Hill Country Cowboys Mission Statement
The Hill Country Cowboys Youth Football organization operates on the belief and principle that every athlete who wants to participate in the sport of football should be developed in a program that is designed to make them successful as an individual and as part of a team.
The goal of Hill Country Football is to develop the expectation of success through respect, character, work ethic and attitude creating a confident individual who will carry this attitude into all aspects of life.
To achieve the goal of developing this type of individual and organization we choose to compete in a league based on age divisions without weight limits because we believe that age is a much more important factor than weight at this point in an athlete’s life. We realize that every athlete grows and develops between seasons so we believe that it is necessary to conduct position evaluations at the beginning of each season to determine an individual’s potential at every position on the team. The Hill Country Football training and practice program is designed to develop the individual skills necessary to meet our goals as a team and as an organization, while creating program unity and pride across all age groups by practicing as one organization.
Please know that there will be minimum play game players. CTYFL requires a minimum of 8 plays per half for each player. Please understand that there will be players who develop at different speeds and some will need to be protected in the uncontrolled game environment by reducing their exposure. We prefer to have these players progress in the controlled practice environment to a point where they can safely participate in the uncontrolled game environment. Players that miss practice or do not participate fully in practice will have game plays reduced below the 8 play per half minimum.
