The New Jersey Monarchs AAU Basketball Club was founded in 1996 by current executive director, Rich Wejnert. Rich has been a distinguished player and coach in New Jersey for more than 3 decades.
In 1977 Rich became the first McDonald's High School All American for the legendary Bob Hurley at St Anthony's HS in Jersey City, NJ. Rich went on to play at the University of South Carolina for Hall of Fame Coach Frank McGuire and for Fairfield University, where Rich graduated in 1982.
A successful Coach on the High School level at Northern Highlands Regional HS and Paramus Catholic High School in addition to thousands of games coached in men's and women's AAU competition, Rich has never produced a team on the high school and/or AAU level with a non-winning record.
The Monarchs have never had an 8th grader leave the program for HS and not make their HS squad, many playing JV and or Varsity in their freshman campaign. Several of Coach Wejnert's former HS and/or AAU players have gone on to play in college and 2 have reached the professional ranks to date.
The New Jersey Monarchs are based in Point Pleasant,New Jersey and conveniently service basketball players from Essex,Union, Monmouth,Ocean,Burlington and Atlantic Counties.
The Monarchs program is centered on a strict execution of fundamental basketball principles, that are taught repeatedly and consistently at all levels in the program. Winning is the expectation here at the Monarchs, and we teach winning and the expectation to win as having value and the preparation to win as critical in the game and in life skill development.
"WE WILL PASSIONATELY PURSUE PERFECTION IN ALL WE DO, AS THIS WILL LEAD US TO THE PLACE CALLED EXCELLENCE!"
We welcome your participation in the New Jersey Monarchs, and we look forward to your contributions to the program - to the game of basketball -and to the game of life!
