All players (12U and above), coaches, and parents interested in umpiring. Umpire training for the 2012 season will take place at Dos Pueblos High School on Sunday, February 26th at 10 AM.
Umpires can receive credit in one of the following ways: Community service hours (for youth umpires) Fulfill GVGSA volunteer commitment (5 games) $5-25 per game depending on age level of games worked and degree of umpire experience
All umpires are, of course, eligible for the following rewards: the satisfaction of a job well done, a feeling of self improvement, and the good feelings that go with helping local kids have fun and learn the game of softball.
Details on the training: Please bring a $25 deposit (check preferred). Your deposit will be returned upon completion of five games. Face mask, plate hat, and indicator (clicker). (Note that GVGSA has masks and indicators for use; however, please bring your own if you have them.) Please wear comfortable attire so you can move around in and wear tennis shoes or cleats.
Participants will receive Youth Restricted status certifications. For $40 more (not covered by the GVGSA), you can receive Unrestricted status certification. Training is scheduled for four hours (but has been as short as two in the past) and includes full registration and instruction.

We want to thank all of the girls for coming out and participating in the evaluations. Team formations are under way and you should be hearing from your Manager within the next couple of weeks. Remember, Opening Day is March 3rd so be sure to mark your calendars.
