!
T.A.O. baby!
Let's take a moment to consider all our little ones who are looking at us to model how they should act and treat others. They are watching us.......
T.A.O. is key to our team's success! When we forget these principles, things start to fall apart, but when we follow them, things generally seem to fall into place.
TEAMWORK- work together, we win and lose as a team. Talk each other up, keep it positive. Be willing to play any position and bat anywhere in the lineup-they are all important spots. NEVER tear a teammate down- if you do so in the heat of the moment, take the time to make it right when you settle down.
GOOD ATTITUDES- this makes such a big difference in the way we win or lose. Win with honor and lose with dignity. Sometimes this is hard to do, but with a trash talking opponent, saying ANYTHING always makes it worse. Put aside showboating, showing up the competition, and negative comments, let the scoreboard do the talking so you can just be a nice guy out there. Be cool to newbies, they are the future of softball and will either enjoy playing WITH you or AGAINST you in your retirement years (you decide).
ON-BASE PERCENTAGE- with the guys we have and the games we play in, it's important to get a good pitch to hit. Don't feel bad if sometimes this means a walk. Walks help win ball games and slow down the game when we are up to bat. If you don't get your pitch, someone else in the lineup will. We have all seen the games when this happens and we roll through the batting order a couple of times in one inning because of this. With the hitters we have on our team (former batting champs from top to bottom), a high team on-base % means championships. Don't forget batting practice either. No one ever got better just by wanting to. Practice, practice, practice and then enjoy the results!
Thanks for considering it.
