About Instructional Soccer There are no actual "games" or "practices" for the Instructional Soccer program. Coach Rick volunteers his time to the children that are too young to play for Mesquite Soccer Association, so that they can start learning the game of soccer on a very simple level. This program is not affiliated with Mesquite Soccer Association other than Coach Rick using one of our fields.
Coach Rick's classes are held on Saturdays and Sundays, class time depends on the player’s age.
Each parent / guardian is required to attend the class with their child. Coach Rick does games and activities with both the parents and players for approximately 30 - 40 minutes, you the parent will be out on the field with your child helping them follow directions and participate. The last 15 - 20 minutes Coach Rick splits the players up and let's them do a scrimmage game. Each class is divided up by age - he does simpler activities with the littler ones and more difficult / complex activities with the older ones.
There are no weekly practices or games - this is simply instructional activities that are simple and easy for 2, 3, and 4 year olds to follow and start learning about soccer.
Each child is required to bring water / sports drink, #3 size soccer ball, and a parent / guardian to each session. They need to wear their instructional t-shirt (which is provided for each player with the $20 fee), shin guards, and athletic / tennis shoes. Soccer cleats and soccer shorts are not required, but at the sign-up meeting Dallas East Sports will be available for you to purchase these items if you would like. Most player’s wear black shorts and socks, but again, this is not a requirement.
$20 fee (includes Instructional t-shirt and trophy at the end of the season)
