WORLD CHAMPIONS!!!
July 24, 2005 - WOW! What else can you say about this baseball team? The Dawgs dominated the 2005 AABC Roberto Clemente World Series and claimed the title on Sunday. It was an incredible end to what has been an incredible journey for the Dawgs.
Boys, we could not be more proud of you for your efforts and the way that you conducted yourselves throughout this season. You are all incredible athletes and proved yourselves as great champions. Your sportsmanship and determination sets you apart. You have made your city, your state and your country very proud.
Thank you to all of the great teams that participated in the 2005 AABC Roberto Clemente World Series - Sun Valley, CA Park Bums, Puerto Rico, Clarkston, NJ Stars, Wallen, IN, Oklahoma Wolverines, Rock Chapel Braves, and Gresham Park White Sox. You all have great teams and we greatly appreciate your sportsmanship throughout the World Series.
Thanks also to the city of McDonough, Mayor Craig and his staff for their support of our team. This entire tournament was nothing short of first class. Special thanks to Dwane Williams, Doug Smith and the McDonough Youth Association. You guys run the best youth baseball program in the country. We are proud to have brought the title home to such a deserving park!
WORLD SERIES ACTION BEGINS
July 20, 2005 - The opening ceremonies began tonight with the Dawgs making a grand entrance into McDonough's square with the help of the McDonough Fire Department. The Dawgs arrived in style atop one of McDonough's fire trucks. The kids thoroughly enjoyed all of the evening's festivities, including bowling at Fun Bowl.
Thanks to MYA and Mayor Craig for putting on such a first class event for all of these boys. This is the way that a World Series should be ran.
July 21, 2005 - In the skills competition, the Dawgs took two of three events. In the Around The Horn Drill, the Dawgs took first place with a time of 19 seconds. Austin, Carter, Dalton, Daino, Connor, Nile, Mason, Mitchell and Joshua were near flawless in the drill.
In the Home Run Derby, Nile claimed the hardware, as he outslugged his own teammate Carter, who took second place. Both boys hit bombs and should be very proud of their performance.
Congratulations to the Sun Valley, CA Park Bums for claiming first place in the Golden Arm Competition.
