In 2008 NATG Arsenal Football Club entered 2 teams into the Abbotsford Men's Summer Soccer League under the names NATG FC and NATG Arsenal FC. Both teams had an impressive showing placing 1st and 3rd in league play respectively. In the playoffs, NATG Arsenal had an early exit, losing a shootout nail-biter against Broco Concrete, while NATG lost a hard fought battle in a semi-final against eventual playoff champions Brickmen FC.
This year most of the members of NATG FC decided to stay together for the fall season and entered into the Fraser Valley Soccer League in Division 2. They took the name Abbotsford Arsenal (pictured above) and played in Division 2B. They had an impressive record of 12 Wins 3 Losses and 3 Ties, giving up only 14 goals against in the process (Second lowest in all of Division 2). They effectively clinched the title and a possible promotion to Division 1 next year by beating the previous division leaders, the Port Moody Lions, for the second time on March 1st. They finished off the season with 39 points and 27 goals for.
Many members of NATG Arsenal FC also stayed together and played in the Fraser Valley Soccer League, but in a different conference (Division 2A) under the name Aldergrove United. They were even more impressive than their Abbotsford Arsenal brethren, posting a record of 15 Wins 2 Ties and 0 Losses: 47 Points, 50 goals for, and only 15 against. It is expected that next year they will take a place playing as Aldergrove United in Division 1.
This year the club has again registered 2 teams in the Abby Men's Summer Soccer League. First game is April 28th, 2009. The club hopes to have another successful year and hopefully a run by at least one of the teams to the playoff final. The club will also keep with tradition and enter one unified team into an annual tournament on the August long weekend to end off the year.
