LSG/Lufthansa Team Vice German Champions 2010
October 11, 2010 —
The LSG/Lufthansa Team travelled to Saarlouis last weekend to participate in the German Championship for the first time. Although we played well and were 6-0 after the semi-finals - our bid to take it all was ironically foiled by hitting "too" well against the Mohawks. Due to the five home-run limit (every home-run after five were counted as singles), we had already used that contingency by the fourth inning, only collecting six runs from them. Even though we actually hit better in the final than in our preliminary bout with the Mohawks, the latter managed to time their long shots better, and decided the game on Todd´s three-run banger in the sixth inning. The close score of 16-14 in the final proved how evenly both teams are matched, and this time the Mohawks got the better of us by playing brilliant defence to deservingly take the title. Our congratulations to the Mohawks and our sincere thanks to the Saarlouis Hornets for their efforts and cooperation with all teams in the scheduling of the tournament and for the excellent catering provided!
