The Havertown Eagles finish the regular season with a 15-3 record and claim the 1st overall seed in the league heading into the playoffs! This is the 5th straight year the Eagles have taken home the Penn division pennant and the #1 top seed!
Although the Eagles made an early exit in the playoffs having to play a one game elimination round, it was a good year with many new faces. The Eagles look to build even stronger for next season. 2009 Havertown Eagles Players of the week!

Week 1 vs. the Reds- John Lee and Bret Binder both notched a win on the hill. In game 1 John lee controlled the Reds only allowing 6 hits while striking out 11. Eagles won game one 10-5. In game 2 Bret Binder took the hill and only gave up 4 hits while striking out 9. Eagles won game two 6-4. Dave Polgar, Craig Denlinger, and Marcus Spero all also had a great days. Dave was 1 for 2 with a HR, 3-BB, and 3 runs scored. Denlinger was 4 for 7 with 2 rbi's and Spero was 3 for 7 with 2 doubles and 4 rbi's! Great job gentlemen!

Week 2 vs. the Blue Rocks- The Eagles were swept by the Blue Rocks! It was not the Eagles day from start to finish. There are no highlights except for the other teams. Was it the Cheltenham sh*t field curse? I don't know but I am quite positive the Eagles will bounce back strong and recapture their stride. No players of the week were chosen for this week.

Week 3 vs. the Mustangs- rained out~

Week 4 vs. the Phillies- The Eagles get back on track with a sweep of the Phillies and move into a 3 way tie for 1st place in the Penn Division. John Lee threw a shut out in game one striking out 5 and Dave Polgar had an offensive explosion on the day going 4 for 6 with 2 doubles, 2 triples, and 2 RBI's! Brett Hiett was also 2 for 4 on the day with a double, 2 walks, and 2 runs scored. Nice job team!

Week 5 vs. the Comets- The Eagles swept the Philadelphia Comets with the hot bat of Mark Gilliford and the strong arm of Bret Binder! The Eagles move to 6-2 and are starting to get things rolling. Mark Gilliford had one heck of a day at the plate going 5for7! Mark had 2 singles, 2 doubles, and a home run. Mark also drove in all 3 of the teams runs in game 2! Bret Binder controlled the comets bats in game 2 only allowing 2 hits through 5 innings of work. Bret only allowed 5 hits total on the day while striking out 8 batters and zero earned runs!

Week 6 vs. the Dodgers- Jim Dirisio and Craig Denlinger provided much needed offense in game one. Craig from the top of the line up was 2 for 4 with a run scored. Jim Dirisio was on base all 3 plate appearances and also scored a run. John Lee took care of the rest from the hill notching his 4th win of the season.

    Week 7 vs. the Colt45's- rained out~

Week 8 vs. the Yankees- rained out~

Week 9 vs. the Colt45's- The Eagles offense explodes with a two game sweep of the Colt45's!!! Pitching is always solid for the Eagles but the Eagles offense was on fire this past Sunday! Mark Gilliford was 5 for 7 with 2 rbi's and 3 runs scored. Craig Denlinger went 3 for 5 with 2 walks, 5 rbi's, and 3 runs scored. Brett Hiett was also 3 for 5 with 2 stolen bases and 3 runs scored. James Nix was 4 for 4 with 2 rbi's! Great job to all of these guys and to the rest of the Eagles team. Together Everyone Accomplishes More.

Week 10 vs. the A's- The Eagles looked damn sharp in all phases of the game on this day. In game one, John Lee threw a 2 hit shut out while striking out 9 batters! Brett Hiett and James Nix both had rbi doubles at the plate while on the bases, Dave Polgar and Sam Miller stole the show. In game 2 action, Brett Binder controlled the A's offense striking out 7 batters through 6 innings of work. Marcus Spero exploded at the plate in game two going 4 for 5 with two doubles and an rbi! Way to go team!

Week 11 vs. the Comets- John lee and Bret Binder were nearly untouchable on the mound. In game 1, John Lee only allowed 2 runs off of 5 hits while striking out 7 batters. In game 2 action Bret Binder did the same only allowing 1 run through 6 innings of work and when the game got a lil close in the 7th, Binder stepped up and shut the door on the Comets offense. Keith Gorman and Steve McDermett scored the runs and, Jim Casey was 2 for 2 with 2 walks and 2 runs scored!

Week 12 vs. the Dodgers- Mark Gilliford and Chris Kestner had a big day! Chris Kestner was nothing short of perfect defensively! Chris had 17 put outs on the day at shortstop and 3 hits on the day. Mark Gilliford only knew how to hit doubles as he had 4 of them with 4 rbi's! Brett Hiett also had a heck of a day going 5 for 7! Nice job fella's!!

Week 13 vs. the A's- rained out

Week 14 (Playoffs) vs. winner of the Reds/A's match up- The Eagles faced the Reds in their round one playoff game. The Eagles battled but fell short. Too bad for the Eagles as it was the end of their playoff run with the game being a one game elimination. Yes, it is a stupid playoff system but the Eagles knew going in they had to get the job done and did not. Next year the Eagles will be certain not to let that ever happen again!
