Dear Team Members,
We have made great steps toward where we want to be this year, but there is still a long way to go. As your coach, my expectations are high and every member of the team will held to the same standard.
Our team goals can be accomplished with your individual commitment to excellence in all areas: Training, Life Management, and Personal Goal setting. You will need to demonstrate consistency in several areas of your life.
1. Life Management: Getting the proper sleep, rest, nutrition, hydration on a consistent basis and managing life’s stresses. 2. Consistent Training habits: Train daily as instructed. Let your training come to you, be patient, don’t rush. Put in a consistent steady effort and you will see results.
3. Personal Goal Setting: Prepare your mind, body and spirit for a great year of training and competing, setting personal and team goals.
Ideal Mercury student –athletes have all of the following characteristics:
• Desire to excel academically and athletically.
• Consistency in all facets of their lives. Decisions are made with the betterment of the program in mind. This includes the social, academic, athletics, and spiritual aspects of the student-athlete experience.
• Realization that they are a constant representative of their team, the coach, their families, the Mercury Track Club and Community.
Be Prepared for the Team
• No Alcohol!!! Drugs and alcohol have no place with committed track and field athlete. Alcohol reduces your MVO2 or threshold by 6%. It develops an attitude of selfishness and self pleasure rather than a team atmosphere.
• Have the attitude of professional student athletes. Take care of business: team and personal, be professional at all times.
• Be willing to work hard and sacrifice!
Athletic Goals: • Finish in the top three in the District Meet every year. • Qualify for the State Meet • Qualify for the National Championship Meet
Academic Goals: • Individual GPA higher than 3.0 every semester
Professional Development Goals: • One major community service project per school year. • Student-athlete involvement in campus and community organization and/ or events
Affective Goals: • Develop an appreciation for Track and Field • Maintain a life long relationship between coaches and athletes • Provide daily leadership opportunities

Mercury Track Club is in its seventh year so we are looking for Athletes that want to excel in every aspect of the game. The fundamentals of exercise are endurance, strength, and speed. Endurance is the first element that makes the athletes stands out among their peer groups. The athlete who's in the best conditioning will always win the game.

Team Mercury
• Self Management • Personal Accountability • Self Confidence • Leading Others I
The purpose of the Mercury Track Club is to promote a healthy vehicle for
training the youth of our community in the sport of Track & Field The most
important part of our program is the growth and enrichment of our athletes
We want our kids most of all to have fun and the opportunity to compete at
his or her best We teach all basic and advanced skills necessary for all
Track and Field events while stressing the importance of dedication and
commitment Anything worthwhile demands their time and devotion Not
only will our athletes walk away with confidence, but with knowleIdge and
great memories While we’ll be having a lot of fun, we’re also going
to get this group of young athletes in the best physical shape of their lives
This requires a great deal of conditioning and specific training. During the first
few weeks, practices will seem pretty tough There will be sore muscles
and it may take some extra dedication and encouragement to keep them
from getting discouraged by the hard work at first But the sense of
accomplishment, growth and self-confidence that comes from working
beyond one’s limits and achieving goals that seemed unreachable just a
few days before, are rewards well worth the quest We want all of our
participants to come away from our program not only as better athletes,
but also as better young people more confident in themselves and stronger
in their ability to overcome challenges If your athlete does incur any type
of injury during the course of practice (such as sore or pulled muscles)
please bring it to the attention of the coach immediately
Practices start promptly and each child must check in and out with the
coach The warm ups and stretches that we do at the beginning of practice
are essential to a safe and productive workout Waiting until late arrivals roll
in is unfair to the group, and may cheat the late-arriving athlete out of a proper
warm-up Please be courteous to the coaches by not being late to pick up
the athletes promptly at the end of practice PLEASE BE ON TIME
