It's Been Over a Year...
Booooooooooooo! It's been a year since LA won the World Series and still no trophy presentation. The F-Up at Charlestion/Thunder Bay needs to get his/her act together!
Where is the Fun?
September 19, 2007
It's Talk Like a Pirate Day. It got me thinking. Talk like a Pirate Day is designed for fun, just like MLBA, but we've turned into Melba Toast. It used to be said that our group of guys could make anything fun, but lately it seems like most emails are getting ignored.
I put something out about meeting for Micro League events and only John answered (Thanks John) If you want to be in any kind of league you're actually going to have to participate. So what's going on? Too busy? Pissed off? Poor communicator? All three?
If you think that you're too busy get your crap together, make a one day a week, 15 minutes commitment.
Pissed off at people? Grow up, either deal with it or forget it.
Poor communicator? See above, make an effort.
Come on Mateys! Friendship takes a little work sometimes. Make a bad trade,(Thanks Cliff!) do something!
It is Time
March 21, 2007
I think that with today's information we could easily adjust our rules and let teams draft players who have yet to play in the majors. Perhaps we let teams on draft one player. When we made the rule, there were few sources of information out there about minor league players and such and we felt that it would people at a huge disadvantage. Now I think that its almost easier to prepare with the idea of being able to draft non-major leaguers. If they are not on a MLBA team, they eligible.
It would be fun for the teams who are interested, and yes, they might snag a few potential MVPs, but, just as in the pros, their will be huge misses. The teams who wish to ignore minor leaguers will actually benefit by having better "proven" talent available to make an impact available in the draft.
We could start in '09 and not affect rosters.
How about?
December 1, 2006
Forming a Trade Approval Committee (TAC)
This group of 5 owners would look at trades and give a simple thumbs up or thumbs down. IF they have a majority of thumbs down, then the issue would be brought to the league for final approval. We would ask who wanted to serve and vote for 5 at the Winter (Spring?) meeting.
Realigned Realignment
November 30, 2006
Assuming all the final paperwork is completed with the Bob Marsh ownership group picking up Memphis, here's a realignment proposal. Again, each division can vote to have the DH or not and the name of the division
Division I (all mulitiple owners)
Baton Rouge
Birmingham
Denver
Las Vegas
Thunder Bay
Vancouver
Division II
Anchorage
Charleston
Dacula
San Pedro
Seattle
Division III
Bismarck
Los Angeles
Memphis
Pontiac
Tucson
I am leaning toward having three division winners, and two wildcards playing in, for a total of 5 teams in the playoffs.
November 20, 2006
I feel that 2006 was the year of low involvement in MLBA. I think this was the case for two reasons. First, our lives have changed. We choose not to spend the amount of time that we have spent in the past. The more time we spend on MLBA "costs" us later with our spouces. Second, we are more geographically undersireable now than before. We have moved to the four corners of the country, well, at least almost. So getting together takes a lot more than a quick phone call or email.
I think, on that, we can agree.
I think that we have the league set-up for our previous lifestyles and we need to make some tough adjustments to ensure that everyone has equal opportunity for fun. Here's a start of a plan. I hope others will join in the discussion and not use our usual method of ignoring the problem until it goes away.
1. Realign the league and add a wildcard option. It works in the pros the same way it will work for us. It will keep more people involved longer. I know that those of us who are most influential in the rule-making have two teams. Having two teams keeps us more involved becasue if one team is tanking then we have a chance that the other teams is still in the running, so it is easier for us to miss this point.
Here's a proposal
Division 1
Thunder Bay - Scott
Baton Rouge - Jeff
Vancouver - Dave
Birmingham - Tom
Las vegas - Cliff
Division 2
Denver - Bob
Tucson - Jerry
San Pedro - Dale
Dacula - Daniel
Pontiac - John
Memphis - new owner
Division 3
Anchorage - Tom
Seattle - Jeff
Charleston - Scott
Los Angeles - Dave
Bismarck - Cliff
Each division will vote on DH or no DH and the official name of the division.
The guys with one team are all in one division. The guys with two teams play in the same divisions.
Games can either be played just in one division or we could interdivsionalize them.
Teams winning their division would make the playoffs and then the next two best records would play for a wild card birth.
Some will talk about "traditions" of the league, an how we've always had the NL and the AL kept separate, which I would buy if we would had kept better track of teams records and stats, but honestly we have really only kept the World Series Champions on record, so this would be no change.
Bottom Line: Teams would be in like divisions. More teams would be in the running later in the season. Teams in a league with a powerhouse would still have a reason to stay ingaged.
2. Everyone needs to buy the game and input his own line-up changes. The actual act of making your own changes makes your team more a part of you. We need a little more research done to make this happen, but others are already doing it, so it can happen.
Strat-O-Matic On Line
September 18, 2006
John suggusted last year that we switch over to a Rotisserie league for MLBA. That suggustion was met with shock and contempt. While to some, Strat and Fantasy baseball may seem to be the same, actually fantasy baseball and strat-o-matic are very different anilmals. I don't think that John was looking at the style of the game, but instead the ease of play, and with that he has a point.
Here's why simulation is much better than rotisserie. In rotisserie you are merely a GM. You hire and fire and sit back. Your fate is decided by two factors, your ability to hire and fire the right players, and how the major league clubs utilize your players. Simulation takes the action to a whole new level. You still have the ability to hire and fire, but you also set the line-ups. You need a lead-off hitter,a guy who is good with the bat that can move a runner over, a clean-up hitter, etc. You are creating a symphony. You must have long relief guys and closers and specialty players, and you must decide when they are used, AND you have to think about defense. They don't compare, simulation is baseball - the thinking man's pasttime, rotisserie is gambling, many times with slot machine luck. That is why there is and was contempt at the thought of switching.
Rotisserie, however, does have some positive points. Mainly, the websites that have popped up that run the leagues. Any GM can have access to his team at any time. He can pop off to the league, place waiver claims, and add and delete from his roster automatically. It's an instant 24/7 thing.
That's where we are falling behind the times. When we started this thing in 1986, we didn't have the internet, we met face to face for about 8 hrs each week. It was our golden times. While we have added our websites and we now have email, what we have creates a great divide. The ones who run games have a much better experience, and they have to pay for that better experience by doing the sausage making for the league. Because the runners do so much work they have a better understanding of what is going on and usually can make an informed decision to make adjustments to the league, however, we can be defensive when asked to explain, or parental when we make decisions without attempting to include everyone. And while there are times when a quick decision is thought to be the best course of action, it actually widens the divide, regardless of whether the right course was taken.
I think that in 2006 we have more options available to us that will level the playing field and greatly lesson the burden of anyone running the league. The Sporting News has, what could be, the best of both worlds - a Strat-O-Matic league module. I'm currently in a trail version of the league and have been in contact with other managers who have played Strat in the way that we play. The site will let all managers set their left/right line-ups. Pitching rotation, specialists, closers, defensive subs, runners, and manager tendencies that agressive baserunning, sacrificing, IBB and more. Manager's can change these setting nightly without having to request that someone else make these changes. They run three games per night and play a 162-game schedule. It also allows waiver claims. There are some differences like there is a salary component, but I believe that can be modified by making the cap very large so it wouldn't need to come into play. I will learn more and report.
Ramblings
September 11, 2006
August was vacation month. I have my vacation blog posted in the Links section. To see the start, check the August archives.
League Stuff - I still think that we need to reorganize how we run the league by having fewer meeting dates but stressing higher attendance. Here's how I remember this year's dates (I don't use "play dates" because that's what my kids have)
Winter Meeting - well attended, most were timely, fun was had by all
Draft - well attended fun was had by all
Opening day - average attendance (4) great pizza
May date - sparse attendance (3) great tri-tip roast, no games played because no one with the game on a notebook could attend.
June date - cancelled or not scheduled
July date - 5 attended? Great food.
August date - cancelled due to only 1 RSVP
September date - John has sent out information but received little response.
Right now the actual playing of games have taken a 3rd row seat compared to the wiffle and egg ball days of the league when the games were the focus. The Strat game itself will not lend us to playing more than one game at a time. So if you are actually playing a game, there is great pressure to get the game over quickly and not savor the fun of the game. I understand why, but it's still frustrating. Playing the games on line is not the answer becasue of our difficult personal schedules. I also feel that the weekly game play isn't as appreciated as we anticipated. It's nice and it still may be the best option we have, but I wonder if we made the playing days consist of three sessions, each holding a third of the season. We could quick play games as a week, and then make adjustments and perhaps we spend more time talking trade. The feel could almost be compared to draft day when we set up camp. So guys who feel that they are not keeping up weekly can make a real effort to attend the games dates and get a lot of feel for the league in a short period of time. Manager's who could not physically attend could participate on a website live.
At the winter meeting when I beat this drum, we agreed that we would use the Haines scheduling approach to include more people into the date consideration and see if that boosted attendance. It hasn't really changed anything.
I'd really like to see us all get together and talk about solutions.
New Commish?
July 14, 2006
The idea has surfaced that perhaps we should consider having a Commissioner for the Micro League. Since, one person has thrown his hat in the ring, we have decided to form an ad hoc committee charged to research and give a recommendation on #1 Should we have a commissioner, and if yes, #2 Shall we appoint Mike Tuhey.
Tom Johnson and John Haines are the committee members and we look forward to their findings and reports.
Etc. update
June 2, 2006
*Looking at the calendar, I'm up for running games in August. We are going on Vacation the 19 through the 26 so the 5-6 and 12-13 weekends are the options.
Checked out Tom's Page today It said that Sarah was suffering from borderline personality, Tom, talk to Jeff, he has suffered from borderline personality for a long time! : ) Good site Tom.
Mike is alive and well I called Mike and he has devoted his normal Micro League time to his business and has been working a lot lately.
I'm selling the Jeep pictured on this website and looking to pick up a Suburban 1995-1999 range. 4x4 of course. So if you have any leads let me know.
If we are going to pass anything concerning rosters for next season, I think June is the last month to do so. How about the minor league proposal? Anyone?
Mike Has Left the Building
May 23, 2006
For good or for bad, Mike has decided to leave the league. I guess the offcial reason would be irreconcilable differences. It appears to me that past battles have hardened him and left him inflexible to navigate rather routine issues. Mike will be missed. He was a very active owner who was always prepared. What made Mike fun to complete against was his system that always gave him hope for his teams. He was always tweaking things for that one big payoff.
I didn't see eye to eye with Mike on the issues that were, for him, the final straws, but I do commend him for going out without a final FU. His contributions to the business of the league will leave us with large gap to fill (is that a pun?).
So for the rest of us, let's move on and not dwell in the past.
It Is Time!
May 22, 2006
I think that it's time that we throw out the 1 Major League appearance rule.
Here's Why: When we made the rule we didn't even HAVE the internet. The research would have been very difficult. Now it's not. I know what you're thinking - It will make prepping for the current even harder Well actually I think that some guys will try and bone up on the minor leagues because it will be enjoyable. But all is not lost for the non-minor league crowd. When a few guys go prospecting - that will open up even more players for teams who choose not to look at minor leagues. So actually better quality stats guys will be there for the taking.
Will it Weaken Future Drafts?
Teams that are dipping into the minor leagues will be taking a huge gamble and many of those players may not pan out (Brien Taylor). It will be an exciting ride for those teams, but just like our regular draft, many won't be around long, but while gambling teams are taking these guys there will be many missed. (Remember Piazza was a 65th round selection)I think that the combination of players that are missed and the better quality of eligible players with usable stats will compensate.
Option: We could even make it a rule 5 kind of deal. you can draft 1 player without major league stats BUT he must remain on your major league roster...
Met System Error
May 16, 2006
Ok, Ok Mike, I think that you just want to get your hit count up ahead of mine, or perhaps you want me to update my website.
Well, here it is.
Mike,
If I could edit all of the good out of my life and just focus on all the bad things, I too would feel horrible.
If I only remembered bad comments, and forgot the praise, I would be miserable.
Everyone would have let me down at one point and I would have banished them.
Being friends does not mean that only positive things will happen.
While I didn't have the whole story on the all the emails, I did on Jerry's and my subsequent correspondence. Both of which you extracted only the parts that were deemed negative. There were positive things there that were ignored. You said that you left out the flowery words. Well that's like throwing out the baby and keeping the bathwater. You need both for an accurate reading.
You mentioned to me that you felt you were basically the only logical thinking person. It is logical to think that everyone else is negative and wrong all the time? Is it not logical to think that there is room for improvement in everyone? Even if everyone with which you have dealt is 95% wrong, would you not benefit from the other 5%?
This reminds me of the story of a man who was stranded on his roof during a flood. A boat came by and offered a ride, but the man said "God will provide" and turned down the offer. The water rose. A helicopter can by and dropped a ladder, but the man said "God will provide" and refused the ride. Soon the water rose again and washed the man off of the roof and he died. When he got to heaven he asked God "I believed in you. Why didn't you provide me with help?" And God said, "Hey I sent you a boat and a helicopter!"
MET Writes:
"Ask yourself, if you played a game with a bunch who thought of you this way, would you stay around?"
Perhaps it should be "if most of your friends say that you have a an area that needs attention, shouldn't you work on it?"
Arrrghhh!
March 11, 2006
Herding Cats!!! That's what it seems like when we try and make league decisions. If it takes an entire week of emails to answer a simple question like "can we draft on Saturday instead of Sunday?", perhaps that's a sign that we should move back to a Council or a Commish.
CoCo Crisp Named in Ramirez Deal
February 13, 2006
The Dacula Wreckers sent outfielder Co Co Crisp to Los Angeles as the PTBNL from their most recent deal. Crisp was held up because he was not listed in the draft section on the MLBA website. Rumor has it that there was some confusion on who was actually selected on draft day 2004 when management from Anchorage and Birmingham stepped in to help Dacula in the expansion draft. The Los Angeles GM, not knowing when Crisp was drafted, didn't want to expose Crisp to free agency if he still had some protection. With Crisp entering the league in the 2004 draft he no longer is protected under current rules.
In the deal LA sent Manny Ramirez and Kip Wells to Dacula who sent their 1st and 3rd round picks in 2006, along with Crisp. Los Angeles has been rumored to be talking deal to actually trade down to get a slightly later first round and a little something, something for the first over all pick.
Free Agent Overhaul
February 12, 2006
I'd like to see the MLBA make a slight alteration to the currect free agent protection system. Currently we select two players each year that are protected. It's a very easy choice because you just pick your two best players.
What I think that we should do is treat it a little more like a contract. Each team would get to protect three players. 1-player for three years, 1-player for two years, and 1-player for 1 year. This protection would stay with the player. So if Birmingham decides to give Bonds the 3-year protection, they would not be able to offer another three year protection until the Bonds deal has expired, even if he has been traded or retires.
With three websites now available, it would be easy to track.
We Need to Be More Web Based
February 8, 2006
Trying to get us all on the same page is like herding cats. Which is probably why some decisions have been made without full input from everyone.
We need to improve our communications and email is not the answer! We need to switch. Email has limitations. One problem is that some people cannot access personal email at work, but we can usually look at a website. The bigger problem is the timing. When we look at email we are almost forced to respond right away. Many times we have the choice of replying before we even see how others have responded. So our response does not include the collective wisdom of the league.
If you sit on an email, you're much more likely to forget about it. Even worse, if you happen to be away from email for a few days and something came up, you might be faced with 25 emails on a subject. That's a tough commitment sometimes.
We need to move to message boards. Right now we have two available. One on this site and one on Mike's. Very few manager's have taken advantage of them. Perhaps making one an "official site" might make more sense. Or maybe we have boards with different subjects. I'd like to see all trades and transactions on a board which would make it a lot easier to track.
Ramirez Requests Trade. LA Complies
February 5, 2006
Los Angeles Lights left fielder Manny Ramirez has again requested a trade, and this time the request was granted. The Lights dealt the disgruntled Rameriz along with Kip Wells to the Dacula Wreckers for draft picks and a player to be named later. During the season Ramirez asked to be traded to a playoff contender but Pontiac chose to acquire Lance Berkman for Jason Schmidt instead.
The trade signals a youth movement for the Lights and for Dacula it could be their strongest attempt at a division title, especially if the proposed realignment is approved by team owners during the winter meeting in Las Vegas.
"We need to move in a new direction." Said Los Angeles GM Dave Coleman, "Sometimes change for the sake of change can create a spark."
LA> Manny Ramirez, Kip Wells
DAC> 1DA06, 3DA06, PTBNL (C. Crisp)
Micro League Meeting
January 31, 2006
Here are some topics that we should consider:
Divide the winter meeting into two sessions.
The first session, between breakfast and lunch, should center on baseball business. We seem to have a lot to discuss this year like: Realignment, expansion, alteration, meeting frequency, free agency tweeking, play format...
We discuss and adjust, but no votes.
Then we break for lunch. During lunch we could continue to lobby, discuss etc.
The second session. We start with a vote of the previous items from sessions #1, then we pick dates, then we draft.
Where will we hold the meeting. I would assume that it would take place on the strip if we have folks staying there. Where? Do we meet for breakfast or is that optional? (I know that I'm going to make a visit to the BPS)
Are we bringing back the beverge shower?
Is it time for shirts again?
Is Vegas the Place?
That's all for now. Sound off on the Blog
Vegas Meeting Plans Shaping Up
January 18, 2006
Been on the horn with John, Mike, Cliff and Garrett. Here's what we have so far.
-Cliff, Dave and most likely Garrett should be golfing in Victorville around noon on Friday (Others are always welcome, just let me know!) Westwinds golf course is a 9-hole on the former George AFB, I think that it costs about $11-$15 with cart.
-After Golf we'll head for Primm for deluxe accommodations at Buffalo Bills.
-Tuhey will be staying at Whiskey Pete's and should arrive Friday.
-Haines is flying in and grabbing a car. Last I heard he was also staying at Buffalo Bill's
-Have not officially heard from Jerry, Jeff or Scott about locations. I'm just assuming that they might stay on the strip and that we'll have the meeting in Vegas on Saturday.
-I was planning on staying for the day in Vegas (with a visit to the Bass Pro Shop) spending the night back in Primm and heading out Sunday.
PS- Check the LINKS for Jeff's Microleague.com, go to the media link for the MLBAs best pictures!
World Basbeall Classic
January 18, 2006
I just bought a couple of strips of tickets to the games at Anaheim. I bought strip B, so they are all night games. The tickets are only $42 for three games! They are in section V523 row R.

Holy Cow! Predraft Rankings!!!
I was as surprised as you will be, but after finishing my preseason rankings, DENVER is tops in the Micro League! (Was that a flying pig going by outside?)
The system I use rates starters and back-ups at each position, so if you don't yet have quality back-ups in place, your rating will be lower and this year's draft can, of course, have a dramatic impact on these ratings. There are a few teams, Los Angeles to name one, that have a large hole at one position and will be penalized severly in this system. Obviously teams will address these issues before the season begins. Also, this system just looks at a pitching staff as a whole, so if you have three incredible starters, and then some junk in the trunk, it may not value your staff.
Rank / score / Team / Notes
1. 86 Denver - I'm not sure if Denver is even #1 in Mike's system
2. 79 Pontiac - Old guys are not yet dead
3. 78 Birmingham - Will Ryan Freel be starting everyday at 2B?
4. 75 Charleston - Potent hitting keeps the Rebels in contention
5. 73 Anchorage - Could be the year the Icemen break through
6. 71 Baton Rouge - Pitching, pitching, pitching
7. 68 Thunder Bay - Late in season deals improved '06 chances
8. 65 Vancouver - The Millennium Falcon of MLBA
9. 61 Bismarck - They can hit
10. 50 Memphis - They can pitch
11. 44 Seattle - Red Sox & White Sox have done it...Pilots=Cubs
12. 39 Tucson - A year or two away
13. 38 Los Angeles - Large holes to fill
14. 31 Las Vegas - Detroit looks better
15. 27 San Pedro - The best of the Whitehouse franchises
16. 15 Dacula - Runner-up in the Whitehouse family
Draft Prep 101: M.E.T.S. R.I.P.
A lot has changed since 1986. We didn't have the internet to help scout talent nor did we have Sports weekly. We basically had to wait until the annual publications came out to prepare for the draft. The Savvy were onto Bill James predictions. I can remember typing every stat into a spreadsheet and sorting the results. Before total bases were a common statistical category, I had a enhanced on base percentage that basically multiplied hits by 1.5 and added that number to walks, divided by at bats and multiplied by 1000 or divided by 100. I never had a name for it, but it served me well for a few years until detailed stats started to be available to everyone. Other guys had "systems" too, none were more notorious than M.E.T.S.
Just recently Mike mentioned that he no longer used M.E.T.S. M.E.T.S. was a somewhat controversial system that seemingly produced little results. Many dogged the system mearly because of placing of the Tuhey teams. Sure, Mike's teams usually floundered, but it was not just because of "METS." My view is that Mike's teams struggled for two reasons. First, early METS didn't take into account career stages and potential. He based his values soley on numbers. So Mike would draft a guy who just had a fluke career year and really only get one year of production from him. Which would be OK if you were filling a hole to make a stretch drive season, but it would leave him with so many holes that each draft Mike was Hans Brinker trying to save the village. The other downfall of the system was that it made Mike's intentions transparent. Want to make a deal, check your team for an old guy with great numbers and trade him to Mike for a young guy who had an off year.
Mike now uses what I call T.A.S.S. (Tuhey Advanced Souting System) (Hey it's my name for what he's doing but it just might catch on)or perhaps TSB (Tuhey Scouting Bureau) which invloves a weekly ritual of scouring Baseball Weekly for facts and vital tidbits on information. Then compiling that information about each player on a spreadsheet.(There are a few teams out there that should buy a subscription)
Probably the most important ratio for many right now is the S/TI ratio. Scouting/Time Involved. Somehow we've got to balance our lives and keep a lot more people happy than we did in the 80's
Whats do owners use now?
1. There are many fantasy mags out there that are a great quick reference for teams doing some draft cramming, and they usually turn up at the draft.
2. Spreadsheets. I know of a few owners who still crunch numbers (I'm one of them)and bring the results, either on a laptop or hardcopy to the draft.
3. Periodicals. I've seen a few Stats Inc. books. For a while I thought that I had an advantage using the Stats Inc. player profiles with projections, but I knew I didn't have sole access to Stats Inc. when I saw Tucson with the book tucked under one arm. (Same way I felt when I found out someone else purchased from Stratfan!)
4. Baseball Weekly- It takes a longer commitment, but they do a lot of number crunching.
5. Internet sites - Yup there's a lot out there.
Of course there is more out there, but I don't want to give away any secrets!
Who's That Player?
Can anyone guess who the background player is on the site? Use the blog to answer.
Contraction?
January 15, 2006
Fullerton (MLI)- Baton Rouge and Memphis have been contracted. That can only be assumed because the official MLBA website has the draft order up and Memphis and Baton Rouge are not included in this year's draft. There is no official word as to a plan regarding replacement or realignment. One manager wonders if we will have the supplimental draft at the winter meetings. More on this as it develops.
Well, apparently cooler heads have prevailed and Memphis has not been contracted, however Baton Rouge (BRB) has been replaced with (BTR), hmmm butter? The official draft list has been updated on MLBA to reflect these changes...
LA Dealing Pitching for Corner Help
December 24, 2005
The Los Angeles Lights have recently floated some offers involving some top of the line pitching in hopes of acquiring help at firstbase.
With Prior and Harden garnering lower prices because of reduced innings, LA has decided to offer the services of Manny Ramirez. They are looking for a great draft pick and a player that will fill a need at 1B and/or Catcher.
Pontiac Wins First Championship
October 16, 2005
The Pontiac Edsels finally reached the fast lane and defeated the Charleston Rebels in 5 games in unfavorable weather for their first World Series Championship
Pontiac knocked off Baton Rouge in 6 games to reach the Series as Charleston also took 6 games to defeat Memphis.
Did You Know?
The Los Angeles Lights had a winning record against every team (8-7) in the Metro Division except Charleston (7-8)and had a better percentage against the Coastal than the Metro?
Cliff Ogg is Back!!!
It was Mike Tuhey who knew how to cut through the red tape and make this one happen. Cliff attended our draft this year AND STILL WANTED TO BE A PART OF US! : )
There were a couple of GMs who had a hard time keeping up with the flow of the league and could have used the Ogg touch. I am as guilty of this as anyone, but no one asked.
It took Mike to pull the right strings and Viola! Tom has another intregal part of his farm back!!!! I half expected to wake up one morning to see Cliff sitting on the end of my bed again saying "Whadayagot, whadayaneed?"
OK, we can see by his effort in the Yahoo League that Cliffy has spent more time delivering Pottery Barn Catalogs than following MLB, but just give him some time and I'm sure that he can get Las Vegas up to the Turbos former glory. Oh wait, would they have to lose MORE games to get there?
Anyway, a day or two after Dale's press confernce about the transfer of ownership (I'm sure there was a hefty tax write off or something)I decided that I'd give Cliff his first trade offer. When I arrived I was directed to a line with at least two other GMs representing four teams who were already there!
Right now Cliff is the league expert on Brandon Inge and Pudge, but that's about it. So we'll need to give him a little space for him to look though his mail sack and start reading others' Baseball Weekly's (At least they are not wrapped in plastic like the other magazines he usually reads...)
