The 2013 spring softball season is winding down.  We are in the process of trying to make up some of the rainout games.

 

Please see your coach for any schedule changes.

 

There will be an end of the season tournament on the weekend of May 17th - 18th, 2013.

The tournament will be held at Rhyne Park, Smyrna, Ga.

Congratulations to the ladies of the 12 & Under Milford Legend!!!!

The 12 & Under Milford Legend went(5 & 1) on the road to the championship.

They won their pool play game and lost the 1st game of the regular bracket. The Milford Legend had to fight their way through the loser bracket and defeat the undefeated team twice to capture the championship.

The Legend did it in great fashion by defeating the undefeated team 6 to 2 in the 1st game of the championship to force an 'IF' game. The Legend was on a roll and went on to win the 'IF' game 11 to 0.

The Tournament was held at the Hurt Road Park in Austell, GA.

Way to represent Ladies/Coaches/Parents.

GSA's IT'S STILL COLD Tournament - Runner-Ups!!!!

Congratulations to the ladies of the 12 & Under Milford Legend for taking 2nd place!!!!

The Milford Legend finished the tournament with a 3-2 record.

Not bad for being their first tournament of the season with only a few practices.

GSA's Trick Or Treat - Runner-Ups!!!!

Congratulations to the ladies of the 10 & Under Milford Lightning for taking 2nd place!!!!

The Milford Lightning played in their first tournament after being together only a few weeks!!!!!

The 10 & Under Milford Lightning finished with a 3 & 2 record after losing the first game.

The Milford Lightning was tough and held on to make it to the championship game.

The Tournament was held at the Sweetwater Park in Austell, GA.

The 10/12 Interleague and 13+ teams kicked off their season last week and the T-Ball and 8 & Under teams will kick off their fall season this Saturday, September 17th !!!

10/03/09: Congratulations to the 12 & Under Milford Impact for coming in 1st place in the GSA Fall tournament held at South Cherokee Recreaction Association Park in Cherokee County, Saturday, October 3rd. The Milford Impact won the Championship game 5-2, finishing up after midnight on Sunday morning.

6/27/09: SCRC Summer Sizzler Champions
Congratulation goes out for finishing in first place at the South Cherokee Recreation Association's (SCRA) Summer Sizzler Fastpitch Tournament. The Milford Impact went undefeated again throughout the entire State tournament.

10/05/09: Congratulations to the Milford Rockstarz for coming in 2nd out of 8 teams in the USSSA Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, 12U B '98 class, which was also their 1st tournament in 12U….the Rockstarz had a long day defeating the Georgia Rumble, Brookwood Lady Broncos, and the North Gwinnett Dynimite Dawgs. The Rockstarz lost the championship game 10-9 in 3 International tie breaker innings to the Macon Blast finishing up at after midnight Sunday morning. The girls showed lots of heart during a grueling day and a cold night. The pitchers were great all day, the bats heated up in the last 2 game; every single player got a hit and got on base at least once. The defense turned 3 double plays and was solid throughout day This performance was very impressive considering all the teams we played have played at least 3 Fall tournaments and this is our 1st tournament since July 25th.

9/12/09: Congratulations to the 12U Milford Impact for bringing home 2nd Place in their 2nd tournament of the 2009 Fall Season. The Impact played in the 12B Gold Class.

8/29/09: Congratulations to the 12U Milford Impact for bringing home 2nd Place in their first tournament of the 2009 Fall Season. The GSA tournament was held at the Hurt Road Park Softball field. The Impact played hard from morning until around 11 PM at night with a 5 & 2 record.

7/18/09: Congratulations for bringing home 2nd Place. The GSA tournament was held at the Wheeler High School Softball field. The Impact finished the tournament with a 4 and 2 record for the day. Keep playing great ball ladies and continue representing the Park well!!

5/16/09: Congratulation for making it to the Championship game and capturing 2nd Place in the 2009 Coca-Cola/Cobb Classic.

This Summer all of our teams (8 & Under Milford Lightning, 10 & Under Milford Rockstarz, 12 & Under Milford Impact, 14 & Under Milford Elite, 16 & Under Milford Krush and 16 & Under Milford Showtime) represented the Milford Girls Softball Program well.

Thanks to all of the parents and coaches for your dedication and support!!!!

Congratulations to the 10U Milford Rockstarz for coming in 1st place in the CSA 10U “ World Series” in McDonough.  The Rockstarz went 8-2 (5-0 on Sunday)and winning championship 11-4 and the “if’ game 6-0 over the Alabama Extreme Stock.  This is now the 4th 1st place championship for the girls this year and the 3rd in a row.  In the word of Coach Victor, "The girls faced the a dominating pitcher from the Extreme stock, but we small balled her and finally knocked her out the game with “shots” through the infield and over the outfield head.  The Rockstarz avenged the earlier losses to the Middle Georgia Hurricanes and the Extreme Shock; the girls saved the hits for the 2 most important games. Hopefully we will see we will see Alabama Extreme Shock again in the GSA World Tournament again this week in Carrolton.  As always, I was again very proud of the way our girls gave there all and no one gave up".

7/13/09: Congratulations to the 10U Milford Rockstarz for coming in 1st place in the “Feel The Heat” GSA Tournament @ Milford on a long hot day, going 4-1 and winning championship game against the Georgia Crusaders. This is the 3rd 1st place championship for the girls this year and the 2nd in a row. The Rockstarz faced the most dominating pitch they have faced all year and beat her. We are again very proud of the way our girls gave there all and no one gave up.

3/18/09: The 10 & Under Milford Rockstarz are starting the 2009 season where they left off last year. Congratulations goes to the Rockstarz who 1st place in the GSA "Let's Play Ball" Tournament held at the Hurt Road Park in!!!

The 10U Milford Impact Captures 3rd place in the "Feel The Heat” GSA Tournament @ South Cherokee Recreation Association Park in Cherokee County. Keep up the good work.

Congratulations to the 10U Milford Rockstarz for coming in 1st place in the 4th Annual Summer Sizzler Tournament (11 teams) in South Cherokee on a long hot 90+ degree day, going 5-0 and winning championship game 11-3 against the Sharon Springs Spartans.

Congratulations to the 16 & Under Milford Showtime!!! The Milford Showtime captured 2nd place in the GSA's "It's Hot" Tournament. The tournament was held at Terrell Mill Park in Marietta.

The girls played hard as usual.

Congratulation to the 14 & Under Milford Elite Fast-Pitch Team for placing 2nd in their first tournament of the Summer. The girls played 9 games in one day. They won their pool game and lost their first game of the regular bracket and worked their way all the way to the championship game and forced another game by beating the unbeaten team. They fell short of the win 10 to 11 in the 'If' game.

The ladies showed a lot of heart on Saturday.

The Milford Girls Softball Association continues to address issues pertaining to sportsmanship as they relate to athletes, coaches, parents, and spectators. A true sport shows a combination of positive values and attitudes.

Sportsmanship is an honorable quality that desires to be courteous, fair, and respectful. It is a blending of cheers for the "home team" and applause for the "visitors", observing the letter and spirit of the rules, and showing consideration for opponents. It is playing by the code of conduct, "treat other participants and spectators as you would want to be treated."

Fundamentals of Sportsmanship:

1. Show respect for the opponent.
2. Show respect for the officials.
3. Know, understand, and appreciate the rules of the contest.
4. Maintain self-control.
5. Recognize and appreciate skill in performance regardless of affiliation.

The Lessons of Good Sportsmanship:

The lessons of good sportsmanship-playing the game hard but fair, winning humbly, losing gracefully, developing respect for discipline and authority, playing and living by the spirit as well as the words of the rules-are not confined to those who play the game. EVERYONE should see the full impact and potential of athletics as an educational experience. This is a challenge that we must pursue.
