    Great First Appearance!!
    November 21, 2008

November 21, 2008, the first time that 11 wrestlers ever stepped onto the mat in competition. This night was a great night of wrestling and the excitement could be felt by all who were there. This was the first team from Osborne to hit the mats in at least 2 years. We did not win, but then again that isn't the point. We had a great time and won some matches while doing it.

Darnell "Biscuit" Moore started our night with a great win at 285. His huge bear like physique proved too much for Patrick Allen of Dawson County. Biscuit dominated his opponent by using his moves and strength. Biscuit was able to turn his opponent fairly early in the match and secure a pin for us.

Da'Von Dobson, a fairly recent addition to the team brought about the second win of the night. His dominance while on top was unequaled throughout the night. Arthur Brown from Dawson County was unable to battle from the bottom and was finally roled in the third period.

Last but not least, George Paye secured the final victory of the night. George was able to work Elijah Faille all over the mat with ease. He worked hard and pulled it together to grab a pin for the team.

All those who didn't win still wreslted well, and learned in the process. Omar Salem was the teams first wrestler to experience a 6 minute match and he realized why we try to train for endurance. We have a long way to go this season, but 3 wins out of 9 matches with in-experienced wrestlers is a great debut! We are looking forward to a great season!

    We are running!
November 2, 2008 We are officially up and running. Pre-season conditioning beganat the beginning of October and is now finishing up as it is time for mat practice to begin. We have approximately 10 very dedicated individuals who have been at nearly all the pre-season conditioning and they are progressing nicely. Our team should have no problem fining 14 individuals to wrestle varsity this season. We will likely have a nearly full complement of alternates as well. This sould make for a great first season.

The school was very helpful in providing us the funds to purchase at least our initial equipment that we need. This will help greatly as the receipt of funds is going to take some time. We have recently begun looking for ad sponsors with local businesses and will look into a fundraiser very shortly.

The main focus for the next 15 days will be to get our team ready for their debut at home against Dawson County High School. We will need to decide the varsity starters and get our weight assessments done. We will also need to attempt to have them match ready by Nov. 21. We have some real athletes on our team and I believe we could do quite well in various weight classes despite our inexperience as a team.

    The program is shaping up!
    August 31, 2008

The program is beginning to take shape! Although it seemed that we may have some trouble getting meets scheduled all the coaches across the much of the northern half of the state really stepped up to help us fill our schedule.

There has already been a fair amount of interest from the students in my classes alone for both wreslters and managers. I already have a small number of individuals that are committed to the program. There is quite a bit of interest from many females and this will add awhole new degree to the program. Wrestling is the great equalizer, so there is no limitation whether you are male or female!

Our school will be funding the beginning of the program so that we can get started. After that we will have to do alot of fund raising, but hopefully the local businesses will rally and help us!

New Year, New Coaches, New Team
    July 3, 2008

Hello to all interested in Osborne High School Wrestling! My name is George (Ian) McBroom and I was recently hired as the Head Coach for Osborne Wrestling. Our Assistant Coach is also new and his name is Doug Hubscher. This year will be a building year and will require alot of work on our and any wrestlers parts. I am slowly building us a schedule from open spots since the majority of the scheduling for the year is complete for most schools.

We will likely need to be involved in fundraising to a great extent. I will need all the support that the parents of our wrestlers can give. This team is more a family than a team, that was the philosophy when I was wrestling in high school, and that is the philosophy that this team will adopt. There will be no room for wrestlers who believe they are above the team or that do not participate as part of our family!

The young men of this team, just as those from other teams, will work hard and sweat more than they probably ever have. Practices will feel like they last ten years, but there is always another practice to follow. I encourage all individuals who feel they are up to the task at Osborne to step up and participate.

We will also be looking for Mat Managers. These individuals are very important to the program. They help publicize the team around the school for match days. They help insure that the team has its equipment such as first aid kits, water cooler, etc. packed for a match. They also take on a vital role at matches scoring the matches and keeping time. If you are interested in supporting your Wrestling Cardinals please come to posted meetings!
