Bucs Beat Beavercreek In Bottom of 7th

The Bucs came back in the bottom of the 6th inning to tie the game at 7 -7 and scored the winning run in the bottom of the 7th with back to back doubles by Jordan Scott and Andrew Bolka.

Trophy Shop beats Patterson Park in season opener
XENIA — Xenia Trophy Sports Center began its 2010 summer baseball season Tuesday evening with a home game against the Patterson Park Warriors.

Trophy Sports started off strong in the bottom of the first inning when Tyler Williams took the first pitch he saw and sent it down the left field line, setting the tone for the evening. When the first inning was over Trophy Sports had batted through the order and with singles from Danny Thomas and Evan Montgomery and a sacrifice fly from Zack Newsock they had plated four runs.

Trophy Sports went on to win, 15-7.

Patterson Park battled back in the second scoring one run with two outs when Korosei walked Gibson followed with a single and Rorher reached on an error. Trophy retaliated with two more runs in their half of the second when Tyler Williams led the attack again this time with a walk followed by his stealing of second. Troy Koze and Nick Cain both walked and Jordan Scott then sacrificed himself with a fly ball to center field scoring Williams. Koze scored when Andrew Bolka’s fly ball to left field was mishandled and Trophy led 6-1 after two innings.

Patterson Park just would not go away they chipped away at Trophy Sports Center’s lead all night scoring one run in the third and fourth innings two in the fifth inning and one in the sixth.

In the bottom of the fifth Trophy scored again when Andrew Bolka singled and Billy Fostor clobbered a triple to left center field.

In the bottom half of the sixth inning Trophy Sports had enough and with singles by Koze, Cain, Thomas, and Cody Barnett assisted by walks by Fostor, Jared Albertson, Bolka, and Thomas Trophy put up seven runs making the score 15-6. Patterson Park added one run in the top of the seventh when Lingle walked stole second and went to third on a wild pitch. He was able to cross home on a muffed pick off attempt at second base caused by Wilson reaching base on a walk. Jordan Scott ended the seventh single handedly by striking out two and snagging a line drive up the middle.

The pitching trio of Evan Montgomery, Andrew Bolka, and Jordan Scott secured the win for the home team. Korosei took the loss for Patterson Park.

Xenia, Tipp win ACME baseball titles

VANDALIA — Xenia Trophy Sports defeated Vandalia Butler 11-4 on Wednesday, July 15, to win the Ohio District 5 ACME baseball championship.

Nick Cain was the winning pitcher and put his team ahead for good, 4-3, in the third inning with a bases-loaded double. Trophy Sports added seven runs in the fifth sparked by Jordan Scott’s three-run double.

Xenia now faces District 8 champion Tippecanoe in the ACME state tournament which begins Saturday at Lima Shawnee High School.

It’s the first trip to state for Xenia. ACME teams are composed of incoming sophomores, juniors and seniors from their respective school districts. District 5 is made up of high school summer teams from Montgomery, Greene, Butler, Warren and Clinton counties. District 8 is made up of teams from Miami, Shelby, Darke and Preble counties.

Tipp defeated Piqua 8-0 on Tuesday at Northmont High School with David Moore tossing a three-hit shutout.
