Stars Win First Playdown Game
The Markham-Stouffville Stars kicked off their first of four Provincial Playdown games last night in Vaughan.The Flames started the scoring early going up 1-0 in the first period. Markham would respond with two unanswered goals from Liz Lennon and a powerplay marker by Rachelle Nasello. The score would remain 2-1 for the rest of the game as Markham is now 1-0 during the 2011-2012 Provincial Playdowns.
Goalie Jessica Barwell stoped 18 of 19 shots to earn the win.
Game two of the Playdowns will take place on Tuesday February 14th at Angus Glen Arena in Markham against the Vaughan Flames.
Stars Lead Series 1-0!
The Markham-Stouffville Stars headed to Oshawa Ontario last night to play game 1 of the best of 3 series against the Oshawa Lady Generals. The Stars out played the Generals for most of the game and walked away with a tough 2-0 win on the road to lead the series 1-0. Liz Lennon scored both goals for the Stars as goalie Krista Jensen earned the well deserved shutout.
Game two will take place on February 18th at Angus Glen arena in Markham,Ontario.
