    So long................
We use to say we would be together forever and some said "When Pigs Fly". Well we were together for a long time for sure. Our memories and many other people's memories of this team will last forever. So I guess pigs do fly. We had quite a run. We accomplished much. We left our mark on many teams and tournaments and we still are. The original Groove Girls are still playing and we still have that Groovy spirit instilled in us and it will probably carry us through our entire life. We will probably pass that same spirit on to our daughters because it was the most incredible run of fun, friendship and softball that any team has experienced. Our team name describes it perfectly. The original team is gone but their spirit lives on. If you ever played the Groove Girls and came to this website looking to see what they are doing we will just say this, they are having a Groovy time somewhere on the softball field and still looking to be PlayMikers.

    Groove Finishes Strong
The Groove Finished their 2007 Season strong with a 2nd place finish at the Pancho Claus 18U Tournament in San Antonio. After sleepwalking through their only pool game and losing 3-0 to the Bombers 94, the Groove finally woke up Saturday to an impressive 19-6 tally in their next two games, including beating a very strong Bombers Royal team. Sunday morning started with another close game with the very motivated Nightmare 94 team, but the Groove remained in control, winning 2-1. Next, the Nightmare 92. What a game - a pitcher's duel 0-0 tie after 70 minutes went to International Tie Breaker and the groove stumbled on defense, losing 3-0. Next up - the South Texas Elite. The Groove and Elite had played each other 3 times in the past - all coming down to the last inning, and this time was no different. The Groove stepped out with 2 in the first inning, and gave one back in the bottom. The score remained there until the 4th inning, where the Groove added another. The Groove held it's breath, needing only three outs to secure the victory. They had been there before - remembering the crushing loss at the the Ronald McDonald only a month ago where the Elite (eventual tournament Champions) came back and shocked the Groove by erasing their 2-run lead in the last inning, and winning 4-2. This time - the Groove held it's 3-1 advantage with three quick outs and moved on to the championship - a rematch with the Nightmare 92. The championship taught the Groove a lot as we learned what it means to be a really good 18U team. The Nightmare played excellent defense, had strong pitching, and hit the ball in gaps the entire game. The Groove did not give up and hit some shots of their own, but the strong Nightmare defenders made great plays and held the Groove scoreless. Final score 6-0.

Overall - the Groove made the coaches and parents proud. They played good ball to finish out the season - beat two teams who had owned us in previous meetings (Bombers Royal and Elite), and showed really good signs for the future. The girls are prepared now for high school ball, and we will take some time to break until the high-school season is complete. Go Groove!!!

    Groove Wins first 14U Championship
October 14, 2012 The Groove Dominated in it's last local 14U tournament, with an impressive 28-1 run tally in bracket play. Impressive wins over the LH Lightn, the Texas Stix, and 2 -vs- the RR Blaze meant the Groove took home the hardware. The pitching staff and defense were on fire allowing only 4 runs the entire tournament. Special thanks go to our guest player for the weekend - Maggie, Kelsy, and Sarah. Ronald McDonald - here we come!!!

GREAT TEAMS BEGIN WITH GREAT TEAMMATES

    Welcome to our Groovy website!

The Groove Places 5th in First 18U Tournament
October 1, 2007 The Groove placed 5th out of 20 teams in their first 18U tournament. The Groove Girls were relaxed and had fun in San Marcos. They put on an offensive show Saturday with some great hitting and base running, they then played some tough teams Sunday ending with a very respectable 6-2 record. The Groove answered alot of questions this weekend. Can they still hit? We scored over 40 runs - with some serious firepower and some ESPN highlights! How's their defense? We gave up only 8 runs in 8 games! Pitching? With only 2 pitchers for the weekend - Jess and Vern were on FIRE keeping the batters in check and then letting their defense do their job. What a way to start the season. The Groove proved that they could hang in 18U. Thanks to the parents and the fans in the stands. It was nice to see that the Groove can still pull in a crowd. See you in Georgetown.

February 1, 2006 The Groove would like to announce its alliance with Dripping Springs Youth Sports Association. As a accomplished Travel Team, the Groove organization intends to support the rec program and help with the growth of softball in the Dripping Springs community. We'll be helping with player/coaching clinics, field maintenance, player development and fundraisers supporting DSYSA.
