2012 Season Preparations Begin
Preparations have already been underway for the 2012 Mercy volleyball season.

To help with your planning, here are some of the early tentative details ......
 
Summer Camp
10th-12th grade - July 9th through 12th, (9:00 AM to 1:00 PM)
7th - 9th grade - July 16th - 19th, (9:00 AM to 1:00 PM)
 
Tryouts
Wednesday, August 8th through Friday August 10th
 
Initial Varsity Scrimmage
Saturday, August 11th, at White Lake Lakeland H.S.
 
Varsity Trip Up North
Saturday August 11th through Monday, August 13th
 
Maroon and Gold Pre-Season Banquet
Tuesday, August 14th
 
The Mercy East / West Showcase is planned for Wednesday, August 22nd.
 
The varsity plans to travel to the west side of the state twice this season, to Portage Central (August 18th) and to Rockford (September 8th).
 
With these dates more than 5 months away, please keep in mind that dates, times, and sites could change.

Mercy Caps 2011 as Greatest Volleyball Season Ever !
The 2011 Mercy volleyball Marlins completed the greatest season in school history with a disappointing loss in the regional finals to Canton.
 
Mercy spent the majority of the season ranked #1 in the state and set school records for tournaments (6) and matches (63) won.  The Marlins finished the season 63-4 overall, including a 38 match unbeaten streak (also a school record).
 
The Marlins won their ninth consecutive District title and 22nd in the last 25 years.
 
Your Snarlin' Marlins also were undefeated in Catholic League regular season play and won their second consecutive Catholic League tournament title as well.
 
Mercy volleyball also won a number of individual honors to complement their team successes in 2011 .......

Marlins Sweep Falcons for Ninth Consecutive District Championship!
Your volleyball Marlins continued their dominance of local Class A volleyball sweeping through District #25 at Farmington High school this week without losing a single game on their way to their ninth consecutive District title and their 22nd in the last 25 years !
 
The Big Fish defeated .....
North Farmington 25-12, 25-15, 25-19 on Tuesday
Walled Lake Western 25-3, 25-8, 25-9 on Thursday and then
host Farmington High 25-10, 25-10, 25-20 on Friday night
 
Way to go, Marlins !
 
The Marlins are now 62-3 on the season, and take their state championship quest to the regionals November 8th and 10th at Brighton H.S.  Your volleyball heroines face the host Brighton Bulldogs at 7 PM Tuesday the 8th.  If successful against Brighton, the Marlins would then face the winner of the Canton vs. White Lake Lakeland match on Thursday evening (6:00 PM) again at Brighton in the Regional Final.

Join us this week  in following the Snarlin Marlins, as they seek their third consecutive regional championship and gun for their first ever volleyball state championship !
Mercy Caps Great Regular Season, Ready for State Tournament!
The 2011 Mercy volleyball Marlins finished the greatest regular season in school history by sweeping undefeated to their sixth tournament championship Saturday, October 29th at Grand Blanc.
 
The Big Fish powered their way through pool play in Grand Blanc by vanquishing ...
Lapeer East 25-9, 25-12
Ortonville Brandon 25-10, 25-9
Royal Oak Shrine 25-8, 25-12
and host Grand Blanc 25-16, 25-20
 
In the championship Gold bracket, the Marlins again rolled through without dropping a single game with wins against
Midland Dow 25-15, 25-19 and ...
again dropping the host Grand Blanc Bobcats in the title match 25-16, 25-14
 
With that successful end to the 2011 regular season, your Big Fish take a stellar 59-3 record into the state championship playoffs.
 
Now, the Marlins begin their ultimate quest in 2011, with Class A District #25 action from Farmington High School.  Mercy will open at 7:00 Tuesday night, November 1st against the North Farmington Raiders.  If successful, the Marlins will play the Walled Lake Western Warriors, again at 7:00, on Thursday, November 3rd.  If they manage to also win that match, Mercy would face an opponent to be determined (either Harrison, West Bloomfield, or host Farmington) in the District final Friday, November 4th at 6:00 PM.
 
Be sure to come on out to Farmington High this week and join the fun of the 2011 state championship tournament!

Mercy Repeats as Catholic League Champs !!!
Your Viscious Fishes, the Snarlin' Marlin volleyballers continued their greatest season in school history in grand style defeating the Livonia Ladywood Blazers in the Catholic League semi-finals at Mercy Thursday night October 20th 25-19, 24-26, 25-18, 25-13 ..... and following that with their patented come-from-behind, snatch-victory-from-the-jaws-of-defeat knockout of their arch-rival Birmingham Marian Mustangs 22-25, 26-28, 29-27, 25-21, 15-9 in the Catholic League A-B Final Monday, October 24th from Madonna University.

With the successful completion of the 2011 Catholic League tournament, your Big Fish take their 53-3 record and close out the 2011 tournament schedule Saturday, October 29th at Grand Blanc High School.

2011 Beast of the East Champions
Marlins Sweep through Big Week, Clinch CHSL Regular Season Title, Repeat as East Kentwood Champs
Your top ranked volleyball Marlins swept through a huge start to October, undefeated last week, cementing their position as the undeniably best volleyball team in the state.
 
On Tuesday, October 4th, the Marlins delivered a repeat performance, come-from-behind win over arch-rival Marian dropping the first two 19-25 and 24-26, before again (just like the previous Tuesday), coming all the way back to take the last three games and the match 25-23, 25-13, 15-11. 
 
Your Vicious Fishes then backed that up Thursday, October 6th, with a hard fought regular season CHSL title-clinching 3-1 win over a fired up Ladywood team 24-26, 25-23, 25-20, 25-17.  The Mighty Marlins took Ladywood's best shot in the first game in front of a raucous Ladywood student body still fired up from their previous day "Fish Fry" preparations, before asserting control and winning their first undisputed regular season league title in many years.
 
And to top off the week, Mercy then traveled to the East Kentwood "Dig Pink" Breast Cancer Fund Raiser Tournament hosted at Caledonia High School in suburban Grand Rapids on Saturday, October 8th. The Snarlin' Marlins swept to the tournament title undefeated against several top ten ranked teams, dropping only a single game the entire day:
 
Traverse City West 25-11, 25-22
Forest Hills Northern 25-16, 25-21
Plainwell 21-25, 25-22, 15-10
East Grand Rapids 25-21, 25-23
Hudsonville 25-15, 25-11
Portage Central 25-18, 25-17
and in the championship final, again defeating East Grand Rapids 25-19, 25-18
 
The Big Fish have now improved their season record to 43-3 (5-0 in the Catholic League) and return to action this week with a Senior Night Jungle Rumble with Warren Regina Thursday, October 13th at Mercy and then a fun tournament appearance at the Michigan Elite Sports Center onSaturday, October 15th for the Beast of the East Tournament where they get the chance to be challenged by all the top powers in girl's volleyball from, this week, the east side of the state.

Marlins Start Fast in 2011 CHSL
The #1 Mercy volleyball Marlins completed a successful first pass through the Catholic League with big road wins at Marian and Regina last week.
 
To start the week, your Snarlin' Marlins captured their first ever win at Marian's new gym Tuesday, September 27th, with a thrilling come from behind win over the Mustangs 17-25, 20-25, 25-23, 25-12, 15-10.  The Oakland Press reported on the match in this article: www.miprepzone.com/oakland/results.asp?ID=5496
 
Mercy followed that by dropping the Warren Regina Saddlelites in three straight Thursday, September 29th, clearing the bench on the way to 25-8, 25-17, 25-14 wins.
 
The Big Fish have now improved their season record to 34-3 (3-0 in the Catholic League) and return to action this week with a home Jungle Rumble with Marian Tuesday, October 4th and then at Livonia Ladywood Thursday, October 6th (both matches to start at approx. 6:30 PM).
 
After that dedicated stretch of league contests, the Marlins next tournament appearance will be Saturday, October 8th at the East Kentwood Tournament where they get the great opportunity to once again take on several of the biggest powers in girl's volleyball from the west side of the state.

Big Fish Open 2011 CHSL Play with 3-0 Sweep of Blazers!
Your mighty Marlin volleyballers continued their winning ways in 2011 Thursday, this time on the Catholic League stage, with a 3 game sweep of their familiar rivals, the Livonia Ladywood Blazers.
 
The Rumble in the Jungle theme filled the Mercy gym with excitement and the talented Blazer varsity provided a strong test early before the Marlins were able to pull away with the sweep 25-18, 15-15, 25-10.
 
The Marlin freshmen and junior varsity also swept Ladywood in their respective matches to provide the Big Fish volleyball program with a perfect start to the league season all the way around.
 
With that great league start, the Marlins now continue their 2011 season with their next four matches all being CHSL contests ...

at #3 Birmingham Marian, Tuesday, Sept. 27th, 6:30 PM
at Warren Regina, Thursday, Sept. 29th, 6:30 PM
home vs. Marian, Tuesday, October 4th, 6:30 PM
at Livonia Ladywood, Thursday, October 6th, also 6:30 PM

Mercy is now 32-3 (matches won-lost, 67-7 in games) on the season, and they continue ranked #1 in Michigan Class A in the MIVCA Coaches Poll.
 
After that dedicated stretch of league contests, the Marlins next tournament appearance will be Saturday, October 8th at the East Kentwood Tournament where they get the great opportunity to once again take on several of the biggest powers in girl's volleyball from the west side of the state.

Marlins Capture Third Tournament Title of 2011 at Flushing
The Marlin volleyball machine got back on track with an undefeated 6-0 (12-0) match record at the Flushing Raider volleyball tournament on September 17th.
 
The Big Fish blasted through pool play with wins over ...
Flint Carman-Ainsworth 25-13, 25-15
Warren Mott 25-17, 25-15 and
Almont 25-10, 25-1 (!)
 
In the gold (championship) playoffs, Mercy swept through wins over ...
Carman-Ainsworth again 25-12, 25-16
North Branch 25-21, 25-12 ... and finally
Clarkston 25-14, 25-19
 
With those results, Mercy moves to 31-3 on the season, and they are now ranked #1 in Michigan Class A in the MIVCA Coaches Poll.
 
The Marlins continue their 2011 mission, beginning their league schedule Thursday, September 22nd at home against Ladywood.

The Mighty Marlins posted a 5-1 record on their way to a runner-up finish in the Lake Orion volleyball tournament on September 10th.
 
They cruised through pool play without dropping a game by defeating ...

In the gold (championship) playoffs, Mercy dropped ...
L'Anse Creuse North 25-12, 25-16 and

With those results, Mercy moves to 25-3 on the season, their best start ever.
 
The Marlins continue on next week at the Flushing tournament before beginning their league schedule Thursday, September 22nd at home against Ladywood.

Mercy Volleyball went 5-1 taking second place at the Macomb Dakota tournament on August 27th.
 
The Marlins breezed through pool play in their typical fashion without dropping a game by defeating ...

In the gold (championship) playoffs, Mercy won over ...

... before dropping a close championship match to Birmingham Marian 19-25, 25-19, 9-15, the Marlins first loss of the year.
 
With that runner-up finish, Mercy is now 15-1 on the season.

Mercy Captures Inaugural East West Showcase
The Mercy Marlin volleyball team continued their early season success by grabbing the championship title over an impressively talented field, as the Big Fish hosted the first annual East West Showcase event Wednesday, August 24th.
 
The Marlins were undefeated in round robin play with victories over .....
Livonia Churchill 25-15, 25-16
Rockford 25-20, 25-23
Lake Orion 25-15, 23-25, 15-12 and 
Marian 28-26, 25-21

And in the championship match, Mercy defeated their powerful west side guests, the Rockford Rams, a second time by a repeat 25-20, 25-23 score.

The Marlins are now 10-0 on the early season and will next see action Saturday, August 27th at the Macomb Dakota invitational tournament.

Marlins Pick Up Where They Left Off in 2011
Your Snarlin' Marlin volleyball powerhouses picked up the 2011 season where they spent most of 2010: ... claiming yet another championship!
 
The 2011 Mercy volleyball Big Fish claimed the Portage Central Varsity Invitational tournament in their season opener Saturday in suburban Kalamazoo by sweeping through a field of state title contenders without dropping a single game.
 
The Marlins breezed through pool play with wins over .....
Saline 25-16, 25-9
Livonia Ladywood 25-18, 25-16
Temperance Bedford 25-12, 25-17 and
host Portage Central 25-11, 25-14

Then, Mercy captured the tournament championship match with a victory over Birmingham Marian 25-21 and 25-19

The Marlins will next see action Wednesday, August 24th as they host the East / West Showcase in Wixom at Homecourt Advantage from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM against five of the state's best teams from both sides of the state.

Come on out Wednesday and see six Top Ten teams from last year in a premier display of volleyball power !

Marlin Volleyball Ready for 2011 Campaign
Tryouts have been completed and the 2011 Mercy Marlin volleyball Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Freshman teams are set ! 
 
The Varsity kicks off its season at the Portage Central Varsity Invitational Saturday, August 20th.
 
The Junior Varsity opens up by hosting a Tri-Match Tuesday, August 23rd at 4:00 PM.
 
And the Freshman start the season also at home Thursday, August 25th hosting a Tri-Match of their own also starting at 4:00 PM.
