Masters Team for Worlds 2012

This email has been passed to the committee. Can anyone who is interested let the committee know?
Broomball World Championships 2012 in Ottawa - LETS GET A MASTERS TEAM TOGETHER!
The World Broomball Championships are held every 2 years. Next tournament is scheduled for next year in Ottawa from 29 Oct to 2 Nov 2012
Australia has a long history of participation at various worlds tournaments, progressively increasing to team participation in all divisions with one exception - Mens MASTERS Division.
Well the time is now upon us to enter a masters team and I am real keen to get this started!
The standard of competition in worlds masters is actually very good, it is not some hack golden oldies bash played at walking frame pace.
Masters Division usually runs like this:
Players must be 40 years or older at the start of the tournament
2 games per day
Non checking
Pre tournament warm up games
We are looking for at least 14 punters, ideally 16 (do not panic, even with a full crew there will be heaps of ice time).
There are already 7 guys from SA lined up.
This particular worlds tournament is being held in real broomball heartland & some of our good friends from the Ottawa Icemen will be on the organising committee.
There is also the possibility of a formal pre-worlds tournament being held at Niagara Falls
Let's make it happen, you know it makes sense.

Ironman Tornament!

Hey All
We are coming up to the Ironman Tournament in Victoria, details as follows:
Mixed tournament for players from all around Australia. Register a team or as an individual to join a team. Games will run from late on the night of Friday 14 October until the morning hours of Saturday. This is a fun and social tournament and the cafe and bar will be kept open, so register today for what is sure to be a great experience on the fantastic ice of the Medibank Icehouse.
The basic details of the tournament are as follows:
When: Friday 14 October, games start at 10pm and go through to 8am Saturday morning. This means interstate travellers can work the day, catch a flight to Melbourne ready for a night of brooms;
Where: Obviously, the Icehouse at Docklands (full directions will be given closer to the date)
What:
All games will be mixed (men and women) with a minimum of two women on the ice at all times (yes – this means we can have all women's teams if they so desire);
Rules will be modified to emphasise the fun side of broomball. Not yet decided what this means, but we will probably get rid of icing and perhaps some of the more technical fiddly rules; plus who wants to worry too much about rules at a 5am game, eh?
All equipment to be supplied by a mix of the ice rink, BV, BA, and travelling broomballers.
We will try to get the ice rink to keep the café/bar open during the event for those who wish to access those facilities
Now is the time to get organising, so please start hitting up everyone you know and try to get a team together for the Ironman event. There should be prize money and/or trophies available for those who do well, else it's just a fun social event designed to showcase our sport!
