TRY-OUTS FOR THE UPCOMING 2012 SEASON.........WE TEACH SKILLS FIRST
Sting Basketball Club is currently building the following DEVELOPMENTAL girls teams;   3rd/4th Girls,  5th Girls & 8th Girls.
High School Teams will for in March.
I have a few spots for ELITE VARSITY LEVEL GOLD VIEWING TEAM....Players need to already be advanced high school standouts to participate.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
" Try - Outs"  will be similar to a practice. Drills will be ran as a team,  Please be sure to send daughter with a bottled water.  If child is not coming with a parent or guardian please call ahead so I can email U a waiver form for your child to bring.  Sting Basketball Club is very affordable compared to other clubs, please call to discuss cost or with other questions you will have.  After teams are chosen we will have a parent meeting and discuss the schedule, length of season, costs and answer questions.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM.

Please do not think that your daughter is not good enough to play on club teams, especially at the younger ages.  Some high school girls may have trouble jumping right on a Team.  Younger ages have more time to train and develop into advanced players and sometimes it just takes learning proper footwork or technique.  If you are seeing your daughter struggle in city league or NJB it is often because it is a recreational league designed just for fun, many coaches are volunteers and games are often wild and out of control.
With Sting Basketball your daughter will go from playing ugly basketball to playing nice organized hoop.  Tournaments are very exciting
and fun to watch.  OUR MAIN GOAL is to prepare your daughter to possibly play 4 year varsity basketball and increase her chance of playing after high school from junior college to Division 1 sports. Currently every Sting basketball player that has played in program 2 or more years before high school has made varsity their freshman year.

If your daughter is in 3rd thru 6th grades and you are interested in LEARNING TO play high level basketball and learning the necessary skills to do so....please contact  our director JIM @ 559-772-9813.   or email  calsting559@gmail.com

TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS by FILA & MICHAEL T WHITES EVENTS  www.michaeltwhite.com
Over the weekend Cal-Sting 16U took advantage of the college viewing period by participating in the Tournament Of Champions in Santa Ana Ca.  Playing in the top National Division with 12 Elite teams the girls went 3 - 1 and finished in 5th place.  Coach Jim says he could not be more proud of the girls heart and performance playing extremely intense defense and averaging 60 points per game.  Sting was also the only 16U team in the National Division and often faced girls at heights of 6'4.  " We had a tough draw being at the top the bracket which boasted the tournaments 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and consolation champs"  Our first game was verse  Cal Swift. Sting quickly fell down 8 - 0 but after getting rid of the, Sting stormed back and took a 17 point lead and led by 12 at the half.  The second half was a battle as Swift was not going down easy as they cut the lead to 4 with just minutes left.  Cal Sting made some critical plays and made free throws when necessary and the final was 57 - 54.  Second game was verse Team Aloha from Hawaii a very fast and seasoned basketball team.  Sting again came out flat and fell down 8-0.  Sting was able to battle throughout the first half cutting the lead to 4 several times and dropped down 16 at times. At the half it was a 8 point game.  Hawaii being deep and very very conditioned was able to tire Cal Sting who was playing with just 8 players. The final was 61 - 45.  This dropped Cal Sting down to the 5th place bracket as on Sunday they faced Team Mercadel.  Sting was the team to start quick in this game raising to a 17 - 4 lead and maintaining the difference throughout the game.   Finally in the 5th place game Cal Sting 16u faced Fresno Stars 17u.  The stars had played Team Mercadel on Saturday and won 71-67.Again Cal Sting managed to take control early jumping out to a 17 point lead but Fresno managed to get the score down to 5 in the second half before Sting pushed it back to double digits and was able to run out the clock for a final score of 60 - 51.    While most teams in the quarterfinals played teams that lost from the bottom bracket Cal Sting was matched up with Team Aloha 17U who came off a 68 -35 win over Balboa Hills 2011 17U. More info stats and pictures will be added soon...................
