JV Moves to 12-2-1 with Wins over Lemont and HF

May 17, 2012
Lockport Lacrosse JV team moved to 12-2-1 with big wins over Lemont and Homewood Flossmoor. Lemont struck quickly, grabbing a 4-1 first quarter lead. But Mike Hernandez made big saves the rest of the way and goals by Johnny Danko and Nick Beci turned the tide in Lockport's favor.

At Homewood Flossmoor, Jared Harris put on a show with four goals allowing Lockport to hold the lead against HF. Check us out at Minooks this Friday!

Fr/So Heats up with two wins in last three

May 17, 2012
The Fr/So team evened their record at 6-6-1 with two big wins in the last three games. The offense kicked in with a 10-4 win over Marian Catholic. Defense has been solid all year, but St laurence was able to gain the upperhand in an 11-3 contest under dark clouds in Burbank. However, the Lockport Fr/So team quickly bounced back with a big 11-1 victory over Homewood Flossmoor back at home. Joe Rataj got on the board as well as big strikes form Nate Ashley, Dan Lennox, Alex Venezio, and Dan Reidel.

Marmion

May 5, 2012
Lockport Lacrosse JV team captured the title at the Marmion Cadet Shootout in Aurora. Big wins over Geneva, West Chicago, and a draw against Marist led to the title match against Naperville Central.

In a tight game, goals by Kevin Wenzel, Johnny Danko and Andrew Dempsey brought the Championship to overtime. Luke Willson found the back of then net, after great ball movement from Mike Curtis, TJ Willson and Andrew Dempsey hemmed in the Naperville defense. A walk off for Willson!!!

JV Marches on to 6-1 Start

April 30, 2012
The Lockport JV LAX responded to a tough game against Whitney Young with a huge effort against a combined Downers Grove North and South, with a 14-1 win. Once again Mike Hernandez proved tough to beat in the nets, as Lockport grabbed a quick 9-0 lead. D-Poles got a chance to play up front and Dave Smietanski notched his first goal. This Week -- 7-2 LINCOLN WAY!

Lockport takes on all of District 230 Schools

April 20, 2012
Lockport Lacrosse took on all of District 230 Schools (Sandburg/Andrew/Stagg) on the turf and under the lights.
The Fr/So team had another great fourth quarter and came within inches of tying the game late, falling 4-3. The record moves to 2-2-1. but we have outscored our opponents by a wide margin and look to put a winnig streak together.

The JV moved to 5-0 as Dave Smietanski wondered if we might be the greatest LAX team in US history. Grabbing another big early lead, Lockport cruised to a 12-4 victory. Phil Lullo and Johnny Danko controlled the draws and gave us a big time of possession advantage.

Come see the Fr/So play this weekend at Lincoln Way at 10:30 on Saturday morning!!!

Huge Day for Lockport LAX

April 16, 2012
Lockport LAX headed to Geneva to face a tough Western Suburban team. Our Fr/So struggled early, getting down 4-1 to a much bigger and older JV squad. But, they turned the tables in the second half and took down Geneva 5-4 with four unanswered scores. Brian Baer (2) and Jack Houlihan had big goals late to rally Lockport to a great win.

The Lockport LAX JV kept rolling, moving to 4-0 with an 8-3 win over Geneva. After jumping out to a 7-0 lead in the first half, Lockport cruised to the win. Mike Hernandez pitched a shutout in the first half. Johnny Danko had a Sportscenter Top Ten goal, and Kevin Wenzel found Jared Harris, who scored three on his birthday, for a great one handed tally.

Our fundraiser Saturday night was a success, with the helping hands of many of our parents. Thank you so much to all who contributed to its success. We go back on the road this Thursday to face District 230 at Andrew HS. GO LOCKPORT LAX !!!

Strong Showing vs Minooka

April 12, 2012
The Fr/So team took a 4-2 lead against Minooka before settling for a 4-4 tie. Again late penalties were hard to overcome as Minooka scored up two men in the fourth quarter. The defense was again solid and the offense, led by Austin Haslingers breakaway, and a sweet goal by Dan Lennox gave the team a two goal lead. Fr/So looks to get in the win column Friday at Homewood Flossmoor.

The JV team kept rolling with a 7-3 win. Mike Hernandez was very strong in the net and Johnny Danko gave Lockport a big advantage in time of possession with his wins from the faceoff circle. Luke Willson once again nailed the first goal, as JV has now outscored their opponents 30-7. The defense, anchored by Dave Smietanski, Glenn Schoenbeck, Mike O'Shea, Jack Nance, Eric Dietz, and Ben Andrews challenged plays all the way to the midfield stripe and really gave Minooka very few quality chances.

We go on the road for the next few days with contest at HF and Geneva. See you this weekend at our BIG EVENT at Cross of Glory (163rd and Cedar). Come play Texas Hold Em, Bean Bags, and LRC for a great cause. Call Chuck at 708-609-0424 with any questions. GO LOCKPORT LAX

Great Showing for Both Team vs Lemont

April 5, 2012
The Fr/So lacrosse team took on Lemont, and had a few opening night jitters. After grabbing a 3-0 lead, the team surrendered a few goals and slowed the number of shots we put on net. Same as last year's opener for the current JV. After that game we went 12-2 in our next fourteen, so no reason for concern. It is obvious the current Fr/So team has a ton of talent. Once they gain confidence in teammates and share the ball, they will be awesome.

The JV pounced on Lemont from the opening whistle and took an 8-0 early lead before ending up on top of a 15-2 score. The JV has outscored their opponents 30-7 so far. Eric Dietz's diving effort to keep a ball in play with an 8-1 lead was a highlight. That type of play lead to many shots for our attacks and middies. GO LOCKPORT LAX !!!!
April 2, 2012
Lockport Lacrosse Club cannot possibly thank properly the people involved in the shed raising. With Paul and Mike O'Shea putting over 13 hours of their Saturday in to the construction it looks amazing. The same can be said for the Schoenbecks, Jeff and Ben Andrews, Kevin Bruin, along with the tan Mark and Nick Beci. Steve Hlavac was awesome in digging our holes and using his connections to get the ball rolling. Dave and Nate Ashley donated their time effort and materials for the roof. And concrete work was knocked out by Ryan O'Connor, Ryan Wenzel, and Kevin Wenzel. Next time Janice yells at me I may move a big screen into that shed and stay!!!!

HOME GAMES FOR BOTH TEAM WEDNESDAY 4/4

April 1, 2012
Dan Reidel Shows His Speed and Splits the Lemont Defense.
Our Fans are the Best!!! Let's get them out to the field for our home doubleheader against Lemont. It is the Opener for the Fr/So team. GO LOCKPORT LAX !!!!

Big Beginning to 2012 Season For JV With 15-5 Win

March 22, 2012
The JV team threw fifteen goals on the board against a skilled Homewood Flossmoor team. Mike Hernandez was stellar in the net turning away many quality chances. Newcomers Joe Pennington, Glenn Schoenbeck, Phil Lullo, and Jake Gomolka were key in getting Lockport so many shots on net. Johnny Danko along with the Wilson Brothers and Jared Harris led the wave of scoring. Too many penalties put the club in a bad light near the final horn. But we will clean that up by game two. GO LOCKPORT LAX !!!!

HOME OPENER !!!!! Thursday vs Homewood Flossmoor

March 20, 2012
Come see the JV team face off against Homewood Flossmoor at 5pm this Thursday as we kick start the 2012 season !!!!!!

Huge Week -- We start 2012 Season !!!!

February 21, 2012
Potential players for 2012 who are new to the club should meet on Monday 2/27 in Mr Dubiel's room after school. We will have a meeting for all new players. ALL 2012 CLUB MEMBERS WILL NEED TO ATTEND A TEAM MEETING WEDNESDAY 2/29 IN THE CWC ROOM ACROSSE FROM THE POOL JUST AFTER SCHOOL. Our first outdoor practice is Thursday 3/1. Don't forget--We are raffling a 73" Mitsubishi, and a 42" Sharp Aquos HDTV television in the weeks ahead. After our tremendous 2011 campaign (13-6 overall), we look for a great turnout on 2/2/12

Thanks for a great season

Thanks again to all the players, parents, and John Evans for the commitment to a new program and helping to make it a success.

Thanks to Coach Gaba for all his hard work, enthusiasm, willingness to learn a completely new sport, and the being the leadership that our team needed!!!

And a GIAGANTIC Thanks to Chuck Wenzel for the hundreds of hours that he spent making all this happen; meeting with lawyers, potential coaches, procuring uniforms, buses to away games, scheduling games, renting referees, getting field space, agonizing over making playing time fair for each player, running the raffle, and doing all this for FREE, for the sheer pleasure of our kids being able to enjoy playing lacrosse for Lockport High School. THANK YOU CHUCK WENZEL!!!!

Great Week for Lockport LAX

May 5, 2011
After a tough game, in a driving rain, versus Marian Catholic's JV team Lockport Lacrosse went on a tear. Winning four out of five and making the Championship game at the Minooka Tournament was an amazing day. Lockport followed that up with a gutty performance against a surprisingly good team playing its first game. They ended the week topping Minooka on the road by a score of 11-3. In that game, D-Poles played Middie and Attack, while the Attackers guarded Steven in the net. We are now 11-3 with a big home game versus Homewood Flossmoor set for Monday 5/9. See what the excitement is all about. Only two home games left. Come join the crowd!!!!!!

Happy Easter -----We're 5-1 with 11-5 Win over Crown Point

April 23, 2011
Lockport Lacrosse battled a very physical Crown Point team, and ankle deep mud to come out on top 11-5. Mike Curtis got the ball rolling with the first two goals. Our passing and team speed took over from there. Have a great Holiday, and you should as we are 5 and 1 !!!!!!!!

Make it 4-1. Lockport Wins 13-2 Over Minooka

April 21, 2011
Lockport plays its most complete game to date. Great Shots, Great Defense and Great Effort add up to convincing win.

HEY---WE'RE 3-1

April 18, 2011
Lockport Lacrosse showed off its defense again in a 5-2 win over Lincoln Way. Playing under the lights at LW Central, the Lockport squad allowed very few shots in holding Lincoln Way to two goals. We have allowed only ten goals in four games!

Led by Johnny Danko's two scores, Lockport played a great second half, and added goals by Mike Curtis, Andrew Dempsey, and Mark Baker. We're 3-1 heading into a big game against Minooka on Thursday.

Another Big Win--Lockport over Homewood Flossmoor 12-4

April 11, 2011
The Lockport Lacrosse Club grabbed another big win by downing the Homewood Flossmoor squad 12-4. Johnny Danko had five quick goals and Ryan Nakutis added three. Both Vince and Eric Dietz joined Frankie Kamely and Andrew Dempsey to finish off the scoring. The defense only allowed one even strength goal and Steven Hlavac was again solid in the net. Lockport has 15 games in 31 days starting next Monday. Come on out and see the fastest game on land!!!! Below check out Patti Weber and the Mueller family. They were the winners on a 65in Mitsubishi 3D ready HDTV, and a 47in Vizio HDTV. Congratulations, and thanks for supporting Lockport LAX!!

Lockport Gets First Win in Big Way

April 6, 2011
Lockport Lacrosse Club got its first ever win over a tough Lemont Squad 7-3. Jack Evans owned the middle as he scored three times from out front. Once again the defense, with new addition Ben Andrews, and the goaltending of Steven Hlavac was spectacular. Lockport held Lemont to two goals until the final minute. Passing was the key as Lockport pressured the ball and caused numerous turnovers, while making some very impressive rushes up the field with crisp stick to stick passing. Lockport moved the ball into such good positions, they only missed two of their first six shots. Big match on Monday at Homewood Flossmoor. GO LOCKPORT LAX!!!!

Baker's Rocket Eludes District 230 - Past Left Shoe

April 4, 2011
Mark Baker fires one past the D-230 goalie. He along with Johnny Danko scored in the first ever game for LOCKPORT LAX. Congratulations.

First Game Ever--A Smash Hit

Starting with Dave Smietanski's big first quarter hit, the Inaugural Season for Lockport Lacrosse got under way. Lockport jumped to a 3-1 lead ,however, District 230 (Sandburg/Andrew/Stagg) battled back to force overtime. With D-230 having played four games before our opener, and a few of their young guys having played a few additional varsity games, our LOCKPORT LAX team played fantastically. A pass from Kevin Wenzel to Johnny Danko with under thirty seconds to play nearly saw #68 score his second. But, a great save by goalie Eric Wenzel saved the game for D-230. Mark Baker hit the post late in the fourth quarter and Andrew Dempsey nailed the iron earlier in the game or the outcome would have been different. Steven Hlavac's key saves in the first OT prolonged the contest. In the second OT, District 230 was able to flip one in and win. However, no one went home unhappy as LOCKPORT LAX really impressed in game 1. Great efforts were turned in by all, but the Dietz brothers really covered the field and our defense was stellar with Mike O'Shea, Jack Nance, Chris Carter, and Mike Hernandez joining Eric Dietz and Dave Smietanski. Four goals against in two overtimes, and starting the second half a man down for three minutes, is stingy defense for sure. We get LEMONT on Wednesday. GO LOCKPORT LAX !!!!!!

Vince Dietz Finds Kevin Wenzel For A Rush in Game #1

Special Thanks to the Homer Stallions' Tony Drabik and Ron Jonites for striping the field. With insights from Ray Dombrowski, the field should be perfectly squared.

Really love the effort our squad is putting forward. We may have some growing pains during the season, but we will never lack effort with this group.

We have posted a the schedule in a few places throughout both buildings. We are looking for sponsors for the club and for giveaways for "Fan of the Game" during the season. GO LOCKPORT LAX!!!

Great First Week
