Vitelli Earns 1st Team LML Selection; 9 Others Honored

The Horsham American Legion Baseball Team (14-10, 14-9 LML) received many accolades Wednesday night from its successful season as ten players from its 2009 roster were represented on the 2009 Lower Montco League Teams.
Nick Vitelli (.360 AVG-82B-11RBI) shared the honor of First-Team LML 3rd baseman with Ft. Washington's Corey Meyer. Vitelli was the lone Horsham player to receive a First-Team accolade.
Horsham's Matt Hollenbeck, Nick Riccione as well as the outfield pair of Matt Merenich and Casey Saverio combined to highlight the LML Second-Team.
Horsham's entire pitching staff received LML Honorable-Mention honors as Matt Schoettle, Matt Hollenbeck, Eric Bahmueller and Dave Amodei were an instrumental part to the success of Horsham's season. Eric Heaney and Brett Saverio also rounded out Horsham's representation as both received Honorable-Mention honors.
The 2009 Lower Montco League Champions, Ft. Washington, placed six players on the LML First-Team as well as its best player, Brandon Sady, earning MVP honors.
Ft. Washington Wins LML Championship

The Ft. Washington Golden Generals (21-2-1) captured the 2009 LML Championship early Sunday afternoon with a 6-1 victory over the Warminster Warriors (16-8-1).
The Golden Generals and the Warriors will now both move on to the Region 3 Tournament beginning Saturday in Spring City. Best of Luck to both participating teams from the Lower Montco League....
Roslyn eliminates Horsham; will face Warminster

The 2009 Horsham American Legion Baseball season ended last night at the hands of Roslyn. Roslyn pitcher Ruch pitched a complete-game, while holding the Horsham offense to four hits striking out 12 batters along the way.
Horsham, who finished 14-9 in LML play, continued to play erratic defense down the stretch of its season and its inability to drive in runs in critical situations proved costly in its early exit from the Lower Montco League Playoffs.
The Horsham American Legion Baseball Team would like to congratulate Matt Merenich and Mike Pallas for their contributions to the Horsham American Legion Baseball Program throughout the years as both players have exhausted their eligibility to play American Legion Baseball.
Horsham Falls to Warminster; Faces Roslyn Tomorrow

Warminster pitcher Dan Doyle pitched a complete-game and moved the Warriors into the winner's bracket final tomorrow night at Ft. Washington. Doyle (7IP, 8H, 3R, 3ER, 3BB, 7K) did a good job of dodging the Horsham offense throughout the night as Horsham stranded 8 runners over the course of the game.
Horsham starting pitcher Matt Schoettle (4IP, 2H, 3R, 2ER, 4BB, 3K) had his shortest outing of the year before giving way to Eric Bahmueller, who took the loss, pitched the final two innings of relief.
Offensively, Casey Saverio (3-4 3B RBI, 2SB) continued to give Horsham solid production at the top of their order.
Horsham will host Roslyn tomorrow night in a "loser go home" matchup at Clifford Hendrickson Field.Matt Hollenbeck will have the ball for Horsham. First pitch is set for 5:30pm.
Horsham Begins Quest Towards LML Title

The Horsham American Legion Team entered the 2009 season coming off one of its worst seasons in franchise history finishing 6th in the Lower Montco League Standings (8-10-3) at the conclusion of the 2008 season.
Times have changed and Horsham will begin the LML Playoffs Wednesday night at Munro Park against the Warminster Warriors. First pitch is set for 5:30pm.
Horsham, the #3 seed, finished LML play at 14-7 one point behind #2 seed Warminster. The Warriors took the season series from Horsham 2-1 on the year. Horsham won the last meeting between the two squads when it traveled to Munro Park on the first day of July and was victorious behind Horsham starting pitcher Matt Hollenbeck.
Horsham's Matt Schoettle (4-1 2.08, 2 saves), who closed the game out on July 1, will start on the mound for Horsham.
2-Run 7th Inning Gives Horsham Season Sweep Over Morelanders
July 5, 2009
Entering the bottom half of the 7th inning, Horsham trailed the cross-town rival, Morelanders 2-1. Horsham leadoff hitter Casey Saverio got things going with a 1-out two strike single to left field. As the younger Saverio reached second on a pass ball, his older brother Brett singled to right field giving Horsham runners on the corner with only one out. Brett Saverio then stole second base giving him his 3rd stolen base on the night and forcing the defending champs to intentionally walk Horsham's Matt Hollenbeck. Horsham's Nick Vitelli ripped a single to left field tieing the game at 2 where it set the stage for Horsham's leading hitter on the year, Matt Merenich, to record a sacrifice fly to centerfield that scored Brett Saverio.
Eric Bahmueller (2-2) pitched the final two innings in relief and got credit for the win for Horsham.
Horsham (14-8, 14-7 LML) will play Wednesday night at a site and time to be announced in the opening night of the Lower Montco League playoffs.
Late Rally Puts Horsham into LML Playoffs

The Horsham offense had its backs against the wall with two outs in the bottom half of the sixth inning and responded with 5 runs to capture a huge victory over visiting Roslyn, 10-9 before darkness ended the game after six innings. Horsham left the field Thursday night needing a victory Sunday against the Morelanders or a Morelanders loss in one of their last five playoff games to clinch a berth in next week's Lower Montco League Playoffs. Warminster defeated the 2008 LML Champions,Morelanders, with a 3-1 victory Friday night at Masons Mill park elminating the Morelanders from playoff contention and returning Horsham to the LML playoffs for the first time since 2007.
Horsham's Nick Vitelli had an outstanding game overall accounting for numerous highlight reel plays in the field and contributing with his bat as well (2-3 2B RBI). Matt Merenich (1-3 2B 2 RBI), Jack Abercrombie (1-3 2B 2RBI) and Matt Schoettle (1-3 2 RBi) provided solid offensive production on the night as well.
Horsham used three position players on the bump as most of its rotation had pitched along the week already. Casey Saverio, in his first appearence of the year, earned the victory in relief.
Horsham will be back on the field tonight taking on the Morelanders in its final game of the regular season. First pitch is set for 5pm.
4-Run 5th Inning Holds Off Warminster
July 2, 2009
In a game that would go far in separating the standings come playoff time, Horsham got an important 5-3 victory at Munro Park against the Warminster Warriors on Wednesday night.
Horsham starting pitcher Matt Hollenbeck battled through control problems thoughout the night (4 2/3 IP, 4H, 2R, 1ER, 8BB, 8K), but his most important stat of the night the "W" was placed under his name in the final box score. Matt Schoettle came through in a huge spot pitching 2 1/3 IP before picking up his second save of the season.
Horsham's veterans came through in a big way with Nick Vitelli (1-2 3B 2 RBI, SB) and Matt Merenich (2-3 2B RBI) providing big hits on the night.
Horsham (12-7, 12-8 overall) will be back in action tonight against 2nd place Roslyn at Clifford Hendrickson Field. First pitch is set for 6pm.
Same Storyline for Horsham in Defeat

Cedarbrook starting pitcher John Alexander pitched 5 strong innings on his way to earning a 3-2 victory against visiting Horsham on Tuesday night at Jenkintown HS.
Horsham continues to struggle offensively over its last three games where runners being stranded to end innings has become routine. Dave Amodei, who dropped to 4-4 on the season, pitched 5 innings before giving way to Matt Hollenbeck for the last inning.
Horsham will be back in action tomorrow night at Munro Park to conclude its three-game series with 2nd place Warminster. First pitch is set for 6pm.
Horsham Drops Second Straight Game

Horsham has fell short of victory the last two games and can point to two statistical categories, errors defensively and runners left on base. Horsham stranded twelve runners over the course of the game tonight, while committing three errors. Those totals combined with yesterday's game contribute to 19 runners stranded on base and 9 errors committed in the last two games.
Horsham starter Eric Bahmueller (1-2) lost command of the zone in the 5th inning before giving way to Eric Heaney. Heaney, in only his second appearence of the year, pitched 2 strong innings of relief. Dave Amodei pitched a scoreless 7th inning.
Jack Abercrombie (2-3 2B RBI) was the lone player to get into the multiple-hit column on the night. Abercrombie has now hit safely in 8 consecutive games which is the longest by any Horsham player this season.
Horsham is back in action tomorrow night against Cedarbrook. First pitch is set for 6pm.
Errors Prove Costly in Loss to Ft. Washington

Entering the bottom half of the seventh inning, it looked as if Horsham would pick up the final game of the three game series for the 2009 season with Ft. Washington. Unfortunately, Horsham fell victim to another late-game rally for the second straight game against the "Golden Generals."
Horsham pitcher Matt Schoettle pitched solid throughout the entire game and took his first loss of the year in defeat.
Offensively, the lower part of the order for Horsham continued to pace the offense with good at-bats throughout the day. Casey Saverio (2-2 2B, 2 RBI) and Matt Hollenbeck (2-4 2 2B, 3 RBI) were the only players to get into the multiple-hit column on the afternoon.
Horsham (11-5 LML, 11-6 overall) will be back in action tomorrow against Warminster at Clifford Hendrickson Field. First pitch is set for 6pm.
Horsham Holds Off Late Southampton Rally; Sweeps Series

Horsham starting pitcher Dave Amodei turned in another good performance pitching five scoreless innings. (5IP, 1H, 0R, 4K) However, the Southampton bats came alive in the 6th inning as Horsham was forced to bring in its most reliable pitcher on the year, Matt Schoettle. Schoettle closed the door on Southampton accounting for 1 1/3 IP on his way to recording his 2nd save of the season.
Casey Saverio continued to swing a hot bat for Horsham. Saverio (2-3 2B, 3 SB) has generated a consistent spark from his #9 spot in the order during Horsham's five game winning streak.

Horsham Sweeps DH with Huntingdon Valley

In the first game, Horsham starting pitcher Matt Schoettle set the pace for the entire day. Schoettle's effort (5IP, 4H, 0R, 9K) could have been the fuel that got the offense going throughout the doubleheader. Many hitters collected solid performances at the plate throughout the day.
Horsham will get back into action tomorrow facing Southampton as it begins its final two weeks of the regular season. First pitch is set for 6pm.
Team Effort Lifts Horsham Over Morelanders

Horsham continued to receive good pitching performances getting a solid outing from starting pitcher Dave Amodei (3-3 on the year). Amodei held the 2008 LML Champs scoreless through six innings before Eric Heaney relieved Amodei to record the final two outs of the ballgame and record his first save of the season.
Offensively, Horsham might have had its most productive game of the season with runners in scoring position as it made the most of its seven hits on the day. Heaney led the offense recording the lone multiple-hit performance of the day (2-4 RBI).
Horsham will be back in action tomorrow as it takes on Huntingdon Valley at home in a doubleheader beginning at 2pm.
Horsham Falls Short Against Warminster

Horsham starting pitcher Eric Bahmueller pitched excellent, however a 4-run 2 out rally in the bottom half of the sixth inning was enough for Warminster to beat Horsham Wednesday night at Munro Park.
Bahmueller was the hard luck loser in the contest (5 2/3IP, 2H, 2R, 2ER, 2BB, 6K) as he kept Warminster off-balance throughout the night.
Brett Saverio led Horsham offensively going 2-2 w/ 2 2B and the lone RBI on the night.
Horsham will meet up against the 2008 Lower Montco Champions, Morelanders on Friday night at Masons Mill Park. First pitch is set for 6pm.
Amodei, Clutch Hitting Propel Horsham to Victory

Horsham starting pitcher Dave Amodei turned in another solid outing, while the offense got a clutch a 2-out 2 rbi double in the 5th inning from Eric Bahmueller. Bahmueller came in relief of Amodei to pitch the 7th inning and get Horsham the victory.
The offense also got multiple hit performances from Eric Heaney (2-3 2 2B) and John Pirner (2-3).
Horsham will return to the field Tuesday night at Warminster. First pitch is set for 6pm.
Ft. Washington Takes Advantage of Horsham Miscues

Horsham starting pitcher Matt Hollenbeck tossed six strong innings putting Horsham in position to take over first place in the Lower Montco League.
Unfortunately, The Golden Generals manufactured three of their four runs over the final two frames to extend their lead over Horsham in the LML standings to 1 1/2 games.
Horsham contines to be plagued by its inability to drive in runners in scoring position. In its last two LML losses, Horsham has stranded sixteen runners with two outs.
Horsham will be back in action Friday as it travels to Gravel Hill Park to take on Southamptoon. First pitch is 6pm.
Schoettle's Complete Game Effort Gives Horsham DH split

After dropping the first game of a hot doubleheader, Horsham handed the ball to Matt Schoettle. Schoettle didn't disappoint his teammates turning in a complete game effort. (7IP, 3H, 1R, 0ER, 2BB, 6K)
Offensively, Horsham was led all day by the efforts of Matt Hollenbeck (4-7 2B, SB) and Matt Merenich (3-6 2 RBI).

Horsham pitcher Matt Hollenbeck started his first game of the Lower Montco League season and pitched well on his way to earning his first win of the season.(4IP, 3H, 0R, 3BB, 6K)
Horsham and Huntingdon Valley were scoreless after two innings before Mike Pallas (2-2 BB) started the 3rd inning off with a leadoff single. Horsham tallied 5 runs in the 3rd inning and added eight in the 4th inning.
Offensively, Nick Riccione, Brett Saverio, Nick Vitelli, Matt Merenich and Mike Pallas got into the multiple hits column for Horsham.
Horsham will return to the diamond Thursday facing rival Warminster. First pitch is slated for 6pm.
Sady No-Hits Horsham

Ft. Washington's Brandon Sady pitched a no-hitter on Sunday against Horsham at Upper Dublin HS. Sady went seven innings registering eleven strikeouts and only giving up two free passes on the day.

Horsham got its third straight victory Thursday with a 3-1 win over the 2008 Lower Montco League Champs, Morelanders.
Horsham starter Andrew Blasek lasted 2 1/3 innings before giving way to Matt Schoettle who was dominant on the night. (3 2/3 IP, 3H, OER, OBB, 2K) Matt Hollenback made his first appearence of the season and recorded his first save of the season.
Offensively, Eric Heaney was 2-3 at the plate, while Eric Bahmueller continued to swing the bat well for Horsham. (1-3 RBI, SB)
Horsham is back in action Sunday traveling to Fort Washington. First pitch is 12pm.
Amodei Pitches Horsham to Victory

Dave Amodei pitched six strong innings and Horsham stayed undefeated in Lower Montco League play with their 3-2 victory over Cedarbrook.
Amodei threw all 6 innings, while scattering 5 hits and surrending only one earned run. He moved his record to 1-1 on the year.
Horsham's offense was held in check after the first inning by Cedarbrook. Brett Saverio (1-2 RBI, 2 SB) and Eric Bahmueller (1-2, 2 SB) were the only players to collect hits on the night. Jack Abercrombie reached base in all three plate appearences.

Bats Carry Horsham in Lower Montco League Opener

Horsham continued its early season trend of scoring early. Offensively, H.A.L. pounded out 17 hits over the course of the game and was led by the offensive efforts of Matt Merenich (4-5 2 RBI,2B,3B) and Casey Saverio (3-3 5 RBI,2B).
Horsham starting pitcher Matt Schoettle earned his first victory of the season as he tallied 9 punchouts over 4 2/3 innnings pitched. Matt Merenich worked the final 2 1/3 innings.
Horsham will return to the diamond on Tuesday to take on Cedarbrook in its LML Home Opener. First pitch is 6pm.
Horsham Drops Season Opener

Mt. Carmel's Rocchi executed a squeeze play with one out in the bottom of the 9th to give the Mounties a 6-5 non-league victory.
Horsham didn't make the most of its opportunities offensively as it left 7 runners stranded over the final three frames (12 overall). Offensively, Matt Hollenbeck (2-4 3 RBI, 3B) and Nick Riccione (2-4 RBI, SB) led Horsham.
Horsham will be back in action on Sunday as it takes on Southampton in its Lower Montco League Opener.
2009 Roster Announced
The Horsham American Legion Baseball Team has announced their roster for the upcoming 2009 season.
We will meet next on Sunday, May 10th (Mother's Day) for our 5:30 scheduled practice. Practice will end at approx. 7:15-7:30 PM where I will need all parents there to fill out the necessary paperwork for the upcoming season.
Returning players- I will need $175 for the season from you as well as your social security number
New Players- I will need $175 for the season, your original birth certificate and your social security number
Your original birth certificate is simply checked for date of birth and will be returned to you immediately following the League Meeting prior to the season.
Second Tryout Date/Time Announced
Our second and final tryout will be on Sunday, April 26th at 5:15 PM. It will take place at the Hatboro-Horsham HS Varsity Field. If you weren't at our last tryout and have been receiving our emails, please contact me whether you are coming out for the team this year.
First Tryout Time Announced
Our first tryout will take place at the Hatboro-Horsham HS Varsity Field at 5:15 PM on Saturday, April 18th. If the Varsity Field is unplayable, we will look to move our tryout over to the JV Field.
If you were not in attendance for our first meeting, please get in contact with me through email or my cell so that I can update you on any changes in the schedule as we get closer to our first tryout date.
