Lange leads Warriors in season finale comeback over Matawan
Junior LF Steve Lange's bases loaded (and clearing) double highlighted a 6 run 5th inning as the Warriors defeated Matawan 9-8 in their season finale. Lange also had a 2 run double in a 3 run 1st inning for the Big Blue.
The Warriors pounded out 13 hits as a team on the day.
Junior LHP Billy Acciavatti picked up his first Varsity win by throwing a scoreless 4th and 5th innings. Senior closer Korey McCormack picked up his team leading 4th save of the season shutting down the Huskies in the 7th.
The Warriors on the day were led by:
Nick Lustrino - 2-3, 2 runs, 2 2B
Lange - 2-4, 2 runs, 2 2B, 5 RBIs
Jim Walsh - 2-3, run, 2 RBIs
Josh Aromando - 3-3, run, 2B
Kyle Harrison - 1-3, 2 runs
Also, the Warriors would like to congratulate Sr. SS Nick Lustrino for being selected to the 2011 Carpenter Cup team.
Warriors defeat Red Bank 4-3
The Warriors defeated host Red Bank Regional 4-3 on Wednesday May 25th.
6'7" Soph. RHP Jim Walsh (3-3) would pick up the win on the mound for the Warriors going 6 and 2/3 innings. Sr. Korey McCormack would get the final out for his 3rd save of the season.
Walsh would also lead the Big Blue offensively as he was 2-3 with 3 RBIs including what would be the game-winning RBI in the 5th inning.
Also on the day for the Warriors:
Kyle Harrison - 1-4, 2B, run scored
Nick Lustrino - 2-4, run
Steve Lange - 1-3, 2B, run, RBI
Walsh leads Warriors over Wall
Soph. RHP pitcher Jim Walsh (2-1) hurled a complete game, 5-hitter shutout as Manasquan def  eated Wall 3-0 on Wed. May 5th.
In the 90 pitch performance by the 6'7" Walsh, he would walk one and strike out four.
The Warriors would strike early in the bottom of the 1st giving Walsh all the run support he would need on the day. After Nick Lustrino reached on a fielder's choice and a Tyler Saito walk, Sr. 2B Bryan Palsi would clear the bases with a double to right scoring Lustrino and Saito.
In the bottom of the 3rd inning, Lustrino would lead off with a walk followed by a Saito single to left. Lustrino would advance on a Palsi fielder's choice. Jr. LF Steve Lange would then plate Lustrino with a sacrifice fly to right to make the score 3-0.
Jr. 3B Andrew Stewart was 1-2 with a single but made the play of the day in the bottom of the 7th with starting a game-ending 5-4-3 double play to preserve the win for the Warriors.

Former Warrior A.J. Miller named Patriot League Player of the Year

EASTON, Pa. - After batting .418 with six home runs and 21 RBI in Patriot League play, Lafayette senior catcher A.J. Miller has been named the 2011 Patriot League Baseball Player of the Year. Miller, just the third Leopard and fourth catcher to garner the honor.
In the 20-game Patriot League season, Miller led all players with a .512 on-base percentage and .761 slugging percentage. He ranked second in batting average (.418), third in hits (28), RBI (21), home runs (six) and total bases (51), fourth in walks (14) and seventh in runs scored (17).
Miller, a native of Manasquan, N.J., has been recognized as one of the top catchers in the nation, landing on the 2011 Johnny Bench Award Watch List. In 46 games played in 2011, he is batting .397 with 12 home runs, 14 doubles and 52 RBI. Miller currently shares the single-season (12) and career (22) record for home runs at Lafayette with Bob Osipower '00.

Our History
Manasquan High School baseball has a long and proud tradition as one of the top programs in the Shore Conference. In 1969, the Warriors under the direction of MHS Athletic Hall of Fame member Jack Hawkins won the CJ Group 2 state championship. The program won the Group II overall state championship in 1986 with fellow MHS Athletic Hall Fame member Jake Landfried at the helm for the Big Blue. The Warriors have won several Division championships over the years and have finished the season ranked in the Top 10 in the Shore Conference on numerous occasions. A number of former players have gone on to successful collegiate careers as well as played professional baseball.
It is our goal to succeed as a program as well as prepare our players for their future on and off the field. We emphasize hard work, dedication, and a commitment to achievement.
