Congratulations to 10U Team
Keystone Nationals 10u wins “Bring on the Heat” tournament in Allentown.
This past weekend in Hellertown, Pa. a suburb of Allentown, the Keystone National 10U team finished the weekend in dramatic fashion, winning their first Championship on the travel circuit. In pool play, the Nats went 1-1 putting them as the #3 seed heading into Sundays elimination round which included 10 teams.
Saturday’s first game was a breeze with a final score of 13-2 over Hamilton Park. The second game was much more competitive. The Nats were stinging the ball offensively, but, because of solid defense, they could only muster 4 runs, losing 5-4 to the Lionville Hillcats.
On Sunday the Nationals had their work cut out for them, knowing they needed to win three games to win the Championship. The Nats breezed through its’ first two games mercy ruling both opponents, one of which was the #2 seed, Del-Val.
The Championship game was against the Hillcats, the only loss by the Nats in four games. It was a nailbiter, however, at the end, Kyle McKeon hit a two out walk-off double that brought home Justin Bordner to give the team their first Championship, a 7-6 victory. In the Championship game the Nats were also led by the dynamic pitching of Evan Keefer.
Throughout the weekend the Nats hit the ball well, as McKeon, Brady Grimes, Josh McCombs, and JT Cap led the charge. As for pitching and defense, Keefer, Henry Newton, and newcomer Nate Whisler all had shining moments. Next for the Nats 10U is a tournament in Chambersburg 8/9-8/10.
