LYWC Annual Meeting
February 14, 2013 – 06:15 PM
Leominster Youth Wrestling Club needs to hold its annual meeting. The annual meeting is required by law, and due to its value to wrestling in the area, we need to keep the nonprofit in tack in some form whether we stay with Fitchburg for the short or long term. The LYWC annual meeting will be Thursday, Feb 14th during practice at Monty Tech small gym (abt 6:15 pm to abt 7:30 pm). We'll take over a set of bleachers or maybe find a quieter place if possible. Voting members include all parents who paid fees to LYWC last year and those who paid fees to the Fitchburg club this year and are also Leominster residents. However, the meeting is open to the public and anyone can attend to add to any discussion.
LYWC is merging with the Fitchburg Youth Wrestling Program for the season!
November 8, 2012
All of you are probably wondering what is happening with the season this year since registration has yet to open. Registration has not opened simply because, until last night, the board didn't know where we will be. This has now been resolved – at least for this season (please read below).
WHAT HAPPENED: After two seasons with them, the Boys and Girls Club notified us on October 1st that they didn't have room to store our mats in their new facilities. Since we were working to open registration for the season on October 1st, this news sent us into a big scramble. We have been trying to find space and time in one of the city gyms, but due to the late notice, we have been unable to do so. Therefore, we have decided to merge in with the Fitchburg Youth Wrestling club this year and use the time we would normally spend running the club during the season to explore a number of different alternatives and work obtain more permanent space for the 2013-2014 season and beyond.
WHAT TO DO: In order to wrestle this year, you will need to register with one of the nearby clubs...
DETAILS FOR REGISTERING WITH FITCHBURG: In order to register with the Fitchburg Club, please go to http://www.fitchburgwrestling.com and download and fill out the registration forms, which you should find in the right hand column on that web site. Since Fitchburg has already had its registration nights, you'll need to bring the completed forms and payment to the first practice, which will be Monday, November 26th from 6pm to 7:30pm at Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical High School (Monty Tech) small gym. I've already talked to Ruddy Paulino and he knows everyone will be coming. The Monty Tech facilities should have plenty of room to handle the increased numbers. Not only that, the increased numbers should make obtaining good wrestling partners easier and make the whole group more competitive during dual meets and other team events.
DETAILS FOR REGISTERING WITH LITTLETON: The next nearest youth wrestling club (that we can determine) is the Littleton Wrestling club. Some of you may find it easier to commute there instead of Monty Tech or find the practice schedule more to your liking. You can register with them online. Just go to their website at: http://littletonwrestling.org/ and click the “Registration Step 1” tab at the top. All the information can be found on their website. James Kennedy, the Littleton coach, has been notified and welcomes any Leominster folks to register at any time.
In addition, James Kennedy has asked us to let you all know that they are opening a new sporting goods and consignment store at 459 King Street in Littleton Massachusetts. He wants to invite everyone to a pre-opening Friends & Family Consignment Event. It would be an opportunity to turn any of your used sporting goods and equipment into cash, and at the same time help a new local business. The event is this Saturday, November 10th, between 10 am to 1pm. Some families encourage their kids to earn their own money by consigning sports equipment they have outgrown or no longer need. The store is planning to open in two weeks, and will be selling both new and used equipment and apparel. Stop by if you can! The link to their Facebook page is mytownsports
QUESTIONS: If you have any questions about all of this, please email them to firstname.lastname@example.org or call coach Larson.
Thanks for your patience through all this and let's make the season a good one...
