REVIEW OF MANAGERS MEETING FOR 2009 SEASON JAN 6, 09

    MEMO
    Date: 2/1/09
To: Long Island Stan Musial Managers
    From: Jimmy Rose
Re: Review of Managers Meeting Tuesday, January 6, 2009 8:00 p.m.

Review of Meeting for 2009 Season

Thanks to all those who attended our 1st meeting of the 2009 season. Sorry I took so long getting this out. Many key points were discussed and some new ideas that we will try to implement. Your input and exchanges are valuable to improving our league year to year.
Please be advised that deposits will be due at the next meeting which is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday March 10th.

After introducing champions from 2008 and tournament participation some important issues discussed are as follows:

    1. Division Alignment:
    D1 Wood
    D2 Wood
    D1 Metal
If D2 Metal has about the same amount of teams or more we will split into 2 separate divisions: D2 Metal and D2A Metal. This will create more parity in that division.

    Division Representatives are:
    D1 Wood Harvey Sperling 631 294-2284
    D2 Wood Eddie Armato 516 728-5145
    D1 Metal Dave Critelli 516 445-4403
    D2 Metal Bob DePersio 631 836-5667

    2. In an effort to keeping costs down the league fees will offer a discount for teams with home fields but will not include additional $300.00 for for Allstar and Championship games to be played at CitiBank Park. League fees will be:

    Teams with home fields $1,350.00 + $300.00* Total: $1,650.00
    Teams without home fields $1,600.00 + $300.00* Total: $1,900.00
*The additional $300 used for All Star and Championship games at Citibank Park will be decided on when we know the dates that are available.

    3. Frankie Z from ECUA discussed some umpire problems. Fees will remain the same at $75.00 per game which is reasonable. Umpire dispatcher will still be Paul Devito. His number is 631 772-4645

    4. Start of schedule will be May 17th unless otherwise requested and will end on July 26th with playoffs starting July 29th

    5. We will continue to use league lineup. Stats must be entered and a minimum number of at bats and innings pitched will be enforced.

    6. Teams must use official Long Island Stan Musial Baseballs. They will be available at the March meeting at $52.00. Please submit baseball orders to me as soon as possible.

    Sincerely,
    Jimmy Rose

ALLSTAR GAMES AT CITIBANK PARK WEDNESDAY JULY 23
IN SPITE OF THE WEATHER THE ALL STAR GAME WAS A GREAT NIGHT OF BASEBALL FOR ALL THOSE WHO PARTICIPATED. I WOULD LIKE TO THANK THE MANAGERS, NICK CANOBIO, BILLY GIANCASPRO, MARTY SIRY AND HARVEY SPERLING FOR DOING A GREAT JOB RUNNING THEIR TEAMS. ALSO THANKS TO THE COACHES, DAVE CRITELLI, BOB DEPERSIO, FRANK GIGLIO AND TOMMY SMITH FOR ALL THEIR HELP. THERE WERE MANY OTHERS WHO HELPED OUT ALSO, THANK YOU ALL.
    THE PLAYOFFS ARE NEXT!
    JIMMY ROSE

THE FOLLOWING TEAMS HAVE NOT ENTERED ROSTERS OR HAVE ENTERED LITTLE OR NO STATS TO THE LEAGUE WEBSITE AS OF JULY 6TH. FINAL DEADLINE WAS JULY 2ND.
IF ROSTERS/UP-TO-DATE STATS ARE NOT ENTERED BY 7/15/08, THESE TEAMS WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE 2008 PLAYOFFS. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOOD BAT DIVISION 1 -- LI COBRAS, LI STORM
WOOD BAT DIVISION 2 -- SMITHTOWN ROYALS, LONG BEACH GIANTS
METAL BAT DIVISION 1 -- NORTHPORT TIGERS
METAL BAT DIVISION 2 -- COPIAGUE MARINERS, HUNTINGTON TR-VILLAGE REDS,
LEVITTOWN PIRATES, LINDENHURST NATIONALS, HICKSVILLE LIZARDS, EAST NORTPORT TIGERS, NORTH BABYLON BULLDOGS

All teams must play a minimum of 20 games to be eligible for the playoffs. Any team not meeting the minimum league requirement will be assigned losses up to the minimum number -- 20.

NO GAMES ARE TO BE "EXCLUDED" FROM THE OVERALL STANDINGS
To all league managers - If you are scheduled to play a game, whether added at any time during the season or orignially scheduled, the games that are played during the season all count toward the overall standings. DO NOT exclude games from the standings when entering results on the league website. Thank you.

There have been teams complaing that the oppossing team is not using league baseballs. To make matters worse, they are using baseballs that aren't good enough for little league. If you are playing a team that does not have Long Island Stan Musial stamped on them please tell the manager of the opposing team that you are going to protest the game and the league will award a forfeit.

    Rain Procedure
Although the rainout policy was thoroughly discussed at the January and March meetings, I would like to again review the proper procedure for rained-out games.
The home team manager has the responsibility of making the decision and informing both the opposing team manager and the umpires that the game is “rained-out”. This decision is to be made at least 90 minutes prior to game start time to give sufficient notice to players and umpires. If you decide to go ahead with a game, the umpires’ fees are to be paid regardless of how much play takes place (even ½ an inning’s worth!). There is no credit for future games. If the umpires arrive at the field and both managers agree the field is unplayable, each team must pay a $30.00 travel fee.
The Umpire Dispatcher is Paul DeVito and the phone number is 631 772-4645.

Also note that the fee for umpires is $75.00 per umpire.
If you have any questions regarding this procedure, please contact us.

Please remember fields are very difficult to obtain permits for and destroying a field is an easy way to lose a permit. It you do not know how to rake a field and maintain it properly just call your game. There is absolutely NO SMOKING in dugouts or on the field at any time. ANY team that does not clean the dugouts or does any type of stupid maitenence that might cause the league to lose a permit will be immediatly thrown out of the league with no refund. I cannot tell you how important this is and i will not tolerate any BS when it come to fields. Without fields, we cannot play baseball. Please do not force me to terminate your season. I'm sorry if this message seems strong but it is a must to maintain our league.
