Raiders Prep for 2011 Season
December 2, 2010
Coming off a successful Baltimore Metro season this past summer and some reputable performances in tournaments, the HCYP Raiders look to their 2011 season with every intention of turning some heads. The Raiders move up a division this season, climbing to the 16-U Baltimore Metro league. With the core of the team returning, the Raiders look very strong and the new additions to the team this year have provided them with the necessary depth at certain positions and sound hitters in their lineup.
The Raiders are wasting no time this off-season with preparation, having already scheduled their winter workouts twice a week for January and February, prior to high school seasons commencing.
Please stay tuned for more details on your 16-U HCYP Raiders team!!!
Raiders Take 6 Seed Going into Day 2 of Tournament
July 17, 2010 – 12:00 AM
The Raiders have taken the 6th seed in the ECTB Clash of Champions Tournament in Bethlehem, PA after playing 2 games this morning. The Raiders opened their tournament play this morning at 9:30 against the North Jersey Expos. Raiders ace, Brandon Feuerman, started for the Raiders and got off to a rough start, allowing 5 runs early on. However, Feuerman was able to find his rhythm and went on to pitch a complete game and earn the W thanks to some strong offensive support. Ferraro and Delaney had solid performances at the plate. The Raiders pulled off a 10-7 win.
The Raiders squared off against the Springfield Roadrunners in Game 2 of the tournament. The Raiders had previously met the Roadrunners in the Ripken 15U IronMan Classic at the beginning of the season, but did not end up playing one another because the Roadrunners only qualified for the consolation game. Patrick Wethington started on the mound for the Raiders and got off to a similar start as Feuerman did in Game 1, allowing 5 early runs. Unfortunately, the Raiders' offense was unable to battle back in this one, losing to the Roadrunners, 5-2. Ben Baker relieved Wethington after the second inning and went on to pitch 5 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts, keeping the Raiders in the game.
The Raiders 1 and 1 record with 12 runs allowed was good enough to earn them the 6th seed going into Day 2 of the ECTB tournament. The Raiders continue their tournament play tomorrow morning at 8 am against the Quakertown Area Panthers, who claimed the 3 seed after winning both of their games today.

Raiders Place 6th in Baltimore Metro League Junior Division
July 13, 2010 – 02:15 PM
The Raiders concluded their 2010 Baltimore Metro League season this past Saturday with a doubleheader against the Forest Hill Storm (16). Unfortunately, the Raiders were unable to walk away with a win on Saturday, ending their season with a 4-game losing streak. Despite a rough and unfavorable conclusion to the season, the Raiders finished in 6th place in the Junior Division behind some very strong teams, most of which consist of older players too. The Raiders got off to a great start this season, but were plagued with a number of injuries that led to a number of their players finding themselves in unfamiliar positions. However, the Raiders persevered and continued to find themselves amongst the top teams in the division for the majority of the Metro season. Only at the end did they find themselves losing their slot in the standings to the Frederick Hustlers and WHC Renegades, both teams that the Raiders beat during their encounters earlier in the season. The Raiders have developed immensely over the course of the past 3 months and will surely be one of the tougher teams to beat next year.
In addition to performing well in their Baltimore Metro League division, the Raiders also competed in a number of tournaments this season, advancing to the semi-finals in the Ripken 15-U IronMan Classic and the championship game in the Little Orioles 4th of July Tournament. The Raiders dropped a close game to the Arena Starz in the Ripken Classic, a pitching duel that was decided in the late innings. The Starz later went on to win the tournament as well. In the 4th of July tournament, the Raiders would have taken the championship, but the championship game was cancelled after the other tournament semi-final game broke out into a bench-clearing brawl. The Raiders were slated to face the 16-U Orioles, whom they had faced earlier in the tournament and tied 6-6 thanks to the 2-hour time limit rule. At the time when the game was cut off, the Raiders were threatening with runners on first and second with 1 out. Raiders' hitters had successfully worked through the Orioles' #1 and #2 pitchers at that point as well.
The Raiders continue their overall season with two more tournament appearances, one of which is the ECTB Clash of Champions in Bethlehem, PA this upcoming weekend and then the Sports at the Beach tournament in Rehoboth Beach, DE the following weekend.
Raiders Take 1 Seed in 4th of July Tournament
The Raiders clinched the 1 seed this afternoon with their 9-1 win over Severna Park. Raiders pitching and defense held Severna Park to only 1 run, beating out the Orioles for the 1st seed in their division with less runs allowed. The Raiders played the Orioles Friday evening and tied due to the 2-hour hard cut off time limit set forth in the tournament rules. The Raiders were threatening in the bottom of the last inning with 1 out and runners on first and second when the Orioles' coach and shortstop called a series of time outs to stall time and let the last few minutes of the game run out. The Orioles played again earlier today and won 4-2, earning them the number 2 seed in the division. The Raiders continue tournament play tomorrow morning at 10 am at Northeast High School. Raiders Amongst Top Teams in the Metro League
June 15, 2010 – 10:20 AM
The HCYP Raiders continue to perform well on the field and find themselves amongst the top teams in the league halfway through the Baltimore Metro League season. Currently, the Raiders are 11-5 and look to add some more wins to their record this week as they take on the Maryland Cardinals, Frederick Hustlers, and Yankee Rebels.
Raiders pitching has fluctuated a little bit, but Raiders' pitchers continue to battle and keep batters offguard in their outings. At the plate, the Raiders continue to put the ball in play and make the opposing team work hard defensively. They have compiled 126 runs thus far, on 149 hits, 28 doubles, and 106 RBI's. With their speed, the Raiders have been the pitcher's worst nightmare on the base paths, accumulating 70 stolen bases so far, with Dichoso and Ferraro leading the way.
In addition to finishing the remaining half of the season strong, the Raiders are looking forward to participating in a number of upcoming tournaments on the East Coast and bringing back some awards and trophies.
Thank you to everyone for their support and attendance thus far!!!

Raiders Finish Strong in Pre-Season Tournament
May 17, 2010 – 04:10 PM
The Raiders finished strong this past weekend at the 15u IronMan Classic, making it to the quarterfinals as the No. 2 seed, before falling to the No. 7 seeded, Arena Stars, who later went on to win the tournament. The Raiders' exhibited sound pitching performances backed by solid defense and offense throughout the entirety of the tournament, but had their championship hopes cut short in the last inning of the quarterfinal game when the opposing team's bats came alive.
