John Barker Basketball
Our league believes it is very important to outline our philosophy and some simple rules for our program. This program is successful because everyone works together. We have grown to 9 travel teams and 7 grades for town league. We have also intoduced a high school league. Click on the high school tab for more information. The town program starts in second grade and goes through eighth grade. There are no cuts and everyone is on a team. The travel program starts in fourth grade and goes through eighth grade. There are tryouts and not every player will make a travel team. With this growth, we need to remind everyone about our philosophy and some simple rules. John Barker Rules require that travel players play in the town league. In the town league playing time is equal. Coaches are asked to develop all players regardless of skill level and create a fun environment. The Travel Programs are competitive and playing time may not be equal. At the numbers we have on some teams, it maybe difficult to play everyone equally and it is up to the discretion of the coach. Please review the "Parent/coach's/player expectations" tab on the left and the " Coach's ethics and sportmanship" tab also. Players all develop at different levels and time so not making a travel team now does not mean that they won't make one in the future. We are looking forward to a fun and exciting year!!!
Attention Coaches!!
