Coach's message for the offseason
Our team motto for the 2012 season is "Take the next step". The next step is playing the game. This is what will help you improve individually, and playing together in the offseason will pay enormous dividends for our lacrosse program at NWHS. Preparations for the 2012 season began when the final horn sounded in our last game. I am already excited about the spring 2012 season. We return 87% of our goal scoring power, 79% of our assists, we have competition in goal with one goalie who already has playoff experience, a group of experienced and solid defensemen (3 of whom were starters this season), scores of athletic middies, proven players as the face-off "X" and a group of passionate and supportive parents. You returning varsity players have already taken the most difficult and important step. You were here at the beginning and will be remembered for taking this program from the bottom to the top by the time you graduate. What you have done here has drawn notice from the rest of the county. NWHS boys lacrosse matters now. A number of coaches in the county have already told me that they want to play us next year, because they want to be tested. They know, we will be up for the challenge. I know we will be up for the challenge. But we must put in our offseason work with summer, fall and winter leagues, fall and winter tournaments, trying out for select teams, playing other school sports and a lot of time in the weight room and the track. Don't get left behind. It's time to take the next step.
NWHS LAX GOALS FOR 2012 SEASON
1. Beat our rival. Once we dominate our rival, we will pick another one until we identify what program can measure up to the mighty Jags.
2. Winning season. Simply put, win more than we lose. As soon as we establish ourselves as consistent winners, a winning season will become an expectation.
3. Beat one or more traditional powers. This includes all programs who post consistent winning records. By doing this, we will redefine the county and state lacrosse power structure. 4. Advance in the playoffs. Once we win our first playoff game, there is no limit to what we can accomplish together.
