Hamilton Pirates 2011 Preview

Manager: Joe DiIorio

Team inception: 2004

2010 Record: (11-8-1); 4th in division.

How ‘10 finished: The Pirates lost to the Burlington Bandits in the playoffs for the second year in a row.

2010 Highlights: Jimmy Lawton posted a .462 average for the Pirates with 3 home runs and 20 RBI, while pitching 20 innings and collecting 5 wins. Rick Andrade represented the Pirates at the GHBL All-Star Game by winning the ‘Hit-Run-Throw’ competition.

New for 2010: New hats and some new flashy garments. Adam Doyle will be back for a full season = Wood bats don’t stand a chance.

Key Losses: Due to new work commitments, Adam Neale may not be playing as many games as in previous years.

Team goals for 2010: Pitching and defence will gain a boost with Doyle injected back into the lineup and with Lamanes being healthy, the Pirates are now back at full strength. The Pirates’ pitching and defence have been strong points, as the second year of wood bats progresses, the Pirates will be swinging a mightier axe this season.

Players to watch: Many Pirates need to have bounce-back years. Each team member knows that they are capable of doing much more on the field.
