    2009 Playoff Schedule Div A & B

The Schedules have been revised after this past weekends games. Not all of them have been updated since several teams haven't sent their scores in. The games highlighted in yellow are ones that need to be sent in to the normal mailbox as they were during the season. The orange highlighted games are ones I can not update until the scores have been received.

They are located under the Handouts section so please review for your time and opponent for this weekends game. Good luck to ALL teams. Thanks

Parks receive defibrillators for increased safety

Vince Farah, McDonough Youth Association (MYA) Assistant Director of Softball, continues working on projects that protect our children and others while playing or attending games at local ball fields. “After acquiring a lightning detector for Alexander park last year, it was time to go a step further,” said Farah. “What if someone had a heart attack while at a city park? Precious minutes could be saved if an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) was available.”

Farah learned that an individual at Richard Craig Park tennis courts had been saved by using just such a device. The first person he spoke with about his AED idea and the acquisition of the device was McDonough Fire Chief Don Crowell. Chief Crowell stated that he would like to see an AED located at McDonough’s three main ball fields. Avalon Park, Richard Craig Park and Alexander Park.

Farah subsequently approached McDonough Mayor Billy Copeland and requested that the city go halves with MYA in purchasing the three AED devices for the fields. Mayor Copeland and the City Council also supported the project, and the Council approved funding for half the cost. MYA sports split the remaining half, and the vision came into focus. “It’s a small price to pay for someone’s life,” commented Farah.

The devices will be housed at each of the three parks by March 22 and ready to use should they be needed. Prior to that date, every MYA Board member, all coaches and individuals on staff will be required to go through training on the proper use of an AED. “We’ll be ready by opening day,” said Farah.
