PONY & COLT LEAGUE UPDATES
January 16, 2012 —
Congratulations to KBA's own Pete Derkay for winning the 13-14yr old National Title in the Annual Punt, Pass & Kick Competition sponsored by the NFL.
Derkay is a member of the 14U Kennesaw Generals Travel Team led by Coach Tom Kyzer. The road to success began here in Derkay's hometown of Acworth, where he won the Area Title. He then won the Regional Title in Atlanta, which afforded him the opportunity to travel to Baltimore as a representative of the Falcons to compete for the National Title. Pete competed at the Ravens training facility against 13 & 14 yr olds from all over the country and walked away with the National Title. Derkay and the other winners made national television on Sunday, 1/15/11, after the 3rd quarter of the Ravens-Texans game. Again, Congratulations to Pete and the Derkay family for this accomplishment!
REGISTRATION FOR KBA SPRING 2012 PONY & COLT LEAGUES IS OPEN
January 16, 2012 —
Spring Registration remains OPEN for the KBA Pony & Colt Leagues. Registration will remain open until High School & Middle School tryouts are complete. If you are trying out for your high school or middle school team and you plan on having KBA as a back up, please go ahead and register your child and leave the payment pending. This will allow for a more accurate look at numbers and coaching needs.

SKILLS ASSESSMENTS & SANDLOT GAMES
January 16, 2012 —
All currently registered KBA Pony & Colt League players are invited to attend our SANDLOT games beginning the week of January 21st! As there is no formal skills assessment for these upper leagues, these sandlot games serve as a great way for the coaches to get a look at the players in a fun, learning atmosphere. Participation is not mandatory, however it is strongly encouraged. Pony & Colt coaches will head up the sandlot games, dividing all present players into teams. This method allows all players to get in some practice, while showcasing their skills for the coaches. Come join the fun!!
Remember that you must be a player whose registration is current and complete for the KBA Spring 2012 season to participate. If you would like further information or have questions, please feel free to contact Chuck Whaley, KBA Pony/Colt League Director.

BACKGROUND CHECKS FOR 2012
Anyone who steps foot on the field must have a criminal background check. This means that if you plan to be an assistant coach, dugout parent or helping out in any way on the field you are required to complete the background check. This safety measure was requested by the City and is in place solely for the safety of the children in our park. The forms can be found on the KBA website under "Handouts" or by clicking the following link Coaches Application and Background Check Forms
Please note that you ONLY need to submit a background check form if your current card is expired or you are a new KBA volunteer. Please follow guidelines below:
· These cards are good for one year.
· Type information or print clearly (Form must have a handwritten signature)
· Complete all information on the form:
o Complete date of birth
o Complete social security number
o Middle name if applicable
· Form must be emailed (kimferguson@kennesawbaseball.com) or faxed (404-891-1916) –
DO NOT take the form to the police station Once the process is completed by the Kennesaw Police Department you will be issued an identification card. A broadcast email will be sent out with pickup time. This card must be worn any time you are on the field.
KEEP OUR PARK CLEAN
Please help keep our park clean by throwing away any trash in the dugouts or surrounding areas around the park.
