The OC Eagle Jersey
In times of adversity or uncertainty there is a special breed of athlete that is ready to answer our teammates call.
A common athlete with uncommon desire to succeed. Forged by adversity, he stands alongside the finest soccer players ever to play for O’Connor High School. His Jersey is a symbol of honor and heritage. Bestowed upon him by his teammates that have earned it along side him. This Jersey embodies the trust of his teammates that have sworn to uphold the standard that is second to none. By wearing the Jersey he accepts the responsibility and dedication that he has committed to his family, his team and school. He understands that it is a privilege that he must earn every day.
His loyalty to his teammates and school is beyond reproach. I humbly serve as a athlete to my fellow teammates always ready to commit to an endless amount of effort needed to bring honor to his team. He does not need praise for his hard work, nor seek recognition for his victories. He voluntarily accepts the inherent challenges that his position commands of him, placing the needs of his team before his own.
He plays with honor on and off the soccer field. The ability to control his emotions and his actions, regardless of circumstance, sets him apart from other athletes. Uncompromising integrity is his standard. His character and honor are steadfast. His word is his bond. As a teammate he expects to lead and be led. In the face of adversity, he will take charge, lead his teammates and bring home the victory. He will lead by example in all situations. He will never quit. He perseveres and thrives on adversity. His team expects him to be physically harder and mentally stronger than our opponents. If knocked down, he will get back up, every time. He will draw on every remaining ounce of strength to protect his teammates and to bring home victory. He will never let his teammate down.
He demands discipline. He expects innovation. His teammate’s needs and the success of his team depend on him - his technical skill, tactical proficiency, and attention to detail. His training is never complete. He trains for victory and fights to win. In the worst of conditions, the legacy of his teammates steadies his resolve and silently guides his every deed. He will not fail his team.

“There are plenty of teams in soccer that have great players and never win titles. Most of the time, those players aren't willing to sacrifice for the greater good of the team. The funny thing is, in the end, their unwillingness to sacrifice only makes individual goals more difficult to achieve. One thing I believe to the fullest is that if you think and achieve as a team, the individual accolades will take care of themselves. Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.”
