The boys played the weekend of April 25th in the Northstar Hoops Report Future Stars Classic and finished with a 2-1 record and capturing 2nd place in the Division 2 Bracket. Northstar Hoops tracked 3 of the players who had outstanding performances over the weekend play; lets give Richard, TJ and Emmette a big hand on representing The Ballers!!!

Minnesota Heat Meg Vang Invitational: All 3 Ballers teams were on the court for the annual Meg Vang Invitational and starting off with our 12U team they faced some tough teams in the Divison One Bracket. Our 12U boys battled the North Dakota Phenom and Minnesota Heat/Erichsrud but Coach Bill was able to guide the boys to a much needed victory over North Iowa Fire to finish the weekend 1-2. Coach James and our 14U boys competed in the Division Two Bracket and finished with a 2-1 record, with a tough loss against a very good Comets Blue team but they bounced back with soild wins over MN Ice and TSF Celtics. With over 33 teams in the 14U Division One bracket, Coach Watkins and his squad were tested by the Comets North in the opening game with a 1 point win but dropped the second game to the Wisconsin Hoops team by 4 points. The boys wrapped up with an OT win against SMBA to finish with a 2-1 record.

Minnesota Fury Shootout: 12U and 14U(Watkins) took the court in the annual Minnesota Fury Shootout. The 12U team battled a tough MN Heat team and SWest Slam team to drop their first two games. They concluded the weekend with a hard fought loss against North Dakota Phenom to finish with an 0-3 record. Coach Bill will be getting the boys back on track with some hard practices inthe next couple of weeks before they hit the court again. 14U also ran into a tough opponent Friday night losing to SMBA but bounced back on Saturday with back to back wins against MN Heat(Grow) and E1T1 Black. This moved them into the final 8 where they faced one of the best 14U teams in the state MND1 and gave them a good run but could not match their size in the post. 14U finished with a 2-2 record for the tournament and have a couple weeks off before they head to Omaha to play.

Minnesota Select Tournament(MBA): 14U(Gaines) were back in action at North St.Paul High School the weekend of May 17th. They played two very close games to start the weekend against Real Athletics and SWest Slam losing both games by less than 5 points. They took on P.E.M in the final game of pool play but lost that game by single digits, although they went 0-3 for the weekend they played in a higher division against some of the tougher 14U teams in the state.

Midwest Basketball Showcase(Omaha,NE): The 12U and 14U(Watkins) teams traveled to Omaha for the Midwest Basketball Showcase where there were over 300 teams in attendance for the weekend events. 12U took on a tough Nebraska Hoops Elite  team in the opening game but bounced back to beat the Iowa Elite 37-29 to advance to the championship bracket. Our boys lost the first game in the round to the Iowa Ambush by 7 points but concluded with a win against the Midwest Trailblazers. 12U finished the weekend 2-2.  14U started pool play Saturday against KVL Elite and lost a hard fought game by 9 points then they had to face JC Hoops in their second game. After a back and forth second half JC Hoops pulled away late in the game to win by 10 points knocking the Ballers to the consolation bracket. After a rough start the boys came back to beat Santford Pentagon by 26 and the Iowa Extreme by 43 points ending the weekend 2-2.

They then moved on to the championship game against SW Slam to cap the weekend off with a 49-40 win and a first place trophy!!!! What a great weekend to finish 3-0 before going into state tournaments next weekend.

MYAS Spring Championship: Off to Albertville/St.Michael's High School for Coach James and his 14U squad to face Spring Lake in their opening game. The Ballers took care of business in their first game with a 47-32 win and followed up with another convincing win against Faribault 52-45. The next opponent was the Mpls Lakers and another win for our Ballers beating them by 24 points to advance to the championship game against the Prairie Trojans. Our Ballers gave the fans a good show and the Trojans a good run until the final minutes but Richard and Demar both fouled out letting the game slip away and losing 48-43 to take 2nd place in state!  Coach Sean's 14U team were at Coon Rapids High School for the Division 2 Championship. The Ballers were able to handle both Wayzata EWC and The Comets by taking 1st place in Pool A. They then advanced to play the Nevis Tigers beating them 55-24 and followed by an 11 point win over St.Thomas. Our Ballers went to the wire beating MN Magic Gold on a last second 3 pointer to advance to the Championship game against Westside! The Ballers and Westside both played an excellent game and proved that both teams deserved to be in the final game. A tough second half by Westside made he difference in the game and our Ballers could'nt cut the lead as Westside pulled away late in the game beating our Ballers 45-36! A tough loss for our guys but a great effort and great accomplishment for taking 2nd place!! Great job to both 14U teams for representing the Ballers and walking away with some hardware at State!!!

Minnesota Heat Summer Showcase: Coach Bill & Coach James took their squads to Coon Rapids High School to battle in the annual Heat Summer Showcase.  12U got it started with a Win over MN Heat/Blodgett and took on Get Shook in the next round game. The Ballers gave them a good game but let it slip away late in the game. They came back with a win against MN Heat/Long to finish the weekend 2-1. 14U also got off to a hot start by beating MN Heat/Marcus 48-42, followed by a 2 point win over E1T1/Red 40-38 moving them to the semi final game against MN Heat/Givens and gave them a good run pulling away 57-53 for a championship game showdown with TSF Celtics. Our Ballers once again prevailed and took home 1st place by beating the Celtics 58-52. Another great weekend of hooping for 14U going 4-0 for the weekend and some more hardware. The Ballers bounced back with a 63-54 win versus a very tough Knights team and wrapped up the weekend with a 34 win against MN Ice. 14U finished the weekend with a 2nd place finish and another trophy to the collection!!!

All Iowa Attack Summer Midwest Summer Start Up: All 3 of our Ballers teams headed to Ames, Iowa for the annual Midwest Summer Start Up. Big congrats to Coach Bill and our youngest group of Ballers by taking 1st Place in the 6th grade division. This was by far the best ball our 12U team has played all year and it goes to show how the hard work and effort pays off. They took on Showtime Hoopers, North Iowa Fire, Iowa Force and the Iowa Gym Rats to go 4-0 going into the final game in pool play against All Iowa Attack Black. In a back and forth game it came down to the 3 point shot that just missed and a 3 point loss. With the 4-1 overall record that still gave 12U the championship and bragging rights that they took care of business.Coach Sean's 14U team finished the weekend with 2nd place in pool play and a 2-2 record. After an impressive start beating Iowa Elite by 25 points, they took a tough 7 point loss to MN Heat/Grow. Going into pool play they faced a very talented South Dakota Attack team that took over in the 2nd half winning by double digits and finished the tournament with a forfeit victory over KC Keys. Coach James and 14U came out the gate with two big wins against Hoopla and All Iowa Attack. The competition only got tougher for our boys as they took the next three loses against Eastern Iowa Flight

T.E.A.M Youth Services Group Inc was founded by a group of caring parents in response to the growing decline of positive youth development opportunities available to young men of diverse backgrounds in the Northwest suburbs and Minneapolis areas. Its purpose is to ensure that our young men have the opportunities they need today for a successful future tomorrow. The program is designed to provide a supportive and engaging environment where young men can reach their maximum potential, both off and on the court. We provide student athletes with an opportunity to participate in NCAA and AAU sanctioned basketball exposure events, college prep and mentorship programming.
