In a mostly non-competitive game, the Huskies blew Estacada out of the gym, defeating the Rangers 49-32 on Tuesday night at North Marion High School.
The Huskies opening quarter defense was stellar, as the Rangers could only muster one measly point in the entire eight opening minutes. The rest of the evening, Estacada was able to put a few points up here and there, but the league's lone winless team was pretty much quiet in the game as a whole.
Summers led the Huskies with 14 points on 6 of 9 shooting, 4 steals, and 3 blocks to cap off an amazing birthday evening game for him. Kyle Martin followed with a quiet 10 points. Matt McLaren led the team in rebounds with 6. The team shot 44% overall, with a good mark of 55% in the second half. North Marion out rebounded and committed less turnovers than the Rangers.
Wyatt Moore saw his first minutes of varsity time in his high school career as the game wound down.
Over $150 was raised for the
March of Dimes organization, as the sports marketing class put on a promotional night to raise money for the group.
Next up, the Huskies have a rematch with the Falcons of La Salle, whom they lost to by 16 points in the season's earlier matchup. However, North Marion will hold the home court advantage, which has been a major deciding factor in the last few years of this series. The game tips off Friday night at 7PM from Gym 1.
