PLAYOFF INFO! SCROLL DOWN BELOW!
The Greater Pittsburgh Christian Athletic League consists of Christian schools in the Greater Pittsburgh area. The league has grown from its inception of about 4-5 teams to 10 teams. Teams are divided into two divisions usually by enrollment and compete in various sports during the year. Girls' volleyball and coed soccer are offered in the fall, and basketball for boys' and girls' teams is offered during the winter. Each team plays a regular season schedule with the top 4 from each division making the playoffs.
Emphasis is placed on the Christian athlete competing in the sport's realm. Prayer is evidenced before each game, and coaches are encouraged to incorporate Bible study, prayer, and positive Christian role modeling during the season. The league is run by three elected officials in cooperation with the individual schools athletic director, each of whom has a vote in any league changes. An annual spring meeting requires mandatory representation by each school to ensure communication and consistency throughout the league.
New schools wishing to join the league should contact Ernie Balak at Central Christian Academy (724.746.4902). Teams must submit an application by March 15 for the upcoming year, which will be reviewed and voted on at the annual spring meeting in May. Schools must be able to field at least two sports teams in either the spring or winter.
