Message From Our Club Director - Al Elliazar, Jr.
Aloha everyone and mahalo for visiting our website. N.O.V.A. (Na'Opio Volleyball Academy) is a competitive volleyball club. Each of our coaches is Impact Certified. Our coaching staff consists of years of experience both in coaching and collegiate play.
We are confident in our staff that each player that enters our volleyball academy will come away being both more knowledgeable and physically able to compete on a higher level they came in. Our goal is to have each player come away not only having a good volleyball experience but memorable life experiences as well. NOVA TENTATIVELY anticipates participating in the following out of state tournaments:
A. 30th Annual Las Vegas Volleyball Classic hosted by SCVA - Southern California Volleyball Association - 16's, 17's & select 18's. February 13th - 15th, 2016 (5-6 day trip; approximate cost-$1100-$1200) pending on number of players signing up and participating. The OPEN tournament date is Sunday, 11/1/15 "limited teams, 1st come 1st served."
We request that parents & players decide early & confirm their commitment; as last minute changes are difficult and causes scheduling and cost factor issues. Deadline dates, along with actual travel dates forthcoming and provided during our try-out dates.
B. 8th Annual Summer Soiree - The tournament will be held June 29th - July 2, 2016,hosted by SCVA, ASC & Disney; playing sites are American Sports Center and Convention Center. (approximate cost: $1500-$1700) 7-10 day trip.
Again, we request that parents & players decide early & confirm their commitment since last minute changes are difficult & causes scheduling & cost factor hassles with vendors. Deadline dates, along with actual travel dates forthcoming & provided during our try-out dates.
***Participation is based on player commitment at the onset; scheduling, registration, cost factors, player attendance/count dictate the NOVA's participation in the out of state tournaments. A non-refundable travel deposit will be collected after the teams have been selected. If you travel, the deposit will go towards your travel cost. If you don't travel, you will lose your deposit. Divisions that are offered are: 14,16,& 18's.
Our club will also be participating in fundraiser activities.
Welcome To Our N.O.V.A. (Na 'Opio Volleyball Academy) Ohana Website
NOVA formally known as Na 'Opio Volleyball Club is a junior women's volleyball club. Formed in 1996 by Al and Lani Elliazar.
Lani(Hayes)Elliazar is a former UH Rainbow Wahine Setter and defensive specialist who not only lettered in volleyball under Coach Dave Shoji but also had a four year scholarship in basketball under the guidance of coaches Patsy Dung & Dennis Agena.
Lani is a committed, determined coach who is well established and takes a personal interest in each and every player.
Our Alumni of N.O.V.A have received scholarships on all levels of collegiate play. We take personal pride in making sure our girls are given every opportunity to go to college as well as play.
The club was formed to give young women a means to develop teamwork, social skills, discipline, self-esteem, good citizenship and leadership qualities through their participation in club volleyball. This club is recognized for it's sharp volleyball fundamentals and competitiveness.
Coach Lani has built a strong alliance with many college coaches enhancing our athletes opportunity to further their volleyball play and mainly their education.
Our coaches are all primarily made of NOVA alumnus whom have returned to help young players to reach their goal. We believe that volleyball not only prepares our players for future play, but also life's many challenges when learning commitment, patience, responsibility, camaraderie and being able to accept ones differences.
Players of all skill levels are encouraged to try-out.
