FLEXIBLE SCHEDULING, CAR POOLING:

As in years past, there will be an option for parents to indicate which nights need to be avoided to allow for car pooling, scouting, ski club, religious ed, etc. Also, car pooling requests are considered. We do our best to honor all such requests.

SETTING UP HIGH SCHOOL TEAMS:

You are allowed to create your own teams by providing a list of your team members. If you have less than 10, we may need to add players to your team to ensure everyone is on a roster. Contact davidgay@rochester.rr.com to start that process.

ACTIVITIES:

A clinic (held over several nights) will be held for 2nd graders.

Teams are formed for 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, and 9-12.

Teams play one night per week at an HFL school. All scheduled events for all levels will be on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday this year (teams play on one of those nights each week).

A second grade clinic will be held - dates are TBD.

3-4 graders start in December. We are starting with several weeks of clinics before teams are formed.

5-12 graders will start in January. Note this is a change from last year.

VOLUNTEERS:

The success of this organization relies on parent volunteers. We need coaches and assistant coaches at all levels. No prior experience is needed - although it helps quite a bit. We will teach you what you need to know - or we will pair you with someone who is experienced. Email davidgay@rochester.rr.com for more details.

BACKGROUND:

Mendon Recreation sponsors a co-ed recreational basketball league for 2-12 grade students living in the HFL school district. HFL BIL is intended to be a basic instructional league for the younger students and a recreational league for the older students.

This league is a good match for students who are not interested in the time commitment or intensity that are typical of interscholastic teams or travel teams. Games are typically light-hearted, with attention put less towards winning than on getting out and having fun with students on a cold winter night.
