About The Indians

The Fairfield Indians Summer Collegiate Baseball team has been an integral part of the Fairfield/Suisun and Solano County area since 1978. We are affiliated with the Sacramento Rural baseball league and the American Amateur Baseball Association.

The team offers baseball players between the ages of 18 to 24 from Solano County and the surrounding areas an opportunity to participate in and play at a higher level helping to improve the skills they may already possess.  The team has had some of the best young players from the area from such local high schools as Fairfield, Armijo, Rodriquez, Will C. Wood and Vacaville, as well as, college players from Solano Community College.

Our focus is not only on the young men progressing in baseball but also in developing themselves into good productive individuals. Over the years we have been successful in assisting several young men to get into community colleges, four year colleges and universities to further their education. Three of our members graduated college this spring. Again this year we assisted four more of them in enrolling into college.

The Indians continue to provide a safe environment for those who want to be involved in a positive activity. Our philosophy is, “Baseball is a vehicle for improving their lives by becoming better individuals through hard work and team effort”. Many of our players have gone on to be involved in youth and adult athletic programs in professional and volunteer capacities. Others have chosen professional careers in the helping field, such as Probation officers, Police officers, Social workers, youth leaders and administrators and workers in programs geared toward assisting troubled youths.

Moreover, throughout the years our organization has contributed to the community by helping to provide an arena for individuals who have been involved in the juvenile and adult justice system, to get their lives back on track and headed in a positive direction.

Over the years the organization has sponsored a youth baseball team, volunteered to assist the City of Fairfield in youth activities such as the Football Punt, Kick and Throw contest.  In addition, we have sponsored socio-economically deprived youth in our baseball clinics and given free baseball clinics in the community.

Our Team has been self-sponsored for several years running and maintaining itself through player contributions and any funds we have raised through fund raisers such as car washes, raffles, etc..  However, due to the rising related costs, our ability to provide a quality program for our participants has been severely hampered.

Any assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Norman P. Thompson

Gen. Manager
